I'd love to see some more "cooking-videos" like the one called "what I eat in a day" (or something..). I loved your noodle-mushroom-bowl! :)) Or organizing and furnishing/home-decor.. For "cleaning-videos" I like the KonMari-decluttering. Oh, and it would be quite interesting, if you explained/commended some of the pieces that you keep or give away. Like "I don't like this one anymore because... (..color, fitting, what ever..) :)

My family and I are just starting on this journey. Your videos are inspirational to my daughters who are 12 and 8. I'm glad someone like you, who is younger and "hipper" for them to see it isn't just a "mom" thing. We watched your playlist before we tackled their closet. They had fun, and were enjoying the process of purging, and folding. Even though some of the choices were emotional, as were your hip hop shoes, they were able to see that the process is a journey for everyone. Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Thanks so much for being real and honest! In the book it seem like tidying should be done in one day, and I knew there was no way I could do that. So I have been scared to even start. Hearing that it could realistically take a few months was encouraging, and now I'm more comfortable with beginning.

I was able to do my closet in half a day, this is only because I had recently done a purge and have had a habit of getting rid of things as I buy new ones. However, this tidy using KonMari was so much more satisfying and the missing piece to all my decluttering efforts over the years. I got rid of three large bags of clothing, shoes, and hangers. I have a small shoe collection compared to you, about 15 pairs, I actually need to buy a couple pairs right now to replace some worn out ones and ones that I was keeping but not wearing because they matched outfits. I have a list of clothing items that I need to buy after this because I noticed how worn some of my socks, belts, and other essentials were. Thank you for your videos, they were very, very helpful for folding!

I loved seeing what you managed to discard and donate. I too initially struggled with that feeling of joy, it did get easier and I think I have probably discarded at least 30-40% of my clothes. I actually got out all my clothes today and got rid of a big pile, but had gotten rid of quite a lot of others about 3 months ago before doing the Konmari method today. I wonder if it will help me to let go of things in the future and also lessen what I bring in my home. Great job, I enjoyed seeing this.

I've recently read Marie Kondo's book thanks to your recommendation and have started to apply the methods in my own life. What I have discovered, and also find very refreshing, is how I don't feel like I need to buy things to make me happy. The simple act of stating gratitude for something and letting it go is so overlooked in today's culture. It's so transferable across the spectrum of life.

I just went through all my clothes, shoes and bags earlier today. At 1st it was so hard for me to part with alot, especially the items that still had tags!! I am still on my journey 😀 but as I come across videos on youtube I find it is truly what I WANT to do vs feeling like I should - if this makes sense to anyone.

holy crap I feel with this so hard. My mum is like borderline hoarder and there is so much crap everywhere that I can never think straight or even get any of my school work done in the house. She'd even dump the stuff she didn't want anymore into my bedroom for a period of time. She buys so much furniture second hand cause she likes retro stuff but there's nowhere to put it so there are just random tables everywhere with unsorted papers and crap on them. I bought my mum the Mari Kondo book as a present, and when she looked at the title, she laughed and said 'I can clean! I don't need this' and she still hasn't read it, while I've read the book three times myself now. I just want to move out already, but on top of all this, she's so strict, and she won't even let me get my drivers licence? my relationship with her is as messy as her lifestyle...

I did my closet today and got rid of a ton of stuff to trash and charity. My closet looks so good now and my shoes are up off the floor. If I leave them on the floor, my ferret goes in there and gets them and drags them all over the house, and then I have to look for them. Now they are up in an organizer. Now I have to get my husband to do his side. He has been basically the same size for the 41 years we have been married so he hardly ever gets rid of anything!

@aniak57108 жыл бұрын
Hehehe, and I have maybe 10 pairs in total ( incluing sumer and winer ones...flip flops, high heals etc)....and this is before cleaning, not after ;) Why anyone would need 90 pairs? If you want to wear them all in one year you have to change shoes every 4 days ;)
@brinawidmer8 жыл бұрын
I'm actually doing that. I love colorful outfits and always want matching shoes. I love fashion it's more than a hobby for me. Plus I think it also matters where you live - we have 4 seasons so having 10 pairs of shoes want work. I'm not going to wear the same pair for 2 months - no way that will happen 😂
@lisa98677 жыл бұрын
I think it's great that you got rid of half your shoe collection. I also live in a area where we have 4 seasons. I like to run, walk, bike ride, hike, swim, go out dancing. I have different shoes for all these activities. Nice boots for good weather, old boots for snowy icy days. Sandals for summer. Shoes that are just for work as I have to wear shoes they allow. I don't have 90 but maybe 40 pairs. Some of them are over 10 years old. My flip flops that I wear at the beach that double as slippers when I'm staying in a hotel. I'm not a minimalist but I have been giving away things, telling people I don't need or want gifts and also selling some things I don't use anymore.

Hi there, I love your suggestion @4'50 to take pictures of things you still are attached to sentimentally only but that you know must reasonably be discarded. I don't recall reading that in Marie Kondo's book. Thanks for your GREAT videos and yes I confirm, you inspire other people to tidy up the KonMari way !
@moniquequilang34178 жыл бұрын
Thanks dear! Everything you said were things I refused to tell myself -"Is this piece still making me happy? or Does it just brings up memories?". I was almost teary eyed when you brought up being sentimental with your shoes because that's definitely how I felt with clothes. But yeah, getting everything organized and tidied up feels like your life is also decluttered. And yeah, we gotta move on. Haha!

