The best part of this DLC is the last mission ends with our little freak club supposedly stealing 80% of the world's stockpile of chemicals yet when it's all over we still have to resupply our acid lab. That makes absolutely no sense.

Damn, TGG wasn't lying when he said he was going to be brutally honest... He hit us with that "GTA 6 can't come soon enough". Yeah these missions/the story kinda felt like that ULP summer update from last year: the missions were fun but not that replayable. I really wish the drug wars would've involved like fighting over territories on the map kinda like in SA and you'd have to make alliances and stuff like that. I think that wouldve been better than becoming fresh meat to some juggalos even though your character is a murderous multi-millionaire kingpin already. But idk, I just hope GTA 6 is super dank.

Yeah it was pretty easy until a chopper blew up on my truck and destroyed it lol. The missions were pretty fun though... it just needed a proper finale. Also, I got 100k every mission and 100k at the end (same with First Dose). I thought it was 50k each and 250k at the end lol.

I don't know if i am alone in this but i feel like if they dropped the whole dlc all at once it would have been a pretty good dlc. I like how there is generally more to do in the world and GTA Online feels more friendly to new players. The world also feels more lived in and i love that you can work as a taxi driver and i feel like everything they add doesn't need to be something that is the greatest way to make money or something that you need to grind for to enjoy.

There are so many things they could have done 1. Give players the opportunity to own the TaxiCo & have an underground warehouse (as this is an easy reskin lol) 2. Give players the ability to HIRE STREET dealers to sell MC products (similar to using auto shop staff to sell customer cars) 3. Give players who purchased the taxi co the ability to hire NPCs OR new players needing money as a passive source of income for the taxico owner 4. Create a 3rd leader type outside CEO and MC. FS Leader (freakshop leader) and have the stash houses used as acid warehouses that can be stored, sourced and sold. (Which would keep Dax relevant to the player base)

Also with the Freakshop they could have added some mini heists similar to the Auto Shop with a higher payout if they did all of these things then yes this DLC would be a massive DLC actually it would be a huge DLC. Here is something that kinda bugs me. Luchadora, a new character, is given a lot of focus. She is unique, and Dax introduced her saying she is "In charge of our wrestling" what wrestling? I was hoping this was going to lead to an underground fight pit. You could make money fist fighting or place bets.

I also liked Contract and Cayo Perico heists. They were interconnected. Dr. DRE was supposed to fly with us to the Island, but after a call, where someone says "your phone with music was stolen" he outright refuses to fly.

Great review, I haven't played the new Last Dose missions yet and I still will, but I totally understand that this DLC is lacking. And yes, Rockstar has put up some great DLC's in recent years, so that's probably why this DLC doesn't feel too important, but I'm content with it. I enjoy the "quality of life" improvements like the acid lab specific features and the street dealers, and it makes MC businesses much more useful to me, as a solo player

I actually disagree, sure it wasn't "better" than the ones you've listed, but it was actually quite fun. I liked the stealth parts, I liked the Off the Rails mission (Both the train section and the Humane Labs section) and I liked the last mission. It is almost exactly the same with Trevor's mission, but (spoiler alert) instead of failing, we succeed this time. Instead of the cargo plane getting shot down, we land it and steal the drugs. It felt weird seeing the old story in a different way with a different ending. I prefer this over Los Santos Tuners CONTRACTS, man Sessanta and KDJ are so annoying that it isn't even funny anymore. They even say we get a small cut and they get a massive cut, they are just so narcissistic. Whereas Dax is friendly and appreciative. Musics are awesome, I don't remember Tuners' musics but I love the musics this update brought. It is also so fitting. Also I think the reason why nothing happened, is because they want to reuse Dr. Friedlander in the upcoming missions. Sometimes you don't need a story to have a meaning, it can just be a story that is told for fun. And in my opinion, this update sure was fun.

Most of his reasonings have been because he's tired of everyone seeing him as Trevor and not himself but like... dude played a main character in one of the largest video games of all time so idk what he was expecting...

