Im 14 (very young to be already thinking of a career/university) but anthropology is something that interests me a lot and i love the idea of working in a museum! In fact, there are 2 museums near where i live where i might be able to get a job at/volunteer at next year! This is truly something i would like to pursue in the future and your videos are very informative thank you!

I just discovered your videos because I have been thinking about studying anthropology and going into archaeology. You have a ton of great info and I’m super excited. I have always been interested in archaeology and Egyptology so why not study it. Thank you for making these videos!!

If you do archaeology, apply for Archeology Field School. It'll help to get you a job with your BA and it'll help with some graduate programs.

Hi Alivia...I am from India...here Major is called Honours...I completed my Honours degree in Anthropology in 2018...right now I am working as a Civil Servant under Indian Government...soon after college I left academics and move towards government job because of almost zero scope for anthropology in India...your videos really make me happy...the subject needs to come more in the limelight...I have shared your videos with my juniors hope they get some career knowledge or motivation to pursue Masters or PhD in your country which definitely will provide them plethora of opportunities❣

I'm currently trying to find a college in Europe (it's surprisingly affordable there) to study anthropology, I think I want to add that museum to my list of places to go before I leave, I'd love to walk around and learn everything I can

Thank you for the information! I am an Anthropology student and my goal is to be an Archaeologist. Do you have any information on that subfield of Anthropology as it relates specifically to museum positions?
@AliviaBrown2 жыл бұрын
Becoming an archaeologist would be such an amazing experience,, I love hearing from people with goals like this! And yes! I think of course working in an archaeology-specific museum working as a curator, archivist, or educator would be a great option. More specifically though, you could become an archaeological collections manager! I think this would be a popular museum route for archaeology students :)

While I love my majors, sociology and international relations, I caught the anthropology and museum bug about a year ago and now I am seriously considering doing a masters program in museum studies. Do you think that is possible not being anthropology major?
@AliviaBrown2 жыл бұрын
I think it is more than possible to do a masters program in museum studies without a major in anthropology. This happens all the time!

Im from San Diego as well. I went to the University of utah and worked at the Natural History Museum of Utah. Ive moved back to SD and have been working as a field archaeologist the last year. I was wondering if you would recommend going to grad school for museum studies and or if I could get my foot in the door with Degree in anthropology, work experience in a museum, and CRM archaeology experience in Socal?

I'm studying history and what are the steps to take in order to work at museum and become an archeologist
@AliviaBrown2 жыл бұрын
That is wonderful! I think the best steps are getting involved in fieldwork and taking archaeology classes if you can. The more involved you are, the better of a chance you have to get into a PhD program to pursue becoming an archaeologist!

The positions of curator, conservator, educator and archivist are mentioned - but collection manager and docent seem to be big museum specific positions left off the list.

do you think it would be possible to get a museum career with a psychology degree

I'm currently completing my application for MLIS degree. Would I be able to pursue Museum Curator or Conservator? I've heard that Museum Archivist is possible with this degree, but would like to be able to branch out.

Im having an internship at a museum right now and I can say it is one of the worst work related experiences of my life, they have no clue what to do despite agreeing to set up a schedule etc based on my project idea, how are people supposed to learn if they have no clue themselves 🙃

I'm a graduating history major, will this impact my chances of landing a job in a museum as a curator?
@AliviaBrown2 жыл бұрын
This should not impact your chances at all! What usually matters more than the degree is your experience in the field (and a great way to do this is volunteering/working in a museum)
