I don’t get his lack of conviction in the Sabres, personally I think they’re within the same echelon as Detroit and Ottawa, with them beating out Detroit and competing with Ottawa. The whole “didn’t repair the lost depth” point isn’t true cuz they only lost Hinostroza (regular healthy scratch) and Anderson (retired) and the depth was immediately reinforced with Levi, Kulich, Rousek, Benson/Savoie possibly, and even solid defensive depth on the right. Not to mention their main playoff motivators too: they have the record for the longest playoff drought with 12 years, they missed last years postseason by 1 point, they recently lost Rick Jeanerette, and Vegas/Eichel just won the cup which was Tuch+Krebs’s previous team. No shot they finish 7th and tank that hard in production that’s an insane take

Only one rookie goalie has won 30 games in the last 10 years and that was Matt Murray for the Stanley Cup winning Penguins. The Sabres are not Cup contenders and Devon Levi (or any of their other netminders) is not carrying the team to the playoffs.
@linkolinguino Жыл бұрын
@@robertgagnon2660 a hockey team is more than just a starting goaltender. If teams with depth up front and defensive reliability can win cups with rookie goalies like Matt Murray and Jordan Binnington, or with career backups that get hot like Aiden Hill and Anton Khudobin, then obviously the goaltending is just a portion of the team’s consistency and overall motor. The sabres had the best offense in the league for a majority of last season and finished 3rd, as well as addressed defensive holes in their lineup along with veteran presence and grit. Levi was fantastic in a small sample size last season sure, but the team he has in front of him is not only stronger as a whole but a year further into their development. It’s not all on Levi’s shoulders, they’re a team after all not just 1 rookie starting goalie

My hopes for the year are several of our prospects showing good progression along with guys like Duclair, Hoffman, etc looking good so we can maximize the return when we flip them at (or a bit before) the TDL. Zadina's debatable if we'd try to flip him if he looks good (young enough that he could fit the timeline). And of course, winning the lottery, the Devils making the ECF, and then either the Pens finishing with the 11th pick in the draft or the Pens finishing with a top 10 pick this year followed by an even better pick next year.

As a Devils fan I see the Sabres eventually becoming tough competition for them in the upcoming years they have a lot of similarities. Wouldn’t even be surprised if Bruins or Panthers don’t make it but I think Buffalo will make it over one of them and they’ll definitely finish ahead of Detroit and Ottawa. Agree with you on Levi I think he’s for real but certainly we need another year from him as we’ve seen this movie with goalies catching fire their rookie year and fading out the next year. I like your Stanley cup finals matchup prediction except for the result lol! I don’t mind the Stars but against the Devils I obviously have to hate them. I still think the Devils are another year away from the Cup Finals I think they’ll either get knocked out again by Carolina or be so worn down after a series win against them that they may run out of steam against a team like Tampa or Toronto (although I just can’t picture the Leafs ever making the cup lol) 😂

talking about how the avs depth is lacking is literally crazy to us avs fans. From training camp and the start of preseason, all the lines have been great. Obviously top line has mack and rants so it cant be bad, if drouin makes it he has some insane playmaking skills to compliment mack and rants shots. second line with johanson, nuke, and lehky is going to be absolutely brutal to play against, a third line of colton, wood, and whoever else should be really hard to play against as well with all that speed (although its missing one solid player and might be the weakest line on the team). and the fourth line of cogs, oconnor, and meyers is going to be annoying as hell to play against, all of those guys just dont stop. then when it comes to defense the only other team that I think has anything close or even ahead of the avs is the canes. Makar and toews is the best pairing in the NHL. byram and manson compliment eachother really well and byram is poised to have a breakout season if he manages to not get hit in the head again (*cough* kolesar *cough*). and having sam girard on a bottom pairing is honestly just insane when he could be first pairing or for sure middle pairing on 90% of the teams in the nhl. Jack johnson is the one weak spot on D, but even then people like sam malinski or jeremy hanzel has looked really impressive in the rookie tournaments and preseason and could take his place. obviously im biased as an avs fan, but in no way do i see this team as top heavy and lacking depth. even when i try to look at it as objectively as possible.

