The Holmes Cay Grand Arome, to me, is straight up green olives on the nose and tastes just like it smells, imo. Just a teaspoon in a classic Mai Tai is mind blowing.

I have another reunion Agricole savanna lontan 57 and I love it in my Mai Thais. It also shares the strong olive note. I may have to try to source to Holmes Cray Grand Arome to see how they compare.

I have yet to try it in a Mai Tai but I've had a few recommendations now on doing that, so I know what I'm doing this weekend
@thomaskmfdm6 ай бұрын
@@therumrevival My recommendation is to make it max 1/4th of your blend. My personal blend at the moment is half Oz Hampden overproof, half Oz the high ester Agricole. Half Oz Appleton 12 and a half Oz oftd combined with j.m. Schrubb as the orange liqueur. Credits go to make and drink for the orange liqueur selection and the blend is also loosely inspired by the blend from the ultimate Mai Thai site also referenced by make and drink.

I have bought both Rivers Granada and Holmes Cay Arome recently and your descriptions of both could not be better! Rivers is easy to love, but I can’t say the same of Holmes. I love wild, bold, pungent r(h)ums, but Holmes was seriously challenging. Then I added a quarter ounce of it to a Shrunken Skull along side an ounce each of Mt. Gay Eclipse Navy Strength and Hamilton Demerara 86 and I’m now an avid fan of Holmes Cay Arome. Cheers from one Bay Area r(h)um lover to another 🍻

this is one of my favorite videos of yours, and i would love to see a continuation of this series. my first dive into rum agricole will likely be kōhana heirloom kea, per your suggestion and others’, but these three will definitely be on my radar to try soon, as my palate is maturing to truly appreciate more wild and out-there flavors. great video as always, Arminder.

Semi-new to your channel and I've been loving your erudite and amusing reviews. I've found that the Holmes Cay makes an an absolutely dazzling Rum Scaffa. I use 1 oz of the Holmes Cay, fat 1/2 oz of Benedictine and one dash Angostura. In the same overproof white funk bomb vein, Rum Fire absolutely kills in a 50/50 shot with Cynar; a more profound version of the Wraynar 50/50 with Wray and Nephew.

That scaffa sounds delicious. Can't wait to make it, thanks! And agreed on the RF/Cynar shot. Funny because I'm actually working on a 50/50 video and that one was on my shortlist to feature.

We did a tasteing of big bold unaged rums a week or so ago in another group. The stand out was the Paranubes Cana Moroda.
