I love Mark's passion and respect for the woods he uses as well as for the luthier's relationship with his or her guitar. His dedication and pride in his craft are an inspiration for any field or work. Who wouldn't want one of his luminous guitars once you see one and feel its energy?!

I have to agree with everything written here. My favorite aspect of this interview is that it applies widely to art and creating in general - I will be revisiting this conversation for years to come.

Thrilled to see this episode. I’m honored to have had Mark build me a guitar to play for my daughters. I loved his enthusiasm for the build. The “Lullaby Guitar” is an absolute treasure.

I'm not familiar with that one, I'll have to check out Mark's Flickr page sometime. Congrats to you, I'm deeply inspired every time I sit with my Greta.

I was so looking forward to this episode... and enjoyed it immensely! Thanks to both of you ! ..owning one or the other Hatcher myself, I now feel that my perspective of those guitars, both bought 2nd hand and built by Mark for me, ..has evolved literally by getting a littler closer and more personal to the man. My appreciation was strong already and I was drawn to Marks designs in the 1st place visually (much like you Dustin) - unintentional and almost naturally organic - they just caught my eye.. something about them just fits (visully for now) , the dimensions and ratios, the curves and craftsmanship, the materials.. seem so harmonic to me... then, on top, I searched for videos - simply because from Germany there was an as good as zero chance to get my greedy fingers and ears on a real one... and then, once I had at least compared video clips online - the sound came in addition- luckily now, in hindsight and that I have them for real, both impressions- visual and sonical- still hold, but with that extra ‚3-dimensional‘ and sensoric experience to hold them, play them and look at them myself, all is amplified. I hope I will get a chance sometime to meet Mark in person, to shake his hand and thank him for what he did for me. Thanks for the effort time and heart to make that episode ! Klaus/Lonzo

Danke schön, Klaus. Curious what guitar models/woods you have from Mark? I might consider ordering another in the future. I love his Cedar guitars and think it may be a good addition to have one with mahogany or walnut as a different voice to the spruce and rosewood I typically reach for. The first guitar I played from him was cedar and it felt like it had the power of spruce!

Wonderful Interview, , I also really love the Beauty of Mark Hatcher’s Guitars, , I played one in Nashville and it was a pleasure visually and in it’s Tone. Obvious is his different bracing patterns of the back. As always Dustin your playing at the end was Beautiful.

There’s something special to my ears with how this guitar handles “rolls”, like in the last sections. The bridge/top delivers an audibly clear response to a light touch!

@@DustinFurlow For sure! in my experience it's really hard to find a guitar with a good balance of overtones, clarity, and responsiveness. This guitar certainly delivers that in my opinion