@@Joe_Ma99 youre severely overrating newhook and his contributions. I agree e-rod was actually a big loss though. Also compher was put in a position that he couldnt handle and it was extremely evident. also we didnt play with landy last yeah anyway so that doesnt matter. @@MrMooMoo088 yes but if they want to make a big run they need a legitimate #1 goalie. They lost Graves and severson. So expect more GA. It seems to me they trying to mimic VGK with alot of power up front but I think they are to high on Hughes. That's alot of pressure for a rookie. Even if I want to compare as well to COL. They were stacked when they won the cup. Looks like NJ time is now and remember Darcy Kumper is a good starting goalie but look at how he is going in WSH. Goalies are hard to figure out but Hellebuck and Gibson are no doubt #1 goalies. Nj I would say have mediocre starters or good fringe stater goalies...meaning they will contuie to scratch their head in the playoffs. Schmidt had an outstanding series against a very cold NYR team. They got blown out by CAR so I feel like Upgrading their goalie is really the last missing piece. If I'm not wrong VGK was also playing with their goalies but their defense is state of the art. Devils had that last year and just not sure how much Hughes can replace severson and or Graves. A couple games he did good. But a full 82 game season is a toattly different story. They even lost Tatar who had a +40 season. In conclusion the devils are really putting their chips in one basket instead of spreading around the wealth. They do well on cap space and contracts but it seems like their relying heavily on their top guys and not really focusing on depth or defense or goalies... remember VGK got out to get quick. They had 4 of these fringe starters and I would say got lucky hill had a good performance.

If the Oilers have addressed their defensive issues. Serious contender Gotta love the potential of the Kraken Naturally i expect the Knights and Avs to do very well. As for the east. Once again i expect the Leafs to lay an egg once they hit the post season. The aging Bruins ? do they have one more year in them and will they do anything when it counts? Tampa will stay good. are the cats a one off? i live in the west so i am far more familiar with the western teams. Too many things can happen. Players get hurt. ya da, ya da.

great take but i personally think you have boston and tampa to high should of been toronto,florida ottawa, tampa than boston that goalie tandem was a one year dup could possibly just be that rookie luck man. but we will see go sens go :) !!!

Sens will make playoffs I hope not sure we end up that far above the Sabres or above them at all and Red Wings above the Sabres is wild to me Sabres goaltending is a question mark but so is the Wings so ikd what the Wings sre better at than the Sabres

You have ottawa and detroit over the sabres? Well thats the dumbest take ive seen in a while
@eliaminator2313 Жыл бұрын
I agree idk why he's so low on the Sabres they are definitely ahead of the Red Wings and if goaltending does well ahead of the Sens
@michaelandrew8493 Жыл бұрын
@eliaminator2313 i dont get it. Like maybe ottawa is ahead of us but thats a big maybe. I still think its gonna be ottawa and buffalo as the heads of the division soon.
@eliaminator2313 Жыл бұрын
@michaelandrew8493 ya for sure Detroit is a step behind both teams imo between Ottawa and Buffalo idk this year I think both teams do well and hope they both make the playoffs not sure which team has the better season though could make an argument for either imo
@hoopskillerproductions2921 Жыл бұрын
@@eliaminator2313Sabres have an elite offense with the likes of Krebs Tuch Thompson Skinner Cozens. I personally have Sabres's offense is better than Ottawa but Ottawa have a very strong and solid young defense and better goalies. Levi and UPL for the Sabres's tandem
@michaelandrew8493 Жыл бұрын
@eliaminator2313 i think in a couple years ottawa and the sabres are gonna be the new leaders of the division. I think tampa is gonna go downhill same with the penguins and Toronto. Its the Sabres and ottawas time. Maybe detriot too but they will still be behind

Keep sleeping on the Sabres. I don’t understand the disrespect toward a team that was one point out last year and got way better defensively. They can be legit top 3 in the division this year. I get other teams got better but the Sabres have the goal scoring to make it and if Levi plays good, they are in no doubt.

I’m going to be dead wrong. But I got Boston missing for Buffalo AND I don’t trust the Ottawa hype. Pitt as a WC team and WSH narrowly missing. CAR,TOR,NJ are in a 3 horse race for tops. TOR,TB, FLA, BUF CAR,NJ,NYR,PIT

I am a sars fan and I do not think they will do as well as last season because they had some above average starts then those players faded later season.I expct benn to fade back to the poor previous seasons he had and Pavelski looked tired later season so I think he will begin to show his age. I feel the Hawks are goin g to rise quickly pretty much as soon as Korchinski is able to bolster the defense and a couple th young forwards get anotehr eyar under the belt.I am not certain how th Hakes finish this year but I predict the playofs next year.

100 points for Boston? Sabres at 89?? Watch out for the Sabres, they will be a playoff team. Devils vs Oilers, devils in 6
@aksis2133 Жыл бұрын
As a Leafs fan? Bruins v Lightning would be so much fucking fun. Like dear god yes take the two biggest asshole teams in the league and pit them against each other. Put the best goalie against the best tandem. That series would be phenomenal.

If that playoff series happens, sadly as a Sens fan we maybe win 1 game in the playoffs and lose at home in 5. Not sure if DJ smith can even make the playoffs, and it would be tough for DJ and this team in the first round.

I think habs with more points like 70-80 points and be 7 in atlantic. They change there medical staff. I would be surprised They finish first in man-games lost a third year in row. Probably one team will fall from grace.
