The Marianne sweater is so lovely on camera. Definitely go up a needle size for the sleeve but please don’t rip it out. It’s simply beautiful and deserves to be worn and adored. I’m always so thrilled when I see you’ve put up a podcast - I just love your content. I’ve been suffering here with 10 days of no sun but this last week the sun has been out and I’ve been out in it everyday. What a difference in how I feel. We are so alike in that way ❤ We are also alike in health anxiety and heart palpitations - I’ve had them all my life and every doctor I see I ask about them. I pray you will be just fine - you must because I just couldn’t live without your sweet podcasts!

I think the contrast in the textures and the contrast in the colors in your Maryanna Sweater is going to be great. You cannot get a good idea of what it will look like until you block it. I agree with your diagnosis of the sleeves. Larger needle, no decreases. It's great!

I think the colors of your Maryanna sweater are an unexpected combination, which makes the whole sweater really interesting. Keep it. The arms do look tight, so a larger hook & no decreases may help. Still praying for the doctors, that God will give them wisdom. Praying that you are constantly aware God's peace and presence with you.

I love your podcasts. Please don't frog the Marianne Sweater. The colours are really lovely being a total contrast. I like the socks you have knitted for a swop is a colour I would choose. The garment you are wearing has turned out very well it looks good on you. Oh yes you are also going to be busy with the Steven West Shawl. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your Marianne sweater is gorgeous. The grey allows the flowers to bloom all the more. Your plan for the sleeves is good. I have recently embraced ripping back when something doesn't feel right with my knitting. I learned that if I just march on and finish something when I have doubts while in progress, the end product isn't something I love and it doesn't get worn. So instead of wasting the entire knitting time on an unused item, I sacrefice a little time to redo what doesn't feel right.

I forgot to mention earlier that I think you will love making broth in the Instant Pot. I have an 8 quart that fits three carcasses in it and then I store the stock/broth in souper cubes which house 4 - 1 cup servings. Since my husband and I are in our 70’s-80’s we eat less and these 1 cup servings work well for us to use in making Mexican rice and other tasty things.

Every year, my husband and I watch the “Groundhog Day” movie with Bill Murray and Andie McDowell. It’s just a fun thing that celebrates the desire for Spring to return quickly. Maybe it will be early this year; at least the Mockingbirds think so, right?

I can definitely see the Gloam cardigan worn with spring colors as well as fall. It would be beautiful with a soft pink or green shirt underneath. As to the Marianne sweater, I like the contrast between the two yarns. It makes the color work stand out and take on a dimensional quality that might be lost if the yarns were more similar.

Hi Amber! So thankful for your outlook on your health issues, or should I say your “uplook”. I read Psalm 139 this morning before I watched this video. How encouraging to know the LORD is with you through every step of the way. Maybe you could do short sleeves on the colorwork pullover for spring, then finish them for the fall. I love the socks you are making for the trade. All your work is beautiful. Blessings

Always happy to see your podcast episodes pop up. I think your Marianne sweater is beautiful and I think you answered your own question about how to finish your sleeves. Sometimes we just need to ‘talk it out’ 😅 I lived in the Midwest, Ohio, most of my life so I know about those grey days☁️😬After retiring, we moved to Florida, much more sunshine which I love. Sometimes, I miss the season changes. It’s a trade off. You will be in my prayers, Amber, that your health issues get resolved. God is faithful. Prov. 3:5&6 ❤ Keep on knitting 😊

Glad to hear your thoughts on Gloam! I’ve had this pattern for a long time, changed my mind several times about which yarn to use, what size to make …. I prefer top down & seamless. I don’t feel quite so “intimidated” about seaming now. Two side seams… really, I can do this! The texture pattern drew me in when I first saw it. I still want to make this! Oatmeal or light grey (decisions!). Thanks for sharing!Socks are the BEST! Vertices is another “want to make”! I have a lot of hand-dyed / variegated… perfect for that pattern! Yessss, craving colorful things (purples, blues, greens striped w yellow-gold, long loop - infinity style - cowl on the needles), January was soooo long and grey/gloomy. Ready for Spring colors, for sure!

