My experience with Nikon F

This video is about my experience with Nikon F. I found one on ebay with the Photomic FTN viewfinder and then after a while added a simple eye level prism viewfinder. No doubt that it is one of the most iconic SLRs ever made, and I'm gonna keep it for a long time.

Nice to meet you, I'm Japanese. I own two Nikon F cameras, which are also my father's belongings. I have both eye-level finder and FTN viewfinder, but I think it's better to use a stand-alone exposure meter with the eye-level finder.

Don’t get rid of it, in a lapse of judgement years back I let someone use it for a photo journaling session and never saw it again. I have been heartbroken over this camera. I still miss it.

I have a Nikon F with Photomic Ftn meter head with a Nikon Nippon Kogaku 50mm f/1.4 lens, camera body circa late 1971/early 1972; the lens somewhat older than that because it's labeled 'Nippon Kogaku'. Both excellent condition. The meter works fine I had to get a couple of voltage adjusting battery adaptors to use modern equivalent silver oxide batteries. I call my Nikon F the 'Ford vs. Ferrari' camera because the same camera appears early in the film 'Ford vs. Ferrari'. Love using mine it's an iconic piece of photographic history and I get a lot of 'what kind of camera is that?' questions.

Well, I just got lucky. I happened to find one at a flea market here very cheap. However, it’s in great shape and it was way below market price, had to grab it up!

My first SLR (after I smashed by Diana to bits - lol) in 1969 with the 50mm f2. I couldn't afford the Ftn finder back then, so I got a Lunasix hand held instead. Why didn't I get the much cheaper Pentax Spotmatic or even the Ricoh TLS401? Well I didn't like stop down metering, the screw lens mount and the smaller coverage of the darker viewfinders. Also Nikon's shutter is of much better quality. Still use my F and the Lunasix, although I have got an Ftn now. Measures very well. And lately I have purchased two, now very affordable, Spotmatics and a Ricoh out of curiosity which have confirmed the choice I made as a beginning photographer. .. Nikon's F2 resolved two niggles with the F : 1 the film back is now hinged 2 the shutter button is now in a more ergonomic place. I used that for many years .. until switched to Nikon's FA Good times! Congrats on your purchase. A legendary Leica killer. .. . Now let's go out and take some nice shots!
