I'd really like to see a visual demo of how to seamlessly integrate a PRERECORDED verse stored in say loop 10 with another chorus stored in loop 11 and perhaps a middle 8 in loop 12. Maybe I need to activate the quantizer, but my attempts at doing this are disjointed. Any tips guys?

@@DanKang79 hey man! Just wondering, are you saying you can record a verse live, save it on the fly, switch to record a chorus, save it, and switch back to the verse all live without prerecording? If so more details would be awesome! Just what I've been looking to do. If not does anyone have any suggestions for a pedal that can easily do this. Don't need any other functions besides this really. Haven't been able to find this function so far. THANKS!

@@GolgonsChild The red boss pedal with the two circles (Maybe it’s R C 10? Has the ability to do a verse and chorus live. I’m not sure if that helps I do have this looper and I wish it had a 9 V DC so I could take it out without a inverter. This one with external memory has so much time on it I just record the whole song-I play it down verse chorus, basically aaba Jazz style, Then I start overdubbing on that. I must’ve had my now for eight or 10 years and I bought it used, I’ve actually fallen on it and bent one of the knobs all the way to sideways, And the thing works great still and I leave it all all the time, sometimes my pedal board just sits on all day. When it starts to get full it’ll glitch-you just need to dump some songs and make some space. If you start to load up a song with a whole bunch of parts and you’re playing in a long time it may start to glitch but I’ve been blowing a little fan on it and it hasn’t been doing that at all. I think I paid $160 years and years ago and I’m still happy with it. I’ve also got Nux loop core deluxe, Which worked flawlessly for a couple years now it will glitch and act weird if I have a lot of long loops but I used to be able to load more into it. If you’re having trouble quantizing you may want to try to play in single mode instead of loop. When you loop it records all the way to the end of a beat and when you go in single it stops when you stop.That may help some folks

I own the JamMan with two pedals (prior to this one) and appreciate Jeffrey's comments about not wanting to do an entire gig of infinitely looped phrases; this is actually the reason that I purchased the JamMan over a Boss RC. Each of my 99 tracks is a complete song - 3 to 6 minutes, overdubbed up to 3 or 4 instruments. Takes patience because 4 to 6 minutes is a long time to go for perfection (a complex song might take hours ...you've almost nailed it but botch it near the end) so... hint... once you're happy with the first instrument save it, then overdub and save to a different track, overdub again and save to a different track... until you're satisfied and you can delete the previous ones. This is also how I've recorded promo CDs.

The Digitech Jamman stereo is one of the "best" compact loopers out there. It has a dedicated rhythm out which allows you to send a click track to your drummer and sync up your entire band to your loops. One click and your next loop will start right on the ONE. I use a sim card and stored 47 songs on it. It's built like a tank and simple to use. I'm keeping mine.

Thanks for the video! Great info which helped me decide to buy a JamMan Stereo about a month ago. I'm not using the unit for live looping. I'm using it to trigger imported stereo wav file backing tracks. For that purpose, it's a great unit once you figure out how to import your wav files. Some info below that might help others that might be in the same boat I was in. Thanks again! Dan 1. You can import stereo wav files into the Jamman (they don’t have to be Mono) 2. Open up mp3 file in Wavasaur app and save the file as stereo, 16 bit, 44.1Khz wav file. Name the file whatever name you want with a .wav extension. 3. In JamManager app, do File “Add to Library”, or just drag the wav file into the Library folder 4. In JamManager app, copy/paste the wav file from Library folder to Internal storage folder (using Menu - Edit - Copy/Paste works better than rt clicking on the file…at least for me). 5. Once you have the wav file imported into the Jamman unit at a specific internal memory Loop # location, you can then use the Jamman unit (NOT the JamManager app) to copy that Loop to a Loop # on your external memory card (then delete the Loop from your internal memory to free up space in the internal storage).

The most thorough breakdown. Most music I play have the form of A, B, A, B, C or sections. Your examination is worth gold if digitec or any company take your oversight into the lab and improve upon the existing. Manual tempo addition would be a plus. Midi in and out or exchange or editing existing stored loops could be helpful too. Thank you for taking your time.

