I really want the Derwent Drawing pencils. Comparitively they arent "as bad"😂 cost wise.

I quite enjoy my Star Joy Gold set. The lack of white is less of an issue as I tend to use white paper and find there are enough light shades to use white the same way I tend to use the white in other sets. I also like the wide range of creams/tans/browns for skin-tones. A couple recommendations here I haven't tried yet -- so appreciative of this as I'm always searching for "the perfect" set or fun unique colors to put together a solid collection of colors.

The useful thing about a big set is that there is usually a lot of close overlap in hue, so you often have a backup pencil waiting if you start to use up your favorites. 🐈

thanks so much for this video! of what i own, markart is my favorite budget pencil...if i buy anymore sets i'll get whichever of these are on sale!😅 I appreciate your opinion!....the hair page is just marvelously beautiful! I don't think anyone could guess Crayola. I imagine the paper you used helped. I bought your preferred paper for pencil and I like it very much...just a side note , we got 10 inches of snow when it was all said and done. good gracious! I live in south alabama! it was fun to experience it but now i'm ready for it to go awayshould all be gone by sat.

We moved house last yr & I didn't have access to my Prisma set for a while. Wanted to color so I bought an emergency set of Amazon Basics on sale, 25 set for ~4 dollars. After using them I wanted more colors so got a Kalour 72 set for $9. The Kalours are creamier & easier to use. The Amazons are a little harder. Both sets were super cheap so I find it hard to complain abt them. They're cheap pencils that do the job. The Kalours especially are v good for the money. I've combined the 2 sets to create a set I use for coloring in cheap col books when I want a mindless coloring session & don't want to use up my more expensive pencils. I also have a set of Crayolas but don't like them as much as the Kalours.

The Amazon Basics are a very nice pencil for color selection and vibrancy, soft lay down without being fragile, and a thick core with plenty of lead for the money. They are a great pencil for older people, especially in assisted living etc. who want something better than school kid pencils like crayolas. They resemble Arteza and Prismacolor at a much lower price. Easy to teach blending while coloring to seniors with these -- they go easy on stiff, older hands and blend very well. I've given the 48 and 72 sets as gifts and it's a hit every time.

My favorite "budget" pencil brand is Schpirerr Farben, too bad they didn't think of expanding the range and stopped at 96.
@KessaWitdaFro2 күн бұрын
Love these guys too. If you like them you might like the cezanne set. They're a bit smoother and have 120 colors!
@meticule22 күн бұрын
@@KessaWitdaFro Thanks for suggesting Cezanne, but I think I have more sets of these budget friendly pencils than I need, at least in this lifetime. Oh another brand I also like (but probably not easy to get hold of in North America though) is Colleen, Japanese brand and produced in Thailand. I find them *almost* as "creamy" as Prismacolor Premier, thus yielding very smooth blending. I have the 120 set.

I've been a Prismacolor ADDICT since long before 'adult coloring' was a thing. Still am, and I love them. But recently bought the 'Harmonious' collection from Castle Arts (just because I loved the greyed palette) and as a supplemental set, they are NICE pencils to have and use. Castle Arts PastelTint set looks nice too (not sure I need it, but .... 😄) I also do have, and sometimes use, Crayola. Mostly for browns, beiges, tans, etc., that I don't use a lot and don't have a Prisma in those colors.

I actually really like the PastelTints -- hate the price. But they are so soft and fun to use

Let me preface this to say that I am NOT an artist, and just like using colored pencils in coloring books. (I am more of a watercolor gal) That said, I have the Kalour 180 set, and I really like them. I also really like the Prina 120 set, which are oil based (I know they all have wax). The Prina set came in a nice zippered case with 2 sketchbooks, one with black paper and one with assorted colored paper. And I think they were about 24 cents per pencil. I also have the Amazon basics, but I didn't care for them much. And of course I have a 72 set of Prismacolor that I got when they were still affordable (many years ago). They are not in my budget anymore, so I use them sparingly. But honestly, the Kalour and Prina work just as well for me for the kind of coloring I do. They layer and blend really nicely, and the Prinas especially have leads that don't break when I sharpen them, unlike the delicate Prismacolor.

I wish Amazon would a 150 basics set that would be amazing ❤❤

I've separated my Prismacolor by LF ratings; I+II go together in a section for serious drawings / coloring and then I go "lower" in LF for coloring books and sketchbook concepts

Arteza started out too pricey, but they have gone down in price. Not a bad pencil that performs quite like Prismacolor, although without the wonderful hues Prismas have in greens, browns, light neutrals and greys for nature work.
@ColorfullyOptimistic19 сағат бұрын
They actually shot up in price from the OG day they released. They've come down a bit realizing they can't compete, but they were MUCH cheaper when they first came out