Plus it's his choice to distance himself from the character as much as possible, especially since its probably affected his chance at getting other jobs, lots of actors have been known to avoid reprising certain characters as they dislike the role or hate being associated with only that role.

if anything, this feels like a DLC that should've been released much much earlier in GTAO's lifecycle. like maybe around the Bikers update (2017). Acid Lab feels like an MC Business, pays around the same as them and has similar amounts of content to DLC released before that one ie Lowriders. I do think DLC peaked too early and the community may have been kinder to Drug Wars if it had released earlier, rather than following updates like Doomsday, Cayo and Diamond Casino Heist.

Yep, as a noob (to online anyway), I appreciated the fact that it was solo-able. I do have to say, I questioned the solo-ability of the 3rd mission in the first dose which took my main many tries to get through. Last Dose seemed even more solo-able, however my main and alt have a ton of resources now that they didn't have when First Dose first released. After completing Last Dose on my main yesterday and getting that sweet ride, I finally started First Dose on my alt and that toon breezed through that 3rd mission that gave my main so much trouble. Using the Armored Kuruma almost felt like a cheat code lol (neither toon had one of those when First Dose first released). But yes, some nice stuff added, but as you said, a bit stretched and as others have said, not much replayability. Having done Dre Contracts and Cayo runs during the past month, I can see why the vets aren't that enthused in this DLC.

One of the mission musics that came from this DLC is my personal favorite, there's some complicated engineering and cooking for what would sound like a joke on the surface and there's also complicated handling and techniques that has to be respected when it's playing.

Completely agree with what you said TGG. I finished the Final Dose missions yesterday and I was like, "Oh, was that it?". The story was dead, every cutscene I just went on my phone because I was really bothered about the characters and I was getting sick of hearing "BUDUKADUNK" every 5 seconds. It was nice to get the $100k bonus after each mission the first time round, but what replayability is there really going to be? Absolutely none unless you want to help your friends go through it. I agree that the acid lab and the freemode events are a great addition to the game, but the rest of the update was extremely underwhelming. Thanks for your honest review TGG, hopefully someone at Rockstar is taking note of all this!

Yeah I have mixed feelings too, but I`d give 6,5-7/10 just because Acid Lab is very useful, as well as the stash houses especially. I had basically abandoned my MC businesses almost completely (except the Nightclub warehouse MC business sales), but getting free 75K stash that is usually for a MC business (Bunker and Acid Lab are also for CEO) is quite nice. Many times I can`t be bothered enough to buy MC supplies, but getting free supplies for one of the businesses and just having to do one usually annoyingly slow sale is just fine. Storyline and replayability definitely lacked and characters too were quite meh. Plus the Dax Fooliganz missions you can request for are not that good in terms of maiking money either.

Also with the Freakshop they could have added some mini heists similar to the Auto Shop with a higher payout, a new acid lab business where we can actually buy an acid lab and own a portable acid lab at the same time which is stored in this acid lab. If they did all of these things then yes this DLC would be a massive DLC actually it would be a huge DLC. They could have included a fight club in the Freakshop as well where we unlock new moves, cash and RP and even unlock some cool rewards like a free car or something like that the car we unlock can change every week with the weekly update.

Great review, TGG. I see the appeal somewhat to re-skinned missions. For Christmas, I bought my brother a PS5, and he only plays the online versions, so the missions are new for him. Rockstar is appealing to both sides of the fence by offering something for the onliners vs. the veterans.

not to mention many people have problems loading into the freak shop. personally me and my friend can only load in by setting it as our spawn location and then we cant get out, so we need to change the spawn location again. my friend told rockstar and they gave three automated reply's, basically blaming his Xbox, wifi, and user error...

