We got there on Friday! Managed to get a fire going, met a lovely couple, Laura and Gary. We bailed out at 5 am after hearing a rat! Lovely place but hard going with terrential rain overpacked bags and limited firewood. Would definitely camp in future but not fit enough for the hiking game lol. Glad we did it tho. All the best.

I wish that we here in the USA could be decent enough to make the idea of the bothy work here as it does there. Some of the bothys (bothies?) I have seen, in these various videos from you and others in the UK, look like they may have been there for decades; some, perhaps a century or more. A bothy in the USA would not last a year and would be foul beyond words in a few months. Bless you for cleaning the place up and leaving some firewood behind for the next guy (bloke?). One never knows when the next guy may arrive in desperate need of a fire and be too knackered to gather firewood. You may have saved a life or three. Again, thank you for this video.

Thanks for watching mate appreciate it ye we have a Bothy Association that keeps a eye on them and dose any maintenance but the majority of people that use these respect them and keep them clean but there is the odd few that don't but if we all do our bit they should last a lifetime we have lots scattered around the British countryside some are very hard to get to some are very easy to get to this was just a short walk but one amazing area it's a pity that this couldn't be done in America I have seen videos like on Trails that there is small little shelters to be used when walking the trails having something to sit and dry your clothes and relaxed for a night it's definitely better than being stuck in a tent thanks again for your comment atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

When it comes to fire starters I like melted wax in paper egg cartoons. They keep a flame long enough to get the fire going well. Looks like you guys are making out pretty well!

Cracking video mate, and a brilliant bothy, everytime I visit one, I end up carting bags of others sh1t back mate, like you say, it's not hard to take it away with you is it? Know what you mean about walking when you are not used to it, and its worse when you walk about on pavements and suddenly get of the tarmac, even though you are used to doing the miles. Very enjoyable guys - but crikey you took a hard way in! That looked a punishing hike with that sized bergen, worth it tho to get the bothy to yourselves and well done for the tidying up jobs before and after your stay. Nice one guys. Thankyou for tidying up and stressing to other's the importance of not littering our beautiful county. I live and work here, was born here and don't want to live anywhere else. This is God's country. My late uncle was a hill shepherd and worked on those crags, he would have hated people leaving litter and breaking dry stone wall's and leaving gates open etc. Some people need to have a great deal more respect for the environment where other people live and work on a daily basis. (seven days a week and very long hour's laming etc or forestry work. Please come out to the countryside but look after her, remember it is other people's work place, and don't interfere with country practices, townies and city people simply do not understand the reason's why thing's are done and have evolved. Thankyou lads, I have enjoyed your video, you both did everything right and for trying to teach other's to do so. I presently live and work near Walkwarth and most of my walking is along the coast. Thanks for watching Andrew really appreciate it mate ye we try are best to respect the outdoors as we love to be out there and that Bothy was a mess when we arrived so a quick clean up and a nice night we had something different to what we normally do but next day it was stocked up with fire wood and left clean some people just don't understand or respect the outdoors I'm afraid you can't teach some people but if one person dose take on board what we say then it's a win hopefully you check out some of my other video's and enjoy watching them thanks again atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
