Legion Loyalty would be an amazing one to clone as myriad stacks, plus by itself would give temporary clones of your enchantment creatures to give mega value (also will be an 8/8 that swings at all of your opponents)

So excited for this as I just started planning an enchantment-heavy esper deck earlier today. Sen Triplet would work fine as a commander, but this fits much better and feels a lot less rude to play. My one big addition to the list of cards to pair with this would be "Enchanted Evening." Heavily discourages the enchantment-based board-wipes people may look to to circumvent the hexproof Zur provides, and allows your normally non-enchantment creatures plus the tokens made by Empty Throne to benefit from Zur as well.

Mitch, i know someone mentioned theros gods. but they also didnt mention the fact that xur can bypass their devotion cost. it may weaken them but in some cases but you will still have indestructible gods that cant be turned off. not to mention xur still giving them all the other effects if he's on the field

Just so someone checks, i do believe not even Curse card is also an Aura. So you might be able to get a quick blocker out from your enemys pain if needed ^^

I think it would be safe to follow what Clever Impersonator says in Gatherer when copying animated enchantments. Clever Impersonator copies exactly what is printed on the chosen permanent (unless that permanent is copying something else or is a token; see below). It doesn’t copy whether that permanent is tapped or untapped, whether that permanent has any counters on it or any Auras and/or Equipment attached to it, and it doesn’t copy any non-copy effects that have changed that permanent’s power, toughness, types, color, abilities, or so on.

Here’s a 3 cards fun combo you can attempt: Play “Lich's Mastery” then as long as each of your opponent have at least one creature, cast: “Mirrorweave”, followed by “echoing truth” both targeting your animated Lich’s enchantment :-) Every one will get a “LTB loose the game trigger” but yours will resolve last ! 👍

okay it's more for the effect but hear me out... with enchanted evening all permanents are enchantments.. now you have to give all your creatures +1/+1 so you can turn a land into a creature without it dying... and then copy it... :D ... clunky as hell I love it

Yes yes yes!!!! One of the newer commanders where you can pay two remove counters from creatures, mil then play a card from graveyard. I had that built around opalesence and starfield of nyx as a saga commander. Just keep on removing counters from whichever saga effects you want to keep spamming and keep playing the cheaper ones from graveyard. Now I can have the effect in the command zone and not always durdle around when I don’t get starfield or opal!! Just gonna have to swap out the enchantment tutors and put in others for all the counter removing stuff instead

Someone may have already said it but yes your plan works. If you activate Zur on sphere of safety then cast clone the cone is not a creature. Copy happens on layer 1, then type changes happen on layer 4.

Your understanding of clones is correct. I have done extensive research on clone interactions. As long as what you are copying is legal. Now if it was mutated....the clone gets all of the effects from the mutate, just not the number of times it was mutated

I asked this on mtg ask a judge and they said the tokens would not retain the creature type and would just become enchantments. I don't understand how this works.

@@okaymikegaming When they come into play copying an animated enchantment, they come in as a non-animated enchantment. Clone effects only copy what is originally written on the card. Any outside effects like auras, equipment, or anthem-like effects do not copy over. Zur falls into this category for certain. Only new things that would copy over are the following Mutated And Copies that says "except it has" in addition to that of the original (example: mythos of iluna when spending rguu, token copy fights upon etb)

The clone not being a creature is correct, same reason why it wouldn't get any counters the cloned permanent had (unless it would enter with them) You only copy what's printed on whatever card you're copying. I can't wait to make enough phyrexian arenas to kill and/or deck myself with this. Also enchanted evening seems kinda dumb in this deck

Enchanted Evening + Opalescense + Aura Thief. Make everyone's permanents enchantments, then make them all creatures, then sacrifice Aura Thief and steal the entire battlefield, including lands. You don't need Opalescence to steal everything, but I still like the idea...

If you''re breaking the bank you might check out Opalescence and Replenish., commander redundancy and board-wipe protection. These cards used be key cards for a high level standard deck called Replenish waaaaay-back-when that killed with animated enchantments.

Me and my friend brought this up to discussion today. I love this commander..think it’s super cool. I have legion loyalty which states whenever you attack with a creature it has myriad. So you create copies of the attacking creature but if the creatures power/Toughness is equal to its mana value and since tokens don’t have mana would they dissipate??

Played Zur last night. Cast a Hedonist's Trove on blue player to exile his graveyard. Animated the Hedonist's Trove to make it a 7/7. Next turn cast my opponent's Rite of Replication, kicked, to make 5 Hedonist's Troves exiling all of my opponent's graveyards and ending up with five more 7/7 Hexproof, Lifelink, Deathtouch creatures and a large selection of cards to play.

Idk how much it's worth, though I'm guessing more than your normal budget restrictions, but enchanted evening would be disgusting in this deck too. Evening would allow you to use zur's ability on your creatures, plainswalkers, and artifacts too. Your lands too I suppose but idk why you'd want to do that lol

I think the Golden Pig would actually be rite of replication. For 4 mana you get a token copy and for 9 mana you get 5. Copying it would be an insane finisher

I tried this in Arena and the copies do not come in as creatures. Is this a true interaction? Plus side, myriad makes it so they can’t be blocked since they are not creatures, down side they are not punching face. Thoughts?

I guess the one thing that doesn’t click for me is how you can copy your creature enchantments if they all have hexproof. Does that work around hexproof or am I misunderstanding that rule?

Your thinking of shroud. Hexproof protects from oppenents targeting your creatures. Shroud has protection from targeting from all spells and abilities.

I do believe when you animate the enchantment and then clone it, the clone also comes in as a creature. I'm not 100% sure about that, but I remember some similar interactions in a friend's Volrath the Shapestealer deck. Still an awesome deck concept regardless! If you want to be a bit of a douche, wouldn't "Out of Time" work spendidly with Zur? Out of Time hits the battlefield and the effect goes on the stack --> Use Zur to turn it into a creature before the effect resolves --> Use something to protect Zur (optional) --> Phase out every creature on the battlefield INCLUDING "Out of Time". Which means that every creature will be phased out permanently until you are removed from the game. So if you really hate those pesky commanders of your friends, just remove them forever! Or am I missing something here?

That's already a ruling on the Gatherer, I'm guessing maybe there's another way to turn it into a creature, so yes, it and everything exiled with it is permanently gone.
