Only came in to look at the vocoder section, but your runthrough of the programming was spot on and a nice refresher for me (I've had new toys since, and you forget 😁 )

Thank you for the video! I purchased a RADIAS some time ago and was hoping to use it again. You are one of few with a video in 2023! :) I'm considering adding an analog synth like the MONOLOGUE or MINILOGUE (Or MINIBRUTE 2S) but I wasn't sure if it would be redundant. (I'm still unsure what the RADIAS can and cannot do). Do you have a recommendation as to what "pairs well" with the old RADIAS? I recently picked up an AKAI Studio 2 and MPK MK3 since most of my gear is circa 2006. Appreciate your time! You did an excellent job on the software side and hardware side! Which imo, nobody really has done, let alone in the last 15 years! :)

Thanks for your comment, it makes it worthwhile to do these videos when I get comments like this. I have a Minilogue (video coming soon) and that works well with the RADIAS, it has a very different analoge feel to it. You could go fully digital and go for an FM synth, I have TX7 or you could go modern with a Opsix. Make sure you check out my other videos!

The Radias has a distinct clean, hi-fi-ey type of sound, so anything that differs pairs well. I use it live together with a Deepmind 12, a Microfreak and an old Roland D2, and they beautifully complement each other.

Ive had a lot of fun programming the radias, BUT !! its major flaw is its just never sits well in a mix.. It sounds so thin and transparent.. Ive had a hell of a time trying to get it to pop out in any tracks ive used it in.. To that end I got tired of it and decided to sell it.. Its such a pity because it makes pretty much any sound you can think up of but again just lacks that prescence..

I know what you mean. I still use it from time to time but not live I do other synths
@OneroomBeatz Жыл бұрын
I'm doubting to buy it, the sound sounds so thin, I can't see it being of any use in this age of music but it sure looks cool to have. I want to attach it next to my Korg M3.

I tend not to use it that much now but it has its charm and like you say its looks good.

@@IanDixonTDL Exactly I like the Arpeggios too but it's not worth the price, nice tutorial btw. I would've bought it if the sound was a bit thicker and had more sweeping or white noise fx for up/ down lifters

The main issue I have is even with the hands on control its not as imediate as some other synths
@faglork200711 ай бұрын
Well, it has 2 OSC and 1 Sub-OSC per timbre, which makes 12 OSCs per patch. If you are not able to get a thick sound with 12 OSCs, then the problem might sit in front of the synth ...

@@faglork2007 Good point but it does take some getting into to get the most out of it. Its not that immediate but worth putting the time in.

You are not fully aware of the possibilities and the good demos that exist. Together with the old V Synth and Quasimidi Polymorph, Summit... they are one of the best synthesizers on the market
