To be more specific, someone with a more masculine sounding voice might find it harder to reach a more feminine sounding voice without it sounding forced. We use exercises, such as the phrase, to sound more natural or at least more cisnormative. Keep in mind that this explanation is probably awful and you would be better off searching elsewhere for a better one.