I loved seeing your process! :) I started decluttering in the middle of last year, so that was before I read Marie Kondo's book. By the time I got to reading it, I felt like it was fairly easy since I already got rid of half of my stuff, but I still had a lot of things I got rid of once I followed her guidelines. It's definitely a process, and I know you'll get to the point where you feel it's enough. :) P.S. You one of the many inspirations for me to start a second channel on my minimalist journey. I haven't started it yet, but I just want to say thank you for your inspiration! Keep it up :)

Thank you for sharing your journey. I have just finished my clothes category too and in my case I threw out 1 big garbage bag and donated one other. I don't own that many clothes, so it was not so much about how much I have threw out (even though I have to admit that I was still impressed how much stuff I did get rid off - 2 huge bags are no so bad :-), but more about the feeling of positive energy coming into my home because now I have only the stuff I really like or really need :-) Things got clear and neat in my closet and at the same time in my head and that was a really nice surprise. Hope you did well with the rest of the categories, it takes time but KonMari method is worth it :-)

I already live a minimalist lifestyle, so I wouldn't be able to discard much - maybe a couple pairs of shoes that aren't as comfortable as I thought they'd be. I only own enough clothes to get me through a week or a little longer. Most books are in my kindle account. Papers are scanned. Music and movies are digital. I own 2 purses, which is really one too many. All gift cards, loylaty cards are in an app on my phone. Same with business cards.

Also, I dont even own a dresser - I hang up all of my clothes and put underwear and socks in one of those hanging, collapsible closet organizers. Hamper is also hanging, collapsible. Jewelry also is in a hanging organizer. I do have a few plastic bins with some things in them like medical supplies, holiday decorations, and cleaning supplies. At work I was known for having the cleanest, barest, most organized desk in the company. Nothing on my desk except for a note pad and pen, in addition to my computer.

I wish I could do that but I know I couldn't. I have work clothes, casual clothes, exercise clothes, and then that varies by season as well. I am trying my best to downsize and I don't even know where to begin. I have actually donated several boxes and bags of clothes in the past few months but I have a walk in closet, two dressers, an underbed rolling cart, and a standalone closet with clothes in it. I think I am doomed.

Phoenix I got my start with a book called "30 Days to a Simpler Life." The author gives you one task to do each day for 30 days and by the end, you'll have a simpler (and decluttered) life. The first task is to grab one garbage bag and fill it up with stuff to throw away or give away. I remember, over a decade ago now, embarking on the first task and filling up a bunch of large trash bags full of stuff to donate or throw away. I haven't owned a lot of excess items since.

+Lisa Vega Thank you! I may need to check out the book. I'll see if they have the Kindle version because I have too many books.

I love this movement, if it keeps catching fire like this, those who have nothing at all around the world will have something. Godspeed. Bravo

I have literally spent all day watching your channel, and I have been so inspired and revived in y journey as an artist. I've even spent all day on my minimalist journey and started de-cluttering my clothes using the KonMari method! Thank you for sharing your journey! #newsubbie!

I'm ready her book right now and I can't wait to implement this into my life. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by the clutter of too much clothes 🙈

if you have to make a "maybe" pile, then all those items should go. Because if you don't LOVE it, it's not worth keeping. That's the whole point.

you're right I was just too weak then haha. you build your intuition as you go!! it's been over a year and I'm getting better at it :)

Thank you for this video! I can totally relate to the "maybe" pile during the wardrobe processing part of tidying up. I had some shoes I was attached to, but never wore them. I think I ended up keeping 15 pairs total!

Brave video! Thanks for sharing! I got rid of about 6 bags of clothes myself.... I can't believe how much better I feel now. :)

Loved your video and how you talked about the feelings and struggles of using the KonMari Method. I had seen another YT video on this topic with some pretentious woman who had dozens of designer purses. Yours was so much more relatable and authentic. #FeelingMotivated

Lol! I saw that video; I believe it was the same lady ;p I commented on the purse video and while she got rid of a lot, she still had a lot afterwards. She put many purses/ wallets into bins and then put them back into the closet. I commented and asked her how can she see what she has all the time if they are hidden away in bins in the closet. Just because she made space doesn't mean she needs to keep that much. Seems like a waste to me; I just have 1 bin with 5 purses in it in my closet so I can always see everything and go through it easier when I want.

I would love to see you do a hip hop number. I completely understand about the shoes. I am yet to tackle mine. I have not quite 80 pairs but I do have about 50. Most I do not wear.

That's great! However with the Konmari method you are supposed to tackle by category, not by location. That way you can see everything you have in one pile :)

+Kaitlyn Robey exactly, and do this quickly, with a time limit. do not fold or organize until you have discard EVERYTHING...do not stop to organize. missed the whole point. Also, don't look for things to throw out, look for items that spark joy...And keep only those items. The items that you are unsure about, box up and see if you think of them over a month. if not then discard. you missed the entire point of her strategy. Also...say thank you your discarded items....greeze...very frustrating.

Hahaha I love how your donation trash bags are organized with the most on the right to the least on the left xD. For myself, I don't have as many shoes as you, but I have too many hats, ~30 or so hats. I'm using a hanging drawer to hold them. I stayed up till 4am cleaning my drawer closet last night and having your vid play in the background :) Onto the closet, where I don't need hangers to suspend my clothes in the air :p Thanks Aileen~

Thanks for the video, so helpful and it's nice to see your tidying process! As for donating/selling/discarding ratios. I'll have to say that at least 90% of my tidying piles go into donating/selling and only 10% for discarding. However, the leftovers from my makeup tidying piles are a different story. Most of the makeup are pretty old so they get thrown away and whatever is leftover that is almost brand new, I try to pass on to friends/family. But I am on a makeup ban as I have more than enough to use up! And I have been actively trying to refuse any free beauty samples from Sephora and the like since I have a box dedicated just for those. More stuff that I don't need. -____-
