I used to hateee Biles 2019's music, but after the Tokyo twisties incident, I can't help but watch it in awe. She really performs it and it helps that that is probably the most iconic floor routine of the 2017-2021 quad with the triple double

@@bluepanther1013 I like her Olympics routine better because it's more mature and dramatic than her other one which is more playful and definitely more.of a junior look for her which isn't bad, but as a senior I like her Olympic one because it's more powerful. Also, it's super dramatic which reflects how we were all feeling during the Olympics.

All of these were beautiful. In addition I really enjoyed Murakami Mai's routines from the 2020 Olympics and 2021 Worlds. Melnikova had some beautiful routines this year too.
@vreedlak18332 жыл бұрын
I loved Melnikova's routine as well. It was interesting because she cleverly picked 4 cuts of music so that she could perform dance elements "in sync" with the music. Just about all of the other gymnasts throw at least one dance move that isn't remotely with the music to meet the requirements.

I love the moment when 2019 Suni does her wolf turn combo, because even though “ugh two wolf turns” the music is so appropriately timed, like it pauses and then waits for her to resume her second turn lol. Edit: the music is “Pirates, Thugs and Bandits” from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey! Also play the game, it’s fun :)

Ragan had some of the best floor routines in the last quad!!! Sometimes watching her reminds me so much of a very young Kim Zmeskal I saw in Paris at the International de Paris when Marta brought her and Chelle Stack...nobody had head of Kim, and then she exploded on floor and the journalists fell in love...I was mesmerized. her triple whip double tuck was beyond anyone else on the floor that night using some French CanCan music!!! The competition was a good one for Stack but Kim stone the show!!!

@@Appaddict01 I agree, that was by far one of the best I've seen in years. If I could build a time machine I would sit her and her coach down and force them to let her elbow heal properly before attempting to do anything that hinders the process.
@Appaddict013 жыл бұрын
MD-722 In hindsight she probably should have taken off all of 2018.
@MD-7223 жыл бұрын
@@Appaddict01 Literally. For me it was when I was watching Golden and she was there outwardly admitting to doing things such as trying to train bars up to as little as 1 week after surgery provided she could at least _"hang on the high bar"_ and the fact that her coach allowed it! When I saw that all I could say was _"*that*_ right there was how your career was sabotaged," especially when she showed the camera the state of her elbow. Morgan Hurd was my *FAVOURITE* American gymnast of the 2017-2021 quad. After first being introduced to her at the 2017 Stuttgart Cup I was blown away to see an American gymnast with a completeness comparable to those of Golden Age. Of course in time she was followed by several others as the quad went on--Riley McCusker; Mailie O'Keefe; Sunisa Lee; Leanne Wong; Kara Eaker etc--but when became World Champion in 2017 I stood up and declared that the pendulum had swung! So when I found what had actually been going on, I was *infuriated.* Because considering she got injured at the VERY beginning of the quad, taking the ample time off to rest and recover properly should have been the priority from the start. But the refusal to do so caused her to never meet her full potential (even as a specialist) and ultimately cost her her place on the Olympic team.
@Appaddict013 жыл бұрын
MD-722 Yes, it was a huge mistake. I absolutely loved that early 2017 ending pose, it gave me Ivana Hong vibes. I love all of those gymnasts. That is, why, I get super annoyed when people act like artistic American gymnasts don’t exist. Just because they might not make the Olympic team doesn’t mean they don’t exist. This happens almost every quad. I think my overall favorite routine of the last five years is from Helen Hu. kzbin.info/www/bejne/laGlZGefrcxnotk

@@rawendhamid3665 Gymnastics is a sport that involves dancing; hence why WAG floor routines are performed to music. It is incredibly challenging to be able to tumble and dance with equal profiency--which is why even those with low difficulty still can't do so. But more than that, tumbling is not why gymnastics is a sport, sports are sports because of their formats. And in the case of artistic-sports it is because they have codes of points, standardised scoring systems and objective composition requirements to be fulfilled in each exercise--whether they include dance or not. Hence why breaking is set to become an Olympic sport. Then most of all the word "gymnastics" is actually in reference to the dance elements, not the acrobatics, so how much more so the choreography? So if you like Jade Carey, that is perfectly fine--to each be their own. But dance is the primary reason that women's FX is the most watched event of any discipline in the FIG, so if a floor-worker shows a lack of proficiency in that area they will draw criticism for that.
