Best story teller ever, huge fan, I also happen to be obsessed with this story and have watched several movies about it and read some articles. some facts missed 1. The motivation for the hijack was not money but rather they wanted 40 Palestinian militants jailed in Israel to be released in exchange for the hostages 2. 3 hostages died out of 106, and the woman in hospital later died. 3. Idi Amin ordered retaliation against Kenyans in Uganda and over 200 Kenyans in Uganda were killed. What a story men..

1. Idi Amin's trusted general was his cousin from the Kakwa tribe, Isaac Maliyamungu 2. The Israeli commando unit is called Sayaret Matkal (Bibi Netanyahu served in it too) 3. The Israeli generals who had connections with Idi Amin might include Gen. Moshe Dayan (Defence Minister then), Muki Betzer (trained some Ugandan military personnel), and Golda Meir (the PM whom Amin knew personally). Good story Mkurugenzi!

Good story, the whole mission took 53 minutes, Point of Correction, Kenyatta was reluctant to allow the Israelis, however, government operatives worked and later informed Kenyatta after the successful mission. Yonna Natanyau died on the operating table and Nairobi Hospital. He was not shot while opening the door, he was shot by a snipper from the tower. Benjamin Natanyau was to be in the operation, however, the rule in Israel is siblings cant go to the same operation.

I read about this in Rise and Kill First the book written by the only journalist with access to classified Israeli intelligence & military records. Ironic thing is Idi Amin took over Uganda with the help of the Mossad but changed loyalties when Gaddafi offered to pay him more. Points of correction: (si utiaji ni kusoma mingi) 1. All the hostages weren't Israeli. Ilikua 83 Israelis, 8 non-Jewish Israelis & 12 Air France crew that chose to stay with the hostages after they were told they were free to go. 2. The hijackers weren't all Palestinian. The first 4: 2 were from the PFLP & 2 were German leftists. The general motivation of the hijacking was anti-imperialism & not religion-based. 3. Their ransom demand was a prisoner swap not money. They wanted Israel to release 53 guys they had in custody including one Archbishop Hilarion Capucci.

@abelmutua You are a great story teller. I 1st heard this story in Israel when on holiday with some Kenyans and we were treated like royalty, it was overwhelming. At one hotel they had a Kenyan and Israeli flag together which made me ask the receptionist what was going on and hence the story unfolded and I later watched the movie.I have never been prouder to be a Kenyan and the Israelites have never forgotten till today.

Historical fact: Iddi Amin had Kenya beat military might wise. It’s on record he called on the U. S. to do a flyover of their F16s during a public holiday we had, which was what stayed Iddi’s hand as he imagined we were given that much fire power.
