Around 4:10 when you're showing the slow mo bit and adding the sound of your feet hitting the floor is brilliant, really helps emphasise the form needed. Thanks Zack!

Looks like the main benefit comes from doing reps. Maybe starting from front rack position on singles would help duplicate that dynamic escentric.

keyword "accessory". this is not an optimal way to approach the FULL clean
@AakarshanB5 жыл бұрын
@@ethanbairdWL sure i get it, but it's hard to forget and then relearn something. Its also like becoming a thing where every youtuber comes out with an accessory even though nobody in the sport does them.
@ethanbairdWL5 жыл бұрын
Aakarshan Bhagat the problem is a lot of people jump on the bandwagon of making a video about a “hack” or “trick” that’s supposed to fix something and people thinking it’s absolute or necessary. i appreciate zack’s disclaimer of “you are not required to perform this exercise” so beginners don’t freak out. a big part of weightlifting is figuring out variations to the classics that help and work for you. some things everyone should learn (like hang snatch) but a lot of variations could be considered unnecessary. if this exercise causes a lot of problems for you, i just wouldn’t incorporate it.

how do i transition the other way? I only performed this style of hang clean, and got quite good at it. Now I’m trying to learn a traditional pull, and am struggling as my old habits want to take over. Suggestions of drills that will help?

What a great exercise, and even better explanation and instruction. As to the shirt needing to come off...... its even hotter here in FLA, and we don’t do that. But, Brazos Barbell a bit like living the poseur style in Cali? Well done Coach

Feel so weak if I don't start with the bar below the knee.. Can't seem to generate any power it I don't
@pteronurabra Жыл бұрын
Thank you Zach. It looks like theres a lot of space between the bar and thighs or maybe its the video angle. In any case is that ok? I always hear that too much space between the body and bar is a weakness. Thanks again!🙌💪
@shanehunsicker1035 жыл бұрын
so what do we call this? A power clean from the knee, that is dynamic? Power clean [knee] (no pause)? My only issue is that you are pulling from below the power position as you initiate the second pull. I feel like this may not be ideal for the full clean in the long run. But thanks for the video and your time! Always good stuff!

if i can't catch cleans while using straps, is that more of a mobility issue or is it possible my anatomy just sucks

Zach, I’m a tall lifter similar to you, 6’2” and I’m wondering why with this lift in particular you don’t have hip contact but on your full clean you do. I know you have to have contact with your hip in the clean but why not in this accessory lift?
@deliciousjunk53125 жыл бұрын
I assume because the emphasis is on upper back pulling rather than hip extension sharing the work.

Full extension of the hips to the bar will yield more overall body strength. Your upper body is barely contracting at the traps. Most of the work being done with your form is through the quads and lower back sir.