I did try out the external footswitch but it wasn't as helpful or necessary as for others loopers, since this one already has 4 footswitches built in. Of course, it's still nice to be able to activate additional features with your feet, so it's definitely useful depending on how you plan on using the JamMan Stereo.

Thank You for the review! I believe from what you are saying that I could use the JamMan to put down several backing keyboard tracks? We are playing the intro to shine on you crazy diamond and as a 3 piece (and bass player) I would like to trigger the organ key changes by scrolling up through the patches (there's about 7 key changes in total). I've recorded all the tracks already in garageband so would just need to load them in sequence into the JamMan. My biggest concern is that they playback instantly when triggered with the up/down funtion? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hey Jefferey, I'm looking for a looper that I can use for live performances with my band. I want to be able to just record certain parts for a song and store them. Basically as a 2nd guitar part for certain songs. Then when playing live I can set to that loop and be able to start and stop it at the right time but most importantly that loop has to be able to be on time with our live performance. Is this pedal something that I can make work for that? Can I record the loop then do the tap temp while we are playing the song and be able to get it on time? Or do you have any suggestions on any others that would work for this? Thank you!
@JeffreySchmidtMusic
@JeffreySchmidtMusic 4 жыл бұрын
You would need to have everyone in the band on the same sequenced tempo. The JamMan Stereo can't do this, but some of the more recent JamMan loopers can. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oICad5JjmNKkhNE But if the others in the group are not using synced pedals, you would need to run your whole concert off a computer DAW using in-ear monitors for everyone in the band like many pro groups do. Then you can put whatever you want in the in-ears and the audience won't hear it (click track, etc.). Hope this helps.

Thank you for super-extensive review, very informative. A question: Did you come across any loopers which can switch to a saved loop and save a temporary loop tp memory on the fly without any delays? Cheers!
@JeffreySchmidtMusic
@JeffreySchmidtMusic 4 жыл бұрын
The JamMan Strereo can apparently do this if you make yourself a piece of foam allowing you to control the "store" button with your foot, something that I haven't tried personally. Otherwise, you'd need to look at loopers that can manage two or more loops in parallel, like the Boss RC-300.

So Jeffrey.. Very nice tutorial. I have a tricky question: which is more versatile? One JamMan Stereo? or two JamMan Solo XT synced together?
@JeffreySchmidtMusic
@JeffreySchmidtMusic 5 жыл бұрын
I've never tried out the JamMan Sync technology, but I have read up on it. Two JamMan Solo XTs synced together would definitely give you more options than one JamMan Stereo. However, you would need to buy at least one optional FS3X footswitch for one of the two JamMan Solo XTs, increasing the number of footswitches from one to four on one of the Solo XT units. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to change memory locations on the fly like you can with the JamMan Stereo.

Thank you very much for your video. I understood it perfectly even English is not my first language. I have a question for you: If you had to choose between this pedal and the Boss Rc-500. Which one would you choose now in 2021? Thank you!
@JeffreySchmidtMusic
@JeffreySchmidtMusic 2 жыл бұрын
The Boss RC 500 is clearly a superior pedal in terms of sound quality (24 bit samples) and the possibility of using two different loops at the same time. On the other hand, the JamMan costs less and allows you to change saved loops on the fly using two of its footswitches, which you can't do on RC500 w/o buying an optional seperate footswitch. But I haven't had a chance to try the RC500 out myself, so take this with a grain of salt. In any case, my recommendation would be to buy the RC500 from a shop with a good return policy and see if you like it. If not, you could return it and try the JamMan. Good luck!

