Good to know about the galvanised shelving being the hardiest. I know what I’m saving up for now because hubby won’t let me use the one in the garage. 🤣 I also thought about buying that K-Mart shelving last year but it said indoor only so I didn’t bother. I had some of those DIY black plant display stands which look good for a couple of years, but they completely disintegrated on me. I never realised you can treat them to save them. Really helpful to know, thank you Liz. Always appreciate your knowledge.

The galvanized ones from bunnings I recon is the only way to go. I will eventually replaced those black rusty, useless ones. Good luck with your set-up Susan and have fun doing the configurations. Thanks for watching. 🥰

That Ikea shelf, is it named HYLLIS by any chance? If so, they come with kind of a tent around them as well. You can buy the "tent clothing" separately for that shelf. Not sure it will do you any good, but that "clothing" could help protect plants in some wheaters. Not act as a real grow house and protect from real winter cold though.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizKАй бұрын
Sure is. Didn't know they come with covering. 🤔Thanks very much, Susan. Have a great day!🥰

I have the silver chrome ones too in my house for my shelving succulents INDOORS set up. They work great for me! But yes not good for outdoors with the rain and then rusting problem. I don’t blame you for not liking the look of that. 😝
@GrowingSucculentswithLizKАй бұрын
They're ideal for indoor use. Just didn't have the space for it when I bought it. Might have to treat it and put it somewhere protected. Thanks so much for watching and have a lovely evening.🥰

Thankyou, this has been helpful feedback as I’ve always noticed your shelves and wondered which you prefer. Galvanised is definitely best for outdoors longevity and watering. Are your fave ones Bunnings ones, is that right? I wondered how they went with drainage from under your pots or water pooling compared to the ones with grid shelves. And the heat of the galv ones in summer? I suppose it’s just weighing up the pros and cons of what we have.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizKАй бұрын
Yes, they're from bunnings. And in my humble opinion....no cons. Just all pros.😉 Might be hard to see but there are gaps (airflow) between shelves and planter.😉 Might have to do another video regarding that. 😂 Thanks for watching, Chris.🥰

@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK Oooww, yes please that would be great if you can. I think these might be in my wish list now ☀️🐞🍄

Love your videos 💚💚💚 Do you ever get powdery mildew fungus on the bottom shelves from lack of air circulation, especially when the shelves don’t have gaps? That’s my worry. I did buy 3 shelves from IKEA and now have shade cloth 50 percent ready for summer. 2 summers with no shade cloth but now I have too many expensive ones 😂😂😂
@GrowingSucculentswithLizKАй бұрын
All the galvanize shelves even in the bottom doesn't get powdery mildew. Only the rusting shelves seems to get them. The closer it is to the fence, the more powdery mildew is present. Quite curious.🤔
