I primarily shot with the Canon R3, but once I picked up the Leica Q2 Monochrom my entire outlook changed on the process of making photos. It's definitely my favorite camera!! 🙏🏽📸🎯

i know exactly what you mean. been shooting weddings for 10 years, more or less the same way, until i started using the Q2 for my personal life, and its certainly changing how i apprach weddings.

I watched your review a little over a year ago before I started travelling and was on the search for a camera I could easily pack in a bag, have the quality to print, and not have to decide between lenses everywhere I go. I was hesitant about settling on 28mm but as I do almost all landscape shots. Everything seemed right so I bought it. I've taken about 20,000+ shots with it to this day and I have no regrets. I love not deciding between lenses. I love the formfactor. I love the quality of images. I love the tactile feeling of using it. I don't even use the screen 90% of the time unless I'm fiddling around to get the ISO right. This camera has fit every need I had. I've shot 26 countries from the top of mount Fuji to the Norwegian fjords and not once did i think "i wish i had my EOS R and 5 lenses with me." The only niche gripe I've had is how the camera doesn't do well at night particularly with slow shutter photos. To this day I've been unable to turn off the auto denoise feature after a slow shutter image, and it often results in gross color banding/blending. But that's not what I bought the camera for, just a limitation I've come to ignore. if I'm determined to get the shot I will just shoot in black and white, or just fix it in photoshop. The camera has been great and I thank you for your videos about it.

Hi Luis, thanks for making the video. I own several Canon and Sony pro level bodies and glass that I use only for work. June this year I purchased my first ever Leica camera, a Q3. I just can't put it down, it goes everywhere I go within reason and the image quality just cannot be matched with my other brand cameras. The simplicity and neat tidy appearance along with the insanely high quality lens all come together to make this camera my favourite. Put it this way, I would gladly just sell off all my other gear and only keep the Q3. Why don't I? Well, I have made the Q3 exclusively to be used for personal work, documenting my personal life, hence I call it " My Life Camera " I will never ever use the Q3 for work and so while still being an active shooter, I need the other bodies. Its Christmas Eve as I type this, Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Nice vid that sums up the quality and quirks of the Q2 nicely. My Q2M is definitely my fav camera. Even though I use X2Ds and SL2s professionally and an M11 and M7 personally. The camera may look and feel basic, but everything is very intentionally designed with a photographer in mind. The absolute star is the lens. It must be one of the best wide-angles I’ve ever used. Regardless of brand. Restricting yourself to one or two focal lenghts is probably the best you can do to improve your photography. Recently I picked up a Sony A7CR for a couple of days and though it’s a very capable camera, it’s much more a swiss pocket knife. It does a lot of things when you’re into specs, but the photography stuff never reaches the level of a Q2 or Q3. One small addition. JPEG settings don’t only allow you the choice of 5 profiles, but also per profile the level of saturation, contrast and sharpening. Nevertheless, it’s basic and for better quality and more options it’s recommended to use presets (LR) or styles (C1) in post processing.

Thanks Luis! Good solid review from a user perspective, which I think is better than just a ‘gear” perspective. I’m a Fuji user and love the XT5, but I picked up a used Leica Q2M a few months ago and I’m loving it! I’m still getting used to all of the controls, especially focus, both auto and manual, but it’s great. The real test on whether I want to shoot more with a monochrome camera is whether the low light ability is really worth it. The Q3 with added resolution may just give me an even more versatile camera, with high quality monochrome to boot! It’s always good to see you and your reviews. Geoff

I have found the Q2 to be an exquisite camera. Can’t afford a Q3/43. The D-Lux 8 is interesting for lesser budget.

I had a Q2 and somewhat reluctantly upgraded to the Q3 (for better video and low-light) and regret it. The Q2's button layout and overall simplicity is something I really miss for some weird reason. I don't use the Q3's flip-out screen nearly enough to justify it and I've mostly learned to avoid low-light situations without a tripod even with the Q3's improved performance.

Great video! I see you are using Samyang AF 35mm f/1.8 FE Lens for Sony, how is the quality? I heard color fringing issue with this lens

It’s okay for the price and size but it’s not anything special. I definitely think that the compact 24mm or 40mm is the way to go!

At 2:20, the text says "All of these were taken on Q2/Monochrom", but there's a colour photo. Is that photo kidnoble's photo on another camera or was it inserted by mistake?

There’s two version of the Q2! The regular and the monochrome. That particular photographer has shot with both. 😊

@@luischavezphoto I know. The previous paragraph gave the impression that he had two cameras, a Q2 Monochrom and an M10. But he has three cameras: a Q2, a Q2 Monochrom and an M10.

Quick question, I just picked up an A7CII open-box and I noticed there’s a slight gap between the bottom two shutter blades. Does yours have the same slight gap between the shutter blades? It’s only noticeable when you’re looking down at it from an angle. Not sure if this impacts performance but want to make sure I dont have a defective camera
