Living in a community with an active serial killer is terrifying and changes your life forever. BTK killed in my neighborhood. One victim was on our street. My sister was a lab partner of Carmen Otero's in middle school and knew Charlie Otero (the first family killed - Carmen and Charlie weren't home when it happened). Our neighborhood grocery store, a block away from our house, was where Rader left the Otero car after he killed them. We would come home from school every day and check our phone line to make sure it hadn't been cut. We NEVER. FELT. SAFE. He changed our community forever.

Most of us will never experience how traumatic it is to know that your father is one of the biggest serial killers in all of history. Yea she might not be the family of a murder victim, but she is the daughter of the killer himself so she is a victim as well. If she wants to write a book about her father and what he did I personally dont see the problem with it. I also hope all of y'all who are sending shit to this girl have this same energy towards all the crime authors out there who write about different serial killers, the victims, and the details of the murders as well because I doubt most of them share the profits with the victims family.

It's out there to say no matter how absolutely insane a hand life deals you it goes on. And you can make it. I'm so happy for her. Off course she won't act exactly like we want she is human. She isn't going to please everyone. But Imagine being the idiot criticizing her when you yourself have so many flaws and never had even close her cross to bear.

Joshua Smith If it’s actually cathartic for her on the issue and that it’s not about money then why did she feel the need to write and sell books on there when there are other ways to release those how she feels. The fact is she knew her father was one of the infamous serial killers and she’s the seed of this man, she knew it’s an opportunity to make some cash grab. I don’t get why there’s a need to remind everyone that they have flaws too as if it’s an actual arguments to defend someone else’s greed

@@jasonomnia9295 why is writing a book greedy? Or selling a book? Why is it greedy to put a story out clearly many people of faith want to read? It costs money to publish a book. Joshua Smith No you’re not, the fact that from the beginning I disagreed with your statement should already have told you that we were never in agreement to begin with, but you still took the time to respond. And as to why is it greedy, it’s because the point of selling these books are to make money. especially if you considered the fact that we have other means, like the internet, where she could have posted these for free and doesn’t have to be in book form. But instead she chose the one where she could make money from.

@@imposterblockade1826 my mother grew up in Vallejo California in the mid+late 60s and when the Vallejo murders happened a man was calling houses in the middle of the night breathing heavy and threatening people. My mother was home alone at 12 when she received one of those calls. A week later police released info that they believe that zodiac himself made the calls because he said things in a couple calls only him and detectives knew. Scary shit lol

A sociopath for a mother is the saddest hand the universe can deal. I have one in my family too. It has blown my life apart for the last several years. In case you’re a reader I would highly recommend: The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout And specifically for children of psychopaths: “Running on Empty” By Jonice Webb Both were a HUGE help to me in understanding a very painful and confusing situation. What a legacy to be left with. If i had this history in my family I’d question Would someone like BTK end up killing his own or would he kill to protect them. This guy terrifies me...even though he's locked up for life. He's the reason why I'll always look around everywhere once I come home, whether I'm alone or not. He's the reason why I make sure never to have a routine & to always be aware of my surroundings during all times, even during the day - in areas where I feel safe or comfortable...Because, the truth is - as women, we are never truly safe and we can never truly be comfortable. We must always have our wits about us and be aware enough to make sure we don't have some wacko like this guy stalking us. We have to be aware that not all monsters look like monsters, they usually look like ordinary men & that ordinary man could be anybody...

I don’t think she’s helping herself by going public with her identity. God bless her if it helps her, but it would be the last thing I’d do. I would change my name, move far away, and no one would ever know who my father was. After watching the whole 20/20 episode, it seems to me that a part of her likes the notoriety. I can’t know her heart, but from some of the things she posted on Twitter, I’m finding it difficult to believe her actions are as much about healing as they are about her need for attention. That apple evidently doesn’t fall far from the tree.
@Completetwilightfan
@Completetwilightfan 5 жыл бұрын
Cassandra Schmidt She stayed quiet for 10 years. If she wanted notoriety, I believe she would’ve come out quicker. She said part of the healing process was telling the story from her point of view, so people could understand what it’s like from the perspective of the family of a killer. I can’t imagine how traumatizing that would be, someone you grew up loving being capable of this. Obviously the victims of his crime should be focused on far more than the killer, but the family is in some ways a victim too.

This is not at all about getting attention, it's about healing. You said you would run away and change your name and hide your identity. Well she didn't want to do that she felt that she shouldn't have to do that and pretend to be on the witness protection program because of something that wasn't even her fault. By coming out publicly she was fighting back against the perception that she would have to hide her identity from people. It was her way of saying "look, this isn't my fault, this is who I am and I'm not going to change who I am we decided to do anything wrong."

Kerri is an incredible, smart, strong, caring woman- she’s not only breaking the cycle of abuse in her family but working w/ law enforcement to find her father’s other victims, bc she knows him better than anyone; but he also took her to crime scenes, incorporated murder mementos into their household, and wrote a journal abt his demented acts except he used codes and nicknames and also left piles of other clues and evidence that may be the key to solving a number of other cases in the surrounding states… why didn’t he confess to those? Oh, bc *those* states have the death penalty… & now, Kerri has an even more important and meaningful opportunity to heal by helping LE make sense of his notes, determine where/what he was doing at a certain point in time, recognize clues in the photos he took of himself re-enacting his crimes, as well as things like lead them to his favorite campsites and fishing holes… bc it turns out he dumped/buried bodies at those spots. She’s a survivor and an advocate for the unseen and lesser known/recognized victims in these cases… the criminal’s family and loved ones- ppl that share their name and for this reason alone, become targets of misplaced anger and pain from ppl all arnd the world, and that’s ABSOLUTELY uncalled for. Not only should ppl lay off her bc she’s been victimized in this whole process, but one should take a step back and think abt what life was probably like, living with a sexually sadistic, narcissistic, pathological lying, psycho-sociopath that kills ppl to obtain a feeling of power & control he desperately desires & fantasizes abt. What would it be like to live with someone like that? One can’t imagine,,, what kind of abuse did he inflict on the ppl that knew him the most intimately, and could have possibly discerned his identity? He says he would have killed his wife after she noticed that BTK misspelled the same word, in the same way, as he did… except she said nothing else… and he was able to let her live. How terrifying to look back at your entire life & redefine one of the main characters and all the moments you shared. It’s so sad and such a horrific thing to go through, likely questioning if he ever abused her. I’m glad she can recover from some of the trauma she’s been put through and sadness and pain at the loss of her father, and beyond impressed she is helping LE solve cold cases and hope it’s therapeutic for her to help other victims. God bless her.
