Birmingham, Alabama is a place that I have a ton of history and so many good memories from. I won the Bassmaster Classic here in 2010 and was so looking forward to my 2024 Redcrest competition. This was my final championship of my competitive career, my final shot. My tournament didn't go as planned but I had so many great moments with family, friends, fans, sponsors, and my fellow competitors. Bass fishing is the greatest sport on the planet and it's because of the people!

I well remember when this kid from Michigan burst onto the scene, winning check after check in tournament after tournament .. as if that was just normal. The name Kevin Van Dam quickly became synonomous with bass fishing. It was an event when he didn't finish in the money. He had an honest shot at winning everything he entered. Now ... nearly 40 years later ... KVD is undisputedly one of the very best ever, and likely one of the best there ever will be. Thanks for the memories, and the innovations you instigated in bass fishing. All the best.

Great job young man! You’ve left an amazing legacy for the whole world to follow! I’m 69 years young and I’ve been following you when all we could do is read about a professional bass fisherman kVD, the best! You’ve taught me a lot, I remember the best spinnerbait I got when you came along. I actually figured it out to slow roll it. It was amazing, how you have to feel the blades stop turning and reel down the slack and set the hook and he’s on! I still like it the best and this is the time of year to do it, thx buddy for for your example of being a real man and a real professional on and off the water. The other fishermen who think there a professional might become one if they follow your lead! I like the way you talk about your wife and boys and others. I try to do the same. I’ve got 5 kids and they all grew up fishing, my oldest daughter caught a 5 pound bass at age 3 years old, and reminds me of it every time I see her! LOL! Stay in touch with us. You still have a lot of years left in you, and Keep The Faith and THE ATTITUDE! 👍🥸🙏

My buddy yelled out “around the world” before he could even finish Kevin flipped that spinnerbait around and put it an inch off my buddies nose 7 rows back from the stage and pulled it back like it was nothing! It’s so sad that the future generations of young fishermen will be nothing but live scopers. It’s taken some of us half of our lives to perfect our fishing skills, learn patterns, conditions, and baits. We actually get excited to catch a big fish. The future of fishing will be nothing but robots casting at a fish they see on a screen. Kevin Van Dam is the last of a dying breed of true accomplished anglers.
