I always wanted to do a podcast that brings up deeper insights about our Judaism and gives strength to young people who are alone and struggling. I choose to interview my father first, and the conversation was more than I could've ever imagined: We were laughing and crying together, as we spoke about perseverance, strength, helplessness, relationships, and how to see G-d's hand in our lives in a most positive way.

I'm so glad you are doing a podcast now. We need frum guys like you, that can speak to both Modern Orthodox and Charedi/Chassidic, to hold important conversations with such inspiring people. We all appreciate the same things, and there is not as much of a difference philosophically as you might think. There are many other podcasts that get amazing guests, but don't always ask the best questions to get the good stuff out of them. There is much gold (wisdom) to be mined out there.

This is the Most REAL podcast. Where each of you bore your heart on your sleeves! I felt pain for your fathers longing for his father...I would have loved to hear more about how that relationship evolved in later years... The messiras nefesh of your fathers mother was something extraordinary....im sure she's seeping the rewards now! What struck me was the toling...the efforting...the persistence on your fathers part to stay true to his soul's calling... In so far aa to your own journwy with your father....it was tear-jerking. Real and honest. But also painful how even "love is not always enough" to protect and understand a child. I could relate to so much of your feelings..of back then... "inbetween the chairs" Whatvinfind beautiful - is how both you and your father, made yidddishkeit your own. How you didn't allow your experiences to marr your relationship with the Eibishter. Can't imagine how much that takes... im moved beyond words

💙💯💯 Dear R. Ari ~ WOW, what a moment to share with us. I'm only 10 minutes (10:20) in, and I *KNOW* I cannot miss watching this entirely. Shkoyach! I cannot wait to get back to finish, I'yH. My dear brother R. Avi, I love hearing stories ~ the lives and insights of others. I find tremendous chizuk from R. Nachum ~ If only I were blessed to have a father like yours, a huge matana! I just got back from Neitz to begin watching more. I’m getting closer to the point of “Super Thanks,” I’yH ~ As for R. Eli, MDY is currently on hold ~ I have to listen to more of “MY FATHER.” I can relate to his experience, but in my case, I was unfortunate to have a father who beat me, sometimes for legitimate reasons and often for no reason at all. He was the firstborn child from Czechoslovakia who traveled to America with his father. His entire family was left behind in Europe, where death and tragedy took their toll, leaving my father without his mother and most of his siblings. As a result, his tatty’s life quickly fell apart. In a paradoxical twist, I became the opposite of my father. I became ultra-observant, found self-respect, and raised my family to follow the same path. I sought the best education I could afford for them and, most importantly, I never laid a hand on my children. They inspired me to embrace Chassidus. This became my paradoxical remedy: I turned out to be everything my father was not, בּ״ה. To this day, I honor my father’s memory, but I will never love him. He is responsible for bringing me into this world. To be continued ~ I must watch more, so exciting!

This video is so well done because it's raw and real. That's rough to get kicked out. I'd say from my own experience growing up chasidish and I am Bh still chasidish. It was an adjustment. My mother comes from 100% chasidish blood but her father became yeshivish. My mother went to a chasidish school and became chasidish. I was embarrassed that my mother speaks Lithuanian yidish (most people don't speak like that) and one day I realized this is the Yidish I grew up with. Instead of being embarrassed, I will be proud. A lot of times parents find their place and the next generation goes along with it but they feel like outcast. My whole class the mothers didn't cover their shaitels and my mother does. I always had a complex about it. My mother always says the gerrer joke about herself א געווארענע איז ערגער ווי א געבוירענע. Today, I say to myself she does what she does and you do, what you do. The same applies to any kid who's parents became more modern (the father is walking around with a heavy chasidish accent) they are ashamed. The same applies to kids that the parents are balei teshuva- they do not have an easy time. Their parents are walking around like they found God and the children can't relate to it. What's so beautiful here is that Rabbi Chaimowitz was raised with the Yeshivish derech and became chasidish. This is a good mixture because his learning is like a Litvak but his bren is chasidish. What a zchus!
