Thanks to ‪@SomethingLatte‬ for tagging me to share my favorite preloved luxury bags! I went a step further to share in which year I purchased each bag and what I paid (since some of you asked). I hope this information will be helpful to those of you who may be doing your own research on the preloved luxury market. While it's fun to shop in stores, there's something especially satisfying about finding a gem on the secondhand / vintage market. You set the conditions and the price and then let the hunt begin!

I love preloved market. I got my Chanel medium double flap caviar gold plated hardware for $6,750 excellent condition with the black interior Dec 2021. I also got my jumbo excellent condition caviar ghw $6,095 Sept 2021. You could say I overpaid for the medium but this was the time in boutique you could not get them or find them. If anything came in, it was offered to other people. But now, looking back, glad I jumped on them.

I definitely get the preloved bug! I bought a Givenchy Nano Backpack (I've always wanted a convertible backpack) in 2022 and loved it so much so in 2023 I got the LV mini pochette (would never pay full price at the current price lol) and YSL baby duffle (practical, non-flashy bag with good leather). I actually like looking at designer bags that don't hold value because I still get the quality but pay much much less for it. I'm on the hunt the perfect old Bottega or Celine for me.

I love my Celine Box (the same as yours). I got it preloved from VC. I am actually using it today and I have to say it’s not a comfortable bag. 😂 But I will always love it and keep it. My best preloved purchase is my Vintage CF from a trusted reseller. It’s always love Chanel lambskin. My CF cardholder is also in lambskin but bought it new from London.

I love all those bags. I got most of my bags between 2017-2020 as well. I appreciate your sharing the prices because it makes us think twice about if it is necessary to really buy now or what prices could float back to and then you have overpaid. I think it is a good decision to keep the Box bag its beautiful.

Thank you for sharing the video; it was quite informative. I appreciate your willingness to share your personal experience, as I understand that these kinds of purchases can be quite personal. Although I am interested in getting the Chanel WOC or single flap, it is currently only on my mental wishlist as I have other financial goals that I need to prioritize.

I had only 3 experiences with buying pre-loved, all in last year. First, I bought a brand new Lady Dior at 60% of the retail price then. I was over the moon. Lady Dior is not difficult to come across in pre-loved market but they mostly are slightly used. Brand new is more rare. That is my very first experience with buying pre-loved. Then, I bought a vintage Chanel hobo in white. That was love at first sight and an impulse buy. I very much regretted it because when it arrived, it was not in excellent condition as I thought. It’s a vintage bag 20 years ago after all. I used it a few times and it was heavy (Chanel hardware was really so much more substantial back then) and ended up selling it in 2 months. I lost 30% what I paid for. Learnt my lesson. The happiness I got when I ditched the handbag is even bigger than the moment I bought it. Buyer’s remorse can be really painful. Thanks to the second experience, I learnt I only like brand new / close to brand new condition. Moreover, I restrict myself that I can only buy a pre-loved handbag if it is on the list that I am willing to pay for a brand new one. No love at first sight purchase on the pre-loved market, because our judgement would easily be clouded by the cheap price. Lastly, at the end of last year, I came across a Loewe compact Hammock I was gonna buy it brand new that week. Almost brand new condition at 50% off. When I got it, it’s even better than expected. I am so happy with such purchase. So far, I am overall happy with my experience overall. What I learnt is: 1) one has to know how old a handbag one can accept. This is very personal; 2) buy only from resellers who are honest with the description; and 3) I should do my homework to assess how much I should pay for. So now whenever I am free, I wander on the pre-loved websites to get an idea of the market price, so I will be a smart buyer next time. Even if I don’t intent to buy anything, i can still have some eye candies and remind myself that, it’s easier to buy then sell. So, we should be intentional with every purchase.

Yes, very good points you make!! I totally agree that it takes research and patience to find the right ones on the preloved market. Love what you shared about your preferences and lessons learned. By the way, when you mentioned a vintage Chanel white hobo with heavy hardware, I got major flashbacks! That sounds like my very first Chanel bag that I bought 20 years ago and I hardly ever used it so I sold it about 5 years ago. Lost money, of course, but it felt good to let go. I’ve always wondered where that bag wound up. I wonder if it was the same bag you purchased and sold??? 😯 What a coincidence that would be!

So happy with the great deals you landed! Chanel is a bit screwed on the pre-loved market now, especially the classic flaps, thanks to the hikes for the past years. Even pre-loved prices are not worth it. I feel like ditching Chanel. I am quite sick of the fact that they mostly sell lambskin for their minis. I am not interested in classic flaps, heavy but not roomy. Also, the craftsmanship is not impressive. I owned one Chanel and that is enough. Dior, Loewe, Celine and YSL are better, in terms of design, craftmanship and cp value. When I want something fancier, I now start exploring Hermes. I just bought a Constance to go as a starter piece just to experience its craftsmanship and what the hype is about all these years. Hope it won’t disappoint me.

So refreshing to see that you like silver hardware. I say that bc I prefer SHW than GHW and I feel I’m usually the odd one out. I like gold but I feel SHW makes the classics more casual and modern. What’s your thoughts? Why do you choose to buy SHW? TFS

I like SHW too! I feel like GHW is more aging. I prefer either SHW or Champaign gold. The only exception is a vintage large CC jumbo I got & gold works on that one.

Exactly what you said. I love silver hardware bc it has a more casual and modern look. It also feels a bit more youthful to me. Gold hardware often looks very formal, especially bright shiny gold hardware paired with black. Also, I have a cool skin tone, so I think silver hardware generally looks more flattering on me. 😊

Thank you for this video! Seeking your advice about a future Chanel purchase: Would you recommend the rectangular mini flap or the WOC?

Glad you enjoyed the video! If you want more interior capacity and a more “classic flap” look, go for the mini rectangle. If you want a slimmer silhouette that sits tight to the body, but with smaller interior capacity (but lots of compartments), go for the WOC. The WOC can be more versatile bc the chain can tuck into the bag or double and triple up around the WOC (which I’ve shown in many older videos) to give it several different wears of carrying it. Keep in mind, the WOC chain length is pretty long unless you’re tall. The mini rectangle chain is a bit shorter. Hope this helps.

Is the second bag a medium classic flap? You didn’t mention the size. I thought all classic flaps come with flap CC. Is the other version rounded?

It’s the medium size. 8 full diamond quilts across is how you can tell. Small size has only 7 full diamond quilts across. And no, all classic flaps do not come with the flat cc. They started doing rounded cc hardware years ago. If you go on to the Chanel website and zoom in on the classic flaps, you’ll see they all have the rounded cc. Hope this helps.

Hi Hannah- I have bought and sold about 4 Celine Classics for various reasons, but largely because they are so heavy. Do you find yourself using yours less due to weight? I know that’s a big deal to you.

Yes, I understand what you mean. I mentioned in an older video that the Celine Classic box bag is on the heavier side. I only wear it over coats and sweater, bc I need some cushion on my shoulder. I don’t wear it over a bare shoulder. That does stop me from carrying it in the summer, for sure.