How does this compare to the Boss RC-30? I have one but found that it's super hard to switch between pre-recorded loops on the fly.
@JeffreySchmidtMusic
@JeffreySchmidtMusic 5 жыл бұрын
The JamMan Stereo is great for switching between pre-recorded loops on the fly! Just know that you'll have to keep a cheat sheet saying which loop is stored under which memory number. I didn't keep it because storing new loops on the fly isn't possible without adding a piece of foam over the save button (a product that they call the FABE). If the JamMan Stereo gave us footpedal access to the save button, I'd probably have kept it. I also tried out the RC-30 and it didn't get me where I wanted to go either. ;-) The RC-300 does what you're looking for AND what I'm looking for but I personally don't want such a huge pedal station hanging around and I feel that they should be giving us 24-bit audio for that price. (The JamMan Stereo, the RC-30 and the RC-300 all use only 16-bit audio on recorded loops.)

About 24:35 you talk about the main limitation of this pedal. Since this videos posting have you found any pedals that have developed this functionality?
@JeffreySchmidtMusic
@JeffreySchmidtMusic 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not aware of a pedal that allows you to save a loop to stored memory on the fly and come back to it. The reason I would like that functionality on the JamMan Stereo would be to lay down verse and chorus loops live. However, some loopers like the Boss RC-300 allow you to do so by allowing you to have more than one active loop (3 in the case of the RC-300). This allows you to record a verse loop on Loop 1, stop the verse loop, record a chorus loop on Loop 2, then go back to the verse loop on Loop 1, for example. (The RC-300 is pretty damn big and expensive though). Hope this helps.

Hey Jeffrey, nice video! I'm using this looper for 4 years now and agree with most of your speech. In fact I'm the other type of looper, that likes to bills l build landscapes of layers, but the limitation on only one loop annoyed me at a point and I had a nice solution for it, but I think I'm going to make a video about it, cause it's a bit complicated. (You can have an idea of it watching my looping video with the aFrame) Watching your video I thought that the looper I've recently bought (and want to get rid of again) could be something good for you: the tc helicon voicelive 3. It makes it possible to live loop an entire song with 2 different chord progressions or phrases. Actually the looper section of this device is much more for loopers like you than like me, that's the reason I want to get rid of it again...
@JeffreySchmidtMusic

Thanks for the suggestion. I just took a look at the voicelive 3 but it's pretty expensive :-( I might have sprung for the Boss RC-300, which can do what I'm looking for, if it wasn't so damn big. Boss also needs to up their game to 24-bit sampling.

What this means is that you cannot lay down a verse loop live and then lay down a chorus loop live and then come back to the verse loop again (without re-recording it). You could however pre-record your chorus loop and only record your verse loop live and use both. I hope my answer was clear ;-)

Can you stack on a saved loop? If you can it would be one way of doing a verse/chorus/bridge
@JeffreySchmidtMusic
@JeffreySchmidtMusic 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can stack on a saved loop. So if the verse and chorus bits are compatible, you can definitely do verse/chorus arrangements that way, by adding a 2nd bit for the chorus and then remove it again for the 2nd verse, for example. But that's the case for any loop pedal that has a undo/redo function.

The easiest way would be to integrate the needed samples into your pre-recorded loops. It wouldn't be possible to have one loop going on and also trigger another independant sample on top of that using only the JamMan Stereo. Or if you really have to be able to trigger another independant sample in real time, you would need to plug a second sampling device into the second input of the JamMan Stereo. Hope this helps!

This pedal is great for using prepared backing tracks; yes you can go straight into "play" of a pre-recorded loop. And if you change memory presets in the middle of a loop it will by default (but this can also be changed in the parameter options) finish that pre-recorded loop and then start at the beginning of the next one seemlessly.

This pedal has only one temporary memory slot active at any one time. So once you switch from track 1 to track 2, track 1 stops. But you can program it to at least finish the loop on track 1 before switching so that it doesn't cut off the loop in the middle.