I agree with all of this and 2 things I want to add which disappointed me. 1. The 50 car garage wasn't 1 room with 50 cars laid out which was what I thought it was gunna be also every ones garage is at the same place. Like I would of loved different options around the city for that. Also why can i customize the name for each floor. Also mayb3 have different layouts like in a circular pattern or some rack to put cars on. There's so much that could have been done and there was little 2. Same with the acid lab we all have it in the same place not dotted around and very little customisation to it. The best part of the whole thing was the mobile acid lab

I feel like this update suffered a lot from Ogg wanting nothing to do with being Trevor and essentially killing any future of the character. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were fairly deep into development before they had to massively switch things up. This would explain why the new characters are fairly underdeveloped, possibly why so many missions were reskinned, etc. What would've originally been the Trevor update would've been fairly sizable, such as Franklin's update was fairly decent (and had some lead-up into the update) and Michael update could also be fairly sizable, yet they presumably shot themselves in the foot and had to bullshit the update at the last minute. There also could've been so much more to this update that would've made sense, yet R* once again drops the ball. Though I also feel like there'll be more, maybe not Drug Wars specifically, but a story that leads into more with Friedlander; almost as if what used to be part of a two-a-year updates (such as Casino) will now be seasonal updates. Before we get 6, I just hope the Michael update is good (and who knows, Drug Wars - Friedlander - Michael could be a pipeline) and I hope we get a good Arena Wars 2, y'know something that isn't half baked and entirely bullshit, with the return of decent combat vehicles (maybe add this to the Michael pipeline as well, Arena Wars did have obvious movie-esque theming, this would pair well with Michael stuff as a post-Michael update).

Couldn't agree more, I was so so looking forward to this update when I 1st heard about it, and while it did give me street dealers like I wanted to it severely under performed when it came to into actual story in and the absolutely f****** ridiculous characters they put it into it 😑, I get the Gta has always been a parody and all, but need I remind anyone here that they have made so many truly grounded and some might say even truly dark entries in the past, (Gta IV being what comes to mind) and have also been able to make criminal enterprise building seem fun in the past (Vice city and Vice City Stories anyone?) I have been an advocate defender of GTA Online ever since its original release on October 1st 2013, and even I can no longer do so with a smile after the immense feeling of endlessly tired disappointment I feel now when this is all we get, and will likely continue to feel until VI is released 😮‍💨

My favorite part about the drug wars update is the only way to get into the freak shop is to set your spawn inside it and restart your game. It also seems they moved the mission start blip inside the freak shop once you’ve completed them all the first time around. I had to relaunch my game to start every Dax mission from start to finish for the free car.

I think Dax was originally supposed to be Trevor. I have no proof of this but it just seems like that. Now, in my opinion I’m glad that they didn’t released another type of heist. They were getting a little crazy with making every update a heist update, so I really enjoyed seeing the acid lab added as almost like another MC business. I think it was refreshing to change it up and give you another business instead of making one more heist. The drip feed was god-awful. This is my opinion, I have been playing this game since the release in 2013 so I have played so many heist’s and frankly, I’m tired of them. I haven’t even played Cayo in over five months. Cayo is a great heist, but I got bored of it very quick.

I did everything you can do in RDO so stared GTAO around the time The Contract dropped, which I found very good. I had fun playing years of GTAO content but R* started to lose me with the ULP missions (never finished), and now these last dose missions (haven't played at all).

I didn't mind the inclusion of contact missions, mainly cause I enjoy seeing my character in cutscenes 😅. The missions were fun, but when the last one ended and I got the phone call from Dax signalling the end of the missions... it felt really underwhelming. I was hoping it were leading to the chance to kill Isaiah friedlander. Also find it weird that Luchadora steals the smaller plane, but then can't fly the bigger plane. Could've allowed for some kinda saints row the third inspired mid-air parachute gunfight/chase to kill friedlander. I hope this isn't the last online DLC.

This is my assumption. They are setting up one massive final heist. It is going to involve Michael, Franklin, Lester and you. You will work for the IAA, fighting Friedlander and Clifford (AI). That thing will be in December most likely. In July-August they will give us another filler.

I really don't mind these type of updates, 11 new missions, a great new passive business that can be done solo easily, lots of qol updates, a new 50 car garage for us car people, new races, fooligan jobs. The best part of the update for me was the street dealers, suddenly my drug businesses are useful again and with the safe houses you can keep them stocked for free. It is a bare minimum of an update but when we know they are mostly working on GTA 6 I don't understand what people want them to do, slow down production on GTA 6 to give us a new cayo perico. I do agree that the length they are stretching the drip feed is bad though, a new car every week should be the minimum
