You are strong, you will get through this. I am so sorry you had to give up Archie. I am proud of you for trying new experience of off the grid and now your new beginnings!! I am glad Liam loves school.

I’m so sorry. Wish you would have had better shelter, like an RV to help you stay there. Looks like Cochise county. We are moving there this year.

I found u while surfing doggie door vids. I went from the dog door straight to this so I was shocked at what all had happened between the two vids. I cannot even begin to imagine trying to live "off the grid" even in a real house. My idea of roughing it is Motel 6. But, hey, I was born and raised in the South and was married to two Southern men over my long lifetime. I know the breed. I could see my first husband, God rest his soul, wanting to do that. I fell in love with Archie in the first vid. It broke my heart that you had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome dear sweet Archie. I'm 60 (how that happened I do NOT know!) couldnt have kids so filled my heart with pets that I cared for like children. I've never had to rehome a pet, but my sweet, Lucy, 10 year old maltese mix rescue... went out doggie door to do her bizness .... didn't return ... I called for her. Nothing. I finally found her floating in my pool about 30 min after she went out... My point is this. I believe you did the right thing at the time. I could tell in the video how hard it was for you. Despite everything going wrong in your life - you found him a home and didn't take him to "the pound." Thank you for doing the right thing for Archie despite how hard it was for you and no doubt, your little boy. No matter what... go to college. The guy that recommended the business degree made a good point about a business degree. I woke up and went to pharmacy school at UF at almost 30 yo and have never regretted it. I was older than almost everyone in my Pharmacy classes and SO many times I wanted to quit. I'm 60 yo now and I thank God everyday for helping me get through those 8 years of college. Right out of college, I made more money than my career Navy hubby. BUT... I didn't have any children and was in a stable marriage (at the time). It would have been VERY hard otherwise. Thank goodness I was able to go to college, because hubby got weird, marriage fell apart and later found out I had/have MS. Became too disabled to work - but SSDI is based off most recent wages. I'm able to live comfortably - just me and my pets. Going to college saved me.

Thank you for taking the time to write me this, I greatly appreciate it. We miss Archie everyday and just hope he got placed with a good home. We called the shelter a couple months after and he was already adopted, which we knew he would be. I am in college full time and almost done with fall semester. I am a little halfway done to a bachelor degree. I'm sticking it out and pushing through. I am saddened to hear about your dog. Our family is doing better now and just trying to get it all figured out. Thank you again for your message, it was really kind.

Dearest sweet Lauren, you have been on my mind for a very long time and had been wondering what happened to you and your family. I am originally from New Mexico and I know what the weather can be like (I’ve been in your situation and I had 4 kids with me) there in NM. From watching the last video with the makeshift house you both made, I knew it was not going to be pleasant and suitable for winter. I prayed and hoped you both took your family to a nearby town or to a relatives house. Then I was watching out to see if you had made plans to give it another try this spring. Now that I’ve watched this video, my heart goes out to you. I’m sorry you had to re-home your fur baby. That alone had to be very difficult and very heartbreaking. I’m just happy you are doing well, staying warm and are healthy. Hugs. So now I have questions for you. Lauren, are you now a single mother, where is your son? Are you just never going back to the property you had purchased? Is your boyfriend coming back? Is the off grid living never going to happen? There’s so many unfinished. (Concerned and watching from Kansas & Arizona)

Thank you so much for reaching out! My son is with his father and I in Louisiana. We have decided to sell the land, so Taylor came back to live here. It's a crazy time.

Don’t feel bad. You both just didn’t have the skills and/or money to move off-grid right now. Great things will be happening for you.