Hey there! Thank you for this great rundown of this box. Kudos for a very balanced review, pointing out shortcomings and why they're bad. The one part of the video I'd call a fault on is the way you delivered facts on the limited Undo and the impact on live performance. You used from time index 24m-36m to make about 4 points that could have been named and explained in 2 minutes. That means sitting through 14 mins of talking for 2 mins of information. Put another way, you used more than a third of the video on that stuff! You were repeating things, going over one fact in 5 different ways, really, just going on and on for a long time. You're info wasn't organised so you got lost in the woods. This video would be *much better* if you redid the last 14 minutes. Get your quality up, man! Still I'm glad for the review, and thank you.

Hello good day. I am considering buying a Digitech jamman, but I have a question that I could not clarify with the information I got on the internet. I had a Boss RC-1 a while ago, and in boss rc-1 I had the possibility to plug my instrument into input A (mono), and in outputs A and B I got two different possibilities, output A reproduced what I playing plus the sound of the loop recording, while in output B only the sound of the loop RECORDING was reproduced. Could you tell me if this is possible in the Jamman. I would like to have this pedal, but this question is very important to me, my English is not very good, if you do not understand the question, tell me, and I try to do it another way. Thank you very much for your attention.

From page 16 of the manual, it says that when only one instrument is connected to the left (mono) input, both the loop and instrument sounds are sent to both outputs, left and right. So the JamMan Stereo does not work like the Boss RC-1. Hope this helps.

I hear you man...Thats why i stopped using single track loopers. Just like you said, single track loopers make the song very boring for the audience and make it even more tiring for us to do the same thing over and over again...Solution : Boss Rc300...I know its not cheap but has 3 stereo tracks with their own start & stop pedals.

I have come to the same conclusion as you that the only reasonable looper for doing verse/chorus songs is the Boss RC300. However, I did try the RC30 and was not impressed with the tone of the device. That in addition to the price of the RC300 and the large footprint, I'm not ready to get it at this point. I'm kind of hoping that Boss comes out with a updated RC30, 2 tracks each with their own start and stop pedals and 24-bit audio some time soon. ;-)

The tempo keeper on this is not good. so I just turned it off with tape. What this looper does that I really dig. Is I can pre-record the chorus the break. Tracks 42 43 on Trac 41 I use my drum machine set to exactly the same pattern. I lay up acoustic rhythm and bass live. Main part of each song . So it looks like I'm bending a loop. Because I instantly go to the chorus and then maybe a break . By using the feature of channel jumping. So while I'm on channel 41 and the chorus is on 43. I press the up button to 43 . The jamman is able to know when to switch perfectly... I would call that the main feature of this loop pedal.

I see, yes i guess the FABE demo is an example, but as i understand it the FABE is simply a big button to put over the smaller buttons to make it suitable for foot. (also i found several different DIY versions of these, the guy who makes buttons out of bottle caps and styrofoam may be a better working solution than FABE) If i have understood it all correctly, he is saving loops on the fly, copying them to new slots, adding layers and so on, moving back and forth between slots all whitout stopping the playback, and that was all techincally possible before he added the "footknob" (is that even a word? Sounds perverted) . Still the manual clearly says you have to stop the playback to do this.... Either the manual is wrong or the FABE guy edited the video to make it seem it can do something that is not possible to sell his cheap ass knobs... hmmm I written digitech waiting for an answer. would love to have this clearified as if this cant be done on the fly, then thats a total deal breaker for me

Thanks for the link reference. Just to be clear, the video that you linked is using the Jamman Solo. My video here concerns the Jamman Stereo. In any case, you can see in that video that he's using a triangular piece of black foam taped on with blue tape over the save button. So he made his own Jamman FABE basically so that he can operate the save button with his foot. It's shame that he didn't let the video go longer so that we could actually see him come back to the first loop on the fly. Others say that they've done the same thing with the Jamman Stereo, but I haven't seen a video of it yet.
@JeffreySchmidtMusic
@JeffreySchmidtMusic 5 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, the issue is just that without a FABE you cannot use the save button with your foot. That's why they say you can't save on the fly in the user manual. But in reality it does work but you would have to bend over and hit the save button with your finger, which really doesn't work during a live show. I would really like Digitech to release a new Jamman that allows you to control the save button with a footswitch. ;-)
