She married my stepdad who is African American. So growing up I ate a lotttt of soul food. My boyfriend is also African American and I’m so glad I grew up learning how to cook soul food, my mom learned being with him for over 20 years so I learned from her also. Watching this made me cringe lol but as long as you’re learning babygirl! It’s all about love, care, and seasoning in your food! Lots of patience too it takes time to learn how to cook. Greetings! I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I truly am enjoying your videos. I'm giving "Rice" an A for effort. Here's an old school tip, use a brown paper bag, add two cups of plain white flour. After washing chicken sprinkle each piece with Lawry's Season All Salt. Put chicken in the bag and give a good shake. Heat vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet or your favorite frying pan, using enough oil to almost cover the chicken, make sure the oil is hot then add chicken. The key is to turn the chicken over several times for an even fry. Listen to the sound the oil makes, the oil will be roaring when you first begin and when your chicken is done the oil will quiet down. Also prick chicken with a fork to make sure it's fully cooked to the bone. Spend some time in the kitchen with your boyfriend's Mother to improve your technique but I really applaud your efforts. Let's turn the cards and have your boyfriend prepare your favorite dishes. May GOD continue to bless and keep you both! Fondly Dana Dane from Washington, D.C.
