Hi Peachy, love your content! I too am a reversal trader (primarily shorts in this current bear market). I've placed over 200 shorts this year and 95% were profitable - my account is up 283% YTD trading only ES. I aim for consistent base hits and let things compound by increasing my trade size as the account grows. The reason the short side works so well is the down moves are so much faster than up moves. Say for example a 30-point up move takes 2 days. It might completely reverse in 1 hour which is 48x faster. My strategy is to be patient like you suggested and I have a stop that (usually slightly above a recent high) and put in a limit order at the same time I place the trade. Then as soon as it is ITM more than the last red candle I move the stop to ensure no loss. Then just keep moving the stop down manually. I stop trading at 5 trades per day (usually only 2-3).

Watching professional trading videos and most especially connecting with the right person the digital world is full of in unreal people I met some of them during my success journey. Guys/gals, spot consolidation areas, draw a line in the middle, its now your support resistance level. Wait for price to show a bullish or bearish signal off that line (I like to see wicks or engulfing). Now buy/sell and TP at the closest order block (big long candle that has not been filled next to a little candle). Rinse and repeat. Your welcome

I tend to trade reversals as well, and to answer the critics... I do it because you don't know what's to the "right" side of the chart... you DO know what has happened. And since the market tends to return to where it was quite often, you can catch good trades, calculate good risk/reward because you're targeting where the market was.
@entertainingvideos1351 Жыл бұрын
Regarding the "you're not supposed to have A+ setups every day" : You can become drowned in 'A+' setups every day if you monitor 500 stocks and code Ninja to scan for specific scenarios. My constant problem is having too many setups at once because I allow B/C quality, since they can often still produce better results than the 'perfect' setups. I see you use Ninja, maybe you'd get some value from coding a scanner. You could probably whip something up in 15mins to a few hours depending on complexity of the scenarios you are looking for.

Beginner in futures here... - Wouldn't you make more if you simply moved your stop loss a healthy bit behind the trend? You can constantly move your stop loss slightly behind the trend, right? That way if the trend constantly moves in your favor you can hit the peaks before getting stopped out. (I do get how following with your stop loss can prematurely stop you out if it moves sideways. But so does getting out too early)

Hey P. Appreciate all the informative videos. Looking for context here. If you’re making $4k on these trades that are making you ~0.8 per stock, you’re buying roughly $2 million in stock. It's very difficult with a person who has a reversal trade mindset to follow trend, because you're looking for the signs of reversal, and the more it goes, the more confident you become knowing a reversal is coming.... hence you miss the trend trade. I have lost a lot of money looking for reversals. I think realizing the trend is better, and getting out or flipping at the sign it may be coming.

Best advice is to find a style that works for you, which you won't figure out for months or maybe even years. Everyone always says never to catch a falling knife (the most extreme form of reversal), yet it works for me, and has done for years. But if I showed someone what I do, and they tried to use my method, 99% of people would lose money. My brain just works differently I guess.

Kinda newto this futures stuff but wanted to ask if you've tried with any success entering the trade as a OCO order, settingan entry limit 4 ticks below market, then a profit level at, say 6-10 ticks on ES and a stop at 3-4 ticks? More generally, could a mechanical method of trading futures (ES, CL, GC) via OCO trades work, using trend to place your bets?

I ran across this video earlier today and literally skipped it thinking ‘way to young’ and then saw it a second time come up. Ya fooled me! Wow,never has anyone clearly expressed the reversal mindset. I much prefer sitting patiently waiting for a setup that occasionally runs into a trend trade where adding to a winning position just makes sense without the stress, Fisk and anxiety of buying pullbacks. Really enjoyed it and BFRG is ready to slingshot up. Only 5.5M shares but the story with Johns Hopkins is real.
