My Experience with Waveroom for Podcasting

It's free, yes. But is it worth it? Our experience using Waveroom for our podcast. Will I keep using it?

UPDATE: Waveroom has finally responded and is blaming Amazon servers. They claim they are fixing the issue so it won't happen again. I'll update the video if I find that to be true.

I hope to soon be able to update my review to report that the bugs have been worked out. When Waveroom works, it's great! But when it doesn't, it's catastrophic. I plan to keep using it for now and will just have a backup solution in place.

@TheRealBusinessPodcast I'm still using Waveroom, but am also screen recording the episode with OBS as a backup in case the Waveroom recording doesn't work.

What do you use to edit your videos for the podcast? How do you get that circular video? I'm new to this...

For the circular video I use OBS. There are tutorials on YT on how to do that. For the podcast I use Adobe Premiere, but Da Vinci Resolve is a great free option.

Just had the same thing happen on my recording. My guests video just stopped uploading and now I only have the audio. And there's no reset, try again, reload recording button or anything so can't be that local recording if that keeps happening.

I've learned there is no local copy, so if the upload stops, you are out of luck. Recently had one where there was no video or audio uploaded for my guest even though the connection was fine. It just never uploaded at all. Now I screen record every interview as a backup while I look for a different solution.

@@thegreenworkbench thanks for this video though. I thought it just happened to me once off or that I did something wrong and was about to have a high profile guest on. Wasn’t worth it so I had to cancel/postpone the episode until I find something better.

dude, you say "selling point" and "you get what you paid for" but as you said it's completely free, no payment at all. If I use something completely free I don't expect any support.

This isn't freeware. This is a paid product with a limited free plan. The purpose of a free version of any software (that isn't specifically freeware) is to eventually upsell you to the paid version. But I will never upgrade until the bugs are worked out. So if they want to remain in business, they need to follow through with what they are offering, a working podcast solution with built-in support.

@@thegreenworkbench I do understand what you mean and pretty sure they'll improve. However I also tested it, it's not a limited free plan, it's just absolutely free. There are some limits, as per my test no money required at all.
