In the 1980s games packaging was in its infancy, but small publishers were able to do some amazing work with limited resources.
When you went to a store to buy a physical copy of a game all you had to go on were magazine reviews and what the cover looked like. Given the restrictions of 8-bit hardware it was difficult to give an artistic interpretation of the game in artwork, but some managed to do a great job!
Respect to all the artists who did their best in a new, fast changing market.
