We were laughing at the misconceptions that you had about the town, starting with "We all know what that is about" for the building with 420 on it. That has nothing to do with marijuana although it is legal here. It is merely the address, 420 Broadway of a coffee shop gathering spot. Then when you started talking about the fake signs and buildings like they were real! However, the fact that you have immortalized the changes in the town as Eddington on your video is priceless! It was so much fun to watch! Almost nothing is left of Eddington. It was great when the filming was going on here (maybe not for some of the businesses but for the town as a whole.) and great to see what it was like during that time thanks to you. It was nice to see things though a totally naive and fresh eye. P.S. The small post office you visited closes at noon, but the main newer post office is on Date St and is open regular hours. It is likely that at one time there was a fallout shelter in the post office you visited.

It’s funny, because I’ve visited T or C a few times before so it took me quite a while to realize what was real and what was fake - as you can see on the video. Haha. I initially thought names of business were changed in a small part of downtown, but came to realize Eddington had taken over MOST of the Main Street. Very interesting and unique, and I’m soooo excited to see the movie when it comes out. I planned to do a full city walkthrough minus the Eddington stuff, but it did seem like a unique opportunity to capture what was happening at the time. I will, however, have a proper video about T or C sometime in the future. Thank you sooo much for watching, and I hope I didn’t frustrate you too much with my novice takes on the town. 🤗❤️

Thanks for featuring our sweet little desert oasis! This quirky place got a little weirder when the movie came to town for sure. One of the funniest business takeovers was our super cool little venue (music, drinks), Love Shack, was turned into the Christ Center. You can sip some Sangria and give snaps to the music guest! Lastly, thanks for giving some love to our Skoolie, Old Bess, who was "starring" in Eddington. We're very proud of her for starting her film career so late in life 😊. Come back and see us and bring some friends!

Hi, your video here came up on my feed because I like history/traveler/sightseeing of American towns and I was quite impressed with your presentation in your video and so I subscribed and now I am adding you to my favorite sightseeing KZbinrs (such as Sightseeing Sally, Travel with a Wise Guy and Sidetrack Adventures.) It sounds like you are a local as you mentioned Truth or Consequences in the way we call it T or C. I moved to Las Cruces in '21 and have been to TRC at least once a year to visit River Bend Spa - LOVE that place, you can use the spa pools for only $15 an hour! Very cheap adventure if you ask me. Looking forward to seeing your videos and I'll be going to your page and starting from your oldest watching your videos and commenting and liking. I don't watch regular TV so these are now my TV shows. The only thing I would ask you to change is if you are going to use European measurements, like Celsius, please also say the American measurement like Fahrenheit. I have no idea what 34 degrees is, and had to google it.
@ObscuristTouristАй бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate the kind words. I’m actually not a local. I live in Toronto in Canada. Couldn’t be less of a local - hence why I use Celsius. Haha. I will take your suggestion to heart and post the Fahrenheit exchange whenever I mention Celsius from now on. Truth be told; I have never understood how to translate C to F on the spot. 🤗
@justnerdystuffАй бұрын
@@ObscuristTourist I had a feeling you were Canadian when you said a word with ou, like out because Canadians out and about sounds like oot and about. Plus you were naturally using Celsius. They are really trying to make us Americans change to that and they even do it in hospitals when weighing you. So because I unfortunately visit the hospital so often, I now know that if you times the metric number by 2.2 you get pounds, because the nurses are always too busy to tell me what it is in pounds.

I'm so happy for TRC, they will have another big tourist boost after this movie comes out. Hopefully it will make it big and draw a lot of people to visit TRC and of course Las Cruces the 2nd largest city in New Mexico is only 1 1/2 hours south with a ton of touristy, artistic, foodie stuff going on here. With Hatch, the chili capital of the world for Hatch Chilis in between TRC and Las Cruces -
@ObscuristTouristАй бұрын
I’ve been to Hatch a ton of times, but never fully explored Las Cruces. I always pass through LC whenever I’m driving to or back from White Sands. I can’t wait to see Eddington, and really hope it does bring more tourists out to T or C. 😎

@@ObscuristTourist There is a REALLY OLD town next to Las Cruces and it's called Mesilla. It's older than New Mexico and was a Mexican town. There is an exit for it off of I-10. You should check it out.

You missed the best parts of our town by limiting yourself to 2 streets. We have so many fantastic places to share. A healing arts center, 5 dispensaries, a bowling alley, a glamp camp, a town full of healers and artists. The Rio Grande runs right through our town and offers floating in the summer. The Healing Waters Trail offers hiking with an incredible view of the town. A walk through of Ralph Edward's Park when mentioning Fiesta would have been beautiful since it was the main host of the party for so many years. This video didn't even know the difference between real businesses, closed businesses and movie sets. You showed our beautiful mountain from behind trees. If you want to feature our town please come back and let a local give you a proper tour first. We have so much to offer.

I’ve been to T or C a few times in the past, so I was a little confused upon this visit with the movie in town. I recognized some stuff as being from the movie, but not others. Regardless, there is another, longer and more immersive video of T or C in the works. That was an agave or century plant. Not an aloe. The same kind of plant you make tequila from. Also, we don't have any bars or saloons downtown. We have Raymonds bar, Los Arcos, and the golf course at Turtleback Mountain Resort. Most of what you saw was for the movie set. Most places downtown is art galleries and chochki stores. TorC Brewery is great. They have an AMAZING Cosmic Blonde. TorC is known as the Santa Fe of Southern NM. I watched the video, and i mean no offense but If you're a tourist and filming these places, why aren't you learning more about them to educate your subscribers prior to filming so that you can educate people about these destinations? Literally you could have taken 10 minutes to talk to any local and learned about the town prior to filming this. 😂
