It’s my favorite bind-off for top-down shawls!
Knit Two Together Through the Back Loop (k2tog tbl) Bind Off:
Knit the first two stitches through the back loops. *Slip the stitch from the right needle to the left needle, knit two stitches together through the back loops; repeat from * until all stitches are bound off.
So easy!

I've used this bind off before and forgot how nice it is. I didn't realize it was so flexible without the flair that comes with some stretchy bind offs. Thanks! I was looking for a nice bind off for the shawl I'm almost finished with. Your video came up! I'll use it again.

Very interesting. I now want to do this one and the expandable lace bind off side by side and see how they differ.

Yes, I wonder how the two would compare. I've never tried the expandable lace bind off.

Would this method be a decent version of a bind off for a large super chunky wool herringbone scarf that had a cable cast on? Or would it be too stretchy? Thanks!

I too would like to know if it gets the pointed edge from just a straight edge? Or can you share your pattern that this shawl is from? Thanks Great video.

Thank you for this video. I have used this bind off on my last two shawls, and in my pattern, I linked to your video for a "how to". That being said, can you tell me what that pattern stitch is on your swatch? I love it!

I use it on toe-up socks all the time! It works great as long as it's worked loosely.

For a better version of what you're doing, look at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJOmomx_hLlkhKc With her bind-off, you turn the stitch before putting it back on the left needle. The edging then looks less floppy -- it's crisp, straight, and stays along the edge instead of flopping to one side or the other. After I saw her video, I've never use another bind-off since. (Actually, one exception: From Cheryl Brunette, it's better to use the old-fashioned plain bind-off for shoulders of sweaters, and along the back of the neck, instead of joining live stitches, because that bind-off is stiff and doesn't give, which keeps the shoulders and neck from sagging and losing shape.)

Would this bind off be good for any knitted projects, this looks so much less awkward than the traditional bind off. Love the video

Would this work in purl.
@craftyjencrafts
@craftyjencrafts 5 жыл бұрын
Yep! I would purl 2 together VERY loosely. I would not go through the back loops on the purls because I think it will make the stitches too tight and also purling through the back loop is kind of hard. :)
@PapercraftLady
@PapercraftLady 5 жыл бұрын
I just finished a mobius cowl that, had I needed to work another row would have been purl. So I used this method purling (normally, not through the back loops) and it looks great.
