I've had an SP1000 since I first got into photography, and I still love to use it. A seriously underrated camera. Great quality, feel, looks, dependability, simplicity, and lens selection. It is challenging, and you have to really know photography to use it to full advantage, because it doesn't do anything for you, but what it does, it does very well. When you get a keeper shot with an SP1000, you've created something.

I agree. As long as the camera works as designed, the rest is up to the photographer and his/her artistry. Enjoy!

Great vid thanks @wei2shoot. I mostly use a Fujica 705w coupled to an SMC Takumar 1.4. The Fujica's focusing screen is amazing. - no scratching on the lens from the pin. I also have a Spotmatic SP2 but I prefer the Fujica just for the focusing screen.

Yes, I agree. The Fujica focusing screen is awesome. I think it’s probably the best one for the screw mount that’s not the Bessaflex.

All K1000s have a split-image rangefinder... the SE screen is special because it's a 45º angle split. And the Fujica has a lock pin to enable full-aperture metering with their EBC Fujinon lenses, a feature that was expected by the early '70s. That's basically why Pentax moved to the K-mount.

All my SE have horizontal split image. I has not seen the 45 degree split on a K1000 SE before.

can i ask if you know which pentaprism from other cameras can be replaced with spotmatic sp1?
