Awesome, suture video coming out this morning. In my pack, I carry a headlamp that is small and rechargeable so I completely agree with you light is necessary.

How about good old tegaderm? Just some 2 inch or 4 inch. Can tape around to secure but rather than only gauze. And is the syringe sterile saline and prepackaged? And why not a mini antiseptic spray? Also burn care, some ointment cause campfires? And is there anything thatd inflate to a makeshift splint like a balloon or roll out like a telescope? The worst case is a longbone fracture out there given your setup. Also ocular occlusion, maybe one? And what about chest seal or silver dressings? Wilderness, accidental GSWs? Your kit is already surgeon grade and above and beyond though, great work Edit: can’t forget the basics, I have been kicking myself over lacking pocket mask and nitrile gloves for possible bystander EMS Also throwing in a large dressing for evisceration

Tegaderm is great, but I've found that sometimes it gets folded on itself and gets gummed up so I stopped carrying it. Since it's temporary I'll use gauze and tape to cover or coban. I think a small antiseptic spray is a great idea, thanks for the suggestion, my pack just got better :) For burn care I think an aquacell dressing would be ideal and I may change the pack if I'm going camping, it's certainly a dynamic pack. If I had to care for a burn with this back I would clean, debride any blisters and apply bacitracin followed by a petroleum gauze, gauze and an ace wrap if needed. I recently made some packs for friends and I put a SAM splint in each pack which I think it great for stability. If there is a long bone fracture I may need to use paracord to apply traction and then the triangular bandages to secure to an adjustable ski pole or a stick or something...would need to get creative. I look at it as a dynamic pack, something that can change. And one thing I should have mentioned that I didn't isa that I always have a set up XL gloves :). They're not sterile but they're clean. Thank you for such a thoughtful comment and suggestions!

Thank you once again for this very useful information. Seems many of these things should be in a home medicine cabinet too. I am ashamed to admit I am very poorly equipped. I don’t even own a thermometer. Are things like steri strips and dermabond available in pharmacies? I looked up dermabond on Amazon Canada and it brought up Crazy Glue. That made me laugh!
@citizensurgeon11 күн бұрын
Thanks Nora! Definitely don't put crazy glue on your wound, it has toxins such as formaldehyde and can cause inflammation as well as infection so keep that in the cupboard. Happy I could provide some help!

@ No, I would not use Crazy Glue. I think Amazon just saw the word bond and thought I was looking for glue.

Yes, but some people use glue even though it's a bad idea :)