Hi Amber! Those wooden earrings plus your navy printed blouse under your newly finished honey ochre cardigan is such a lovely combo. Love your Maryanna sweater color combo! I totally agree with ripping out the sleeve if you aren't happy with the fabric and picking up with a needle size bigger and spacing out the decreases to what you like (I often will not start decreases until I'm past the elbow if I'm worried about it feeling too tight in the upper arm). And maybe a good wet block will even out the roundness in the gray yarn. Thank you so much for sharing! Take care! ~Stephanie

Hi Amber, your Marianne is beautiful! Maybe if you block the yoke it will rejuvenate your love for the sweater. I know exactly what you are referring to regarding the roundness of the grey yarn, but it will all even out beautifully because the Barrett Wool Co. yarn gets very plump when blocked. The contrast is so vibrant and with such a gorgeous yoke, it will really stand out. Definitely go up a needle size on the sleeves - I always have to do that because my small circumference gauge is tighter. I think you will love this when it's all finished - I can't wait to see it on you. Make sure you are resting and keeping your mind on only what is "true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise" Phil4:8 You're in my prayers :)

I think the colors are well suited to you-the grey looks great with your complexion and the browns in your hair color and glasses look very flattering. I have an Instant Pot for mainly 1 reason, to make my own yogurt. It is so much cheaper when I eat Greek yogurt and granola (that I also make myself) almost everyday. 1 gallon of milk and about a full day of hands off cooking, lasts me about a week. We also make pasta sauce, but not as often as I make yogurt. There's a lot of potential with it, you just have to experiment with it. Good Luck!

dear amber i get what you show us about the maryanna sweater and i tried to think it over - i could imagine if you rip a small amount of the body to create a cropped version and then knit some small rows in the color of the flowers in the yolk and then the ribbing and make the arms wider - maybe then it will not look bland for you anymore - but on the other hand - the yolk is so beautiful - maybe if you knit the arms more to your liking and you wear it often it will become a very loved sweater sending you all my best wishes ❤❤❤

I almost always encounter a wall of self doubt at some point in a project. I question the color, the design, the size….. if I put it in time out I can approach it with fresh eyes at a later date. Your sweater is lovely….finish it. Blocking will make a lot of difference.

Amber, I have knit with Cloudborne and Barrett wools, and I think their qualities are very different. I knit, and unraveled a Cloudborne sweater, and then donated it. Hard to explain how it looks but I think you are experiencing the same problem as me. But, the yoke is beyond beautiful...stunning !!! I would reknit the sleeves in a looser gauge, make them short, and use the Barrett wool for the ribbing. Would be a stellar layering piece in your wardrobe....best wishes on your health journey ❤ Janet

I’m using one of the Opal Van Gogh yarns to make a Tolsta Tee and the colors are so stunning. Your “barter socks” look amazing.

Keep the Marianne sweater! It’s lovely. Perhaps add a motif above the cuff …? I really like the grey.

Agree that the sleeves on Marianne are decreasing too, much. Some colorwork at the bottom might be beautiful.

Did we have an early spring last year? I remember seeing a robin on New Year's day a year ago. Amber, your knitting is as beautiful as your spirit. Please don't rip out the sweater. You keep knitting, I'll keep praying for you! Peace and Blessings everyone 🌻🧶☕️

I think an instant pot is just a fancy pressure cooker....I MUCH prefer my air fryer...I use it for EVERYTHING, especially reheating.. I rarely use a microwave anymore. I love the mini vertices unite!!! It's adorable...like a big coaster!! Definitely DON'T frog the sweater!! Just redo the sleeve!! It's beautiful!! There's a mockingbird in my area that has cellphone ringtones!! 😂🤣😂 They look different regionally, ours are solid black (central California).... And actually attack cats!!! 😳 Blue jays are even worse for attacking!!! Ours aren't crested. But some of the ferals I feed are afraid of them!! 😂🤣😂

Your mockinbird makes cell phone ringtones? That's hilarious! Our mockingbirds also attack our cats, but they have good reason to. Our cats have killed a couple of their baby birds.

Hey Amber At the bottom of color-work do two rows of purl. Then do the body in different grey hue. Maybe a blue/grey yarn or green/grey??? Just a suggestion!!😊

I love the Gloam! Also, for the colorwork yoke sweater, I love it! I think the "flatness" of the gray is a beautiful canvas for the colorwork and the raised orange/brown is gorgeous against it. Definitely make the sleeves comfortable, for sure, but I love it! (A thought that might help with balance and maybe getting through the sleeves: what if you mirror the colorwork on the sleeves before the cuffs? I always love designs like that.) I hope it's so satisfying to knit and to finish!

Amber, I am knitting a Felix and had to rip out the sleeve and pick up again with a larger needle. It made all the difference. I hope that works for you. The sweater is lovely.

I personally love the sweater! What if you would include a bit of color work at the base of the sleeves before you start the cuff, maybe something similar to the leaves in the top? Tie in the rust color somewhere lower on the sweater. And for the blanket, actually keep eye on your guage. I did the knitted blanket kit a few years ago from Jimmy Beans and actually ran out of yarn for a few of the colors. I wasn't the only one so they were nice and would send a small amount to finish that section (I guess some of their skeins was under the 100g). Happy knitting! 🧶
