Pagebluk comes from the Javanese language which means disease outbreak, this song by Alip seems to be related to the Covid 19 pandemic which is still not over, hopefully this plague will soon disappear from our earth and live normally again, thank you Mace, I really like your reaction, this is Alip's new self- composed song

“ PAGEBLUK “adalah kata bahasa Jawa di Indonesia berarti wabah penyakit yang menimbulkan kematian menakutkan setiap warga masyarakat. Wabah ini diyakini masyarakat Jawa sebagai pertanda peringatan agar warga masyarakat eling/ingat akan Penciptanya. Hidup dijalan yang benar. Alip ba ta mengekspresikan melalui lantunan petikan dalam setiap nada gitarnya yang terasa sangat spiritualis.

Very amazing reaction, without knowing the meaning of Pagebluk, but you can feel the meaning of Pagebluk that express by Mr Alip Ba Ta through his strings vibes. Yes, Pagebluk meaning something like Pandemic feeling and situation, the feeling of sad and sorrow, mix feeling of pain and sadness and loneliness feeling. Nobody knows when pandemic will be ending... Very good feeling reaction Sir, since you already listening to Alip Ba Ta music for long2 time ago. 💕

"Pagebluk" is not a word of Indonesian language - but instead it's a word of Javanese language which is one of many Indonesian Ethnic Languages we have across the nation. If translated in English it means an "outbreak" of deathly disease or "pandemic" which is the familiar word we frequently find it while reading and watching news in TV & social media. Pertaining to the title of the song - of course it's not a happy song - but it's a very sad and melancholic one. Alip Ba Ta rendition on this one is flawless as usual. He always does on his whole clips we have seen so far.

If you examine the word "PAGEBLUK" it seems that this typing is a bit long. 😅 CMIIW the word "PAGEBLUK" is only used in Javanese society in Indonesia, if you look for it in the Indonesian National language you will find it difficult to find the exact answer, because Javanese is one of thousands of regional languages in Indonesia, whose meaning and pronunciation are very different from the Indonesian language. Indonesian National. "PAGEBLUK" comes from the word "geblug" or "bluk" which in both Sundanese and Javanese culture, is defined as; fall, tople or collapsed. That is, pagebluk is a phenomenon that causes large numbers of victims on a wide scale. Therefore, the term geblug itself has a similar meaning to explosion. When the medical world responds to an outbreak that occurs as a pandemic, pagebluk sees it using a mythological perspective or myth. This mythological point of view rests on the teachings, orders or prohibitions of the ancestors who try to predict future events. There are also those who see pagebluk as a cosmological phenomenon. This point of view sees a phenomenon as an event that occurs within the scope of the universe and runs according to the path that has been set by the creator. Because it is continuous with other elements, cosmologists see an event as a warning so that humans try to realign the balance that exists in the universe, starting from the personal self, social community to interaction with God. As an event that is closely related to culture, especially in Javanese tradition, "PAGEBLUK" has a ceremony that aims to commemorate (keep away) in order to avoid a greater danger. For example, in Javanese culture, there is a famous myth that says that "sayur lodeh (vegetable soup with coconut milk)" which is made using 7 certain ingredients can ward off pagebluk, and this is a spiritual teacher's teaching to his students so that students can deepen their symbolic meaning. by a wise and knowledgeable teacher. These materials are not chosen without reason, but symbolize certain meanings that need to be interpreted implicitly. These materials are: 1. "Artocarpus camansi" which is referred to in Javanese as, "Kluwih" (keluarga luwihono anggone gulowentah gatekne) which means to pay more attention to and care for the family. 2. "Vigna unguiculata sesquipedalis" which is referred to in Javanese as, "Cang gleyor" (cancangen awakmu ojo lungo-lungo), which means advice not to leave the house (travel) if it is not useful. 3. "Solanum melongena" which is referred to in Javanese as, "Terong" (terusno anggone olehe manembah gusti ojo dhatnyeng), which is an appeal to continue worship to the almighty God and not only when there is a will. 4. "Gnetum gnemon" which is referred to in Javanese as, "Kulit melinjo" (ojo mung ngerti njobone, ning kudu ngerti jerone babakan pagebluk), which means we have to address a pagebluk in depth, not only from the outside. 5. "Cucurbita" which is referred to in Javanese as, "Waluh" (walono ilangno ngeluh ngersulo), which means we as humans must avoid complaining 6. "Gnetum gnemon leaves" which is referred to in Javanese as, "Godong so" (golong gilig donga kumpul wong sholeh sugih kaweruh) or melinjo leaves, which means that we as servants of God must often gather with people who are smart and pious. 7. "Tempe" (temenono olehe dedepe nyuwun pitulungane gusti Allah), which means we have to believe that God will not leave his servant and will give help. Even though it sounds very strange and unreasonable, if viewed from medical science, some of the meanings that are trying to convey are proven to be one way to avoid a pandemic, such as eating healthy food and rarely leaving the house unless it is important, and always having faith, enthusiasm and hope. to find a strong problem solution. Therefore, we in Indonesia as a cultured nation, we really respect the lessons from our ancestors and are proud of the culture we have.

Music is indeed a universal language. The free-style you did there in essence reflects the philosophical nuance of the word: acceptance (of the occurred phenomenon) as the course of life and carry on with optimism. Beautiful one you did up there! In line with what @sonic collection tried to explain, Pagebluk is a Javanese word that can literally be translated as plaque or pestilence. However, the translation does not really convey the nuance of what the word means in Javanese, as well as to Javanese. I see this as Alip's contemplative piece. A reflective lens on how he as a Javanese sees and feels about the pandemic that we are all experiencing. (At least that's how I interpret the piece.) Javanese, and Indonesians in general regardless of ethnicity, are a deeply spiritual society. Javanese life philosophy centered on attaining harmony and balance in life. Human, as an individual and as a society, is a microcosm of the larger macrocosm (universe). This concept is known as 'Jagad Ageng, Jagad Alit' for Javanese, or 'Bhuana Agung, Bhuana Alit' for Balinese. Micro- and macrocosm are inherently interrelated. Disruption or imbalance at a microcosm level will be reflected or causing disruption on the larger macrocosm, and vice versa. As such, in the case of this pandemic for example, beyond just seeing this as a natural course, most Javanese will take this as a contemplative event. A universe reminder that disharmony or imbalance has occurred, that we played a part in creating such disharmony, and it is also our responsibility (to self and humanity) to do our part in restoring harmony and balance. As such, as you may also notice, aside from sorrow the piece also carries an acceptance and calming wishful tone; a reflection of the Javanese philosophical lens in carrying on or how we should carry on in such an event. The word 'Pagebluk' came about in the early 19th century when a cholera outbreak hit Java island and became an epidemic. In the absence of advanced knowledge of the phenomenon at that time, to a certain extent, it became an unexplainable situation that drove society to reflect inwards. Since then, beyond referring to a disease-related calamity, Javanese also use the word for an unexplainable widespread of grave events.
