I didn't for a long time and it was fine, but when I finally got one I really preferred the drawing experience. I wouldn't say it affects the drawing quality like how it looks but its just a little bit more comfortable imo.

I’m really late but does it take practice or technique to paint something without an obvious outline? I struggle to draw/paint lines like yours. Not a full outline, but a combination of painting with the brushes and shading. I’ve always wanted to draw a similar art style like yours 🥺

Transitioning from outlines to a more painterly style is a tough transition - to get there, you have to practice seeing values and think like a sculptor. Edges in painterly styles are defined by a dark and light value next to each other, rather than an outline. Hope that kinda helps! I also have a skillshare class if youre interested that talks a bit more about seeing values.

Hi, which brush can you use to color in shapes. I don't always want to use the "drop in" color but instead color something with a brush, however most of the brushes I have tested change their opacity or 'fill' based on how hard I press or if lines are overlapping. Surely there should be some kind of solid color brush to just lay down some base colors before going in to refine with shadows and highlights?

I changed the brush source from texture to a solid white circle. Although recently I've actually been using the studio pen brush (found in the inking brushes category)

You have multiple ipads? Apple has an exchange program where they take old apple products for credit that you could use towards a new ipad. And if you buy an older one/refurbished that reduces the cost even further.

Copy the brushes? You don't need to copy them. I'm using defaults, so they should already be in there.
