Here is an updated video on my thoughts and experiences with flying Spirit Airlines. I've flown them solo, solo with a child, as well as with my family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). I have experiences flying them with a personal item only, as well as checking bags. I have never paid to pick my seat and (thankfully) it's never been an issue. Hopefully this video was helpful in your choice on if you want to take the gamble yourself and fly Spirit :)

I suggest the gate check bag for your stroller because you can sneak a few extra items in that way. I put our stroller rain cover and a few umbrellas in a drawstring nylon bag (and sometimes a thin blanket if we are going in chilly weather) and I secure it to the stroller basket with a carabiner. The stroller caddy is very basic and thin…nothing like the Petunia pickle bottom type stroller caddy….but it’s great because it has 2 small zipper pockets on it where I store extra wet-ones and Lysol wipes or tissue packets. Before our gate door opens, we put the stroller in the bag so no airline crew sees our hidden extras and then we drop the stroller off at the door next to the airplane. They are securely fastened to our stroller and inside the bag that is closed with the draw string. Just a few items that are essentials but don’t take up room in our personal bag 😉😉😉

I've done this with winter coats on a previous trip🙈 And diapers with a double stroller a few years ago to give the stroller some extra protection and to not waste room in our luggage!
