@@speakingtruths4215 blah blah everyone says something is easier said than done, but it is not. She has a CHOICE one that I and everyone else can see will not end great for her and another choice that will eliminate the guaranteed future headache and she can get back out there and choose a better future spouse. What you don't seem to get is in life we will all make mistakes but the point is to learn from them. He didn't learn he just shirked the responsibilities to his mom, instead of him sitting down getting real with the bills and situation and get himself out of what he got himself into by doing the exact same thing he is now, not holding himself accountable or being the responsible adult he should be. Additionally, maybe you didn't know that the leading cause of divorce is money, and it may very well be the reason why his previous marriage ended. From your response you are likely in this same situation, and guess what I have the same advice I have for you as I have for her, RUN.

I agree with you guys. My husband, now ex, chose to remain a child in his mothers house and not a man in his own. I insisted we have a joint account, he only agreed if I compromised and had it at his bank, He brought me the documents to sign. I later learned I was never owner on the account with my husband even though my name was on the checks. HIS mother was his joint account holder. Once I figured that out, I opened my own account elsewhere. BTW, they gave us an allowance as if we were children, from our own money! We never owned anything together as a couple when it came to property. SHE NEEDS TO WALK AWAY! AND NOT LOOK BACK!

Co-dependency is the new form of relationship these days and this need to change as it has completely damaged our society. Everyone needs to be single independent on their own for awhile before entering a healthy relationship. There needs to be an equal amount of give and take in all relationships including work, love and family or it will always be imbalanced. Takers attracts givers and givers attract takers. I really wish the school system would teach this stuff to kids early on but the system itself is broken internally.

The problem is that the school do not teach essential life skill anymore. There focused is on test score or preparing students to go to college. Morden college students can do the daily essential no more such as Cooking Writing a check Money management skill Do laundry Learn how to be independent

Not necessarily a school's responsibility! Home life examples from parents are more appropriate teachers. Sadly many come from broken or dysfunctional homes that did not convey what a healthy relationship should be. Fortunately, Tiffany has good instincts to recognize a problem that clearly exists BEFORE the marriage. The risk is a soon to be "wedding dream" she has already invested in would overshadow her common sense of the longer-term marriage struggles that are ahead with MIL.
@jamescadzow9545
@jamescadzow9545 4 жыл бұрын
@@carlaritchie331 I agree it's totally not all the schools responsibility, it should taught first at home. Yet the schools need to warn the kids of co-dependency and toxic relationships to recognize the patterns and the RED FLAGS. The dysfunctional parent won't bring it up since they think it is normal, since they have the emotional intelligence of a broken child raising broken children. Humanities most toxic humans are in their own home, and not just roaming the streets and sitting in a cargo van after school looking for their lost dog Spot. Knowledge is Power..

@@didibebedidi Who knows. My BIL divorced 3 mos ago and I spent 3 weeks teaching him Dave's baby steps, after he and his ex ran up 100K in debt that he no clue about until she ran off. He didn't even know what he made per week. I gave him the tools and now he is managing it himself

I feel so bad for Tiffany and I say this with love, and also as a women who has dated the wrong man, knew it but was too scared/nervous/whatever to leave. RUN. I highly doubt the financial thing is the only way his mother's presence in his life has manifested and it's not going to get better if you get married. She will be calling the shots in your home, with your kids, etc. RUN.

I think we need more information here... How wealthy is this guy? Is the female a suspected gold-digger? How wealthy is mom? Is mom sending him money to help with bills? You can be 37 and be a borderline idiot financially. Regardless, he does need his own accounts, and if he's wealthy he needs to be careful about marrying a girl who's so concerned about his money.

Problem is he needs to fix himself otherwise he’s just trading in his controlling “mudder” for a controlling wife.

I hope she considers extending her engagement because this needs to be resolved before they get married. They may lose money by postponing the wedding but a divorce will be far more costly. He needs to show he is capable of managing his own money and setting boundaries with mommy.

I am kind of going through a similar situation with my boyfriend. Him and his mom share a checking account and my boyfriend deposits his checks into that joint account. His mom knows everything he purchases, reads his mail, etc. He helps support her because she can no longer work. I care about my boyfriend and try to stay out of it as much as possible because it is sort of not my business, but at the same time, if he were to ever ask me to marry him, a lot of things would have to change first as it relates to finances. Sometimes I don't know what to do because I feel conflicted about it. He's a great guy but his mom feels too involved in his finances. :/

If she can no longer work she is probably getting government assitance of some sort. He can assist from a far. He doesn’t need to share an account and girl, just don’t do it. She will forever be mooching off not just her son but YOU once you marry him. Since it will be both of your money. Cut your loses and keep it moving.

I say to move on because you shouldn’t wait for him to hopefully change one day. If he is set in his ways it won’t work and if he sees you as trying to wedge your way into him and his moms “business”, then he will choose her over you.

I honestly think this might be something that can be fixed. I had a friend recently marry a guy whose mother was too involved and she simply had a sit down with her and the mom started to back off. They are happily married now.
