My First Cat 5 Crit Race, Will I Get Dropped?? [Yes] (Gamblers Crit)

My first Category 5 Criterium Race in the Gamblers Crit series, this one in Downtown Bixby. Winds were 20+ mph, on a very easy 4-corner course.

Why wait? You certainly dont need to come into races as prepared as I was, in fact, I wish I had done a few more low stakes races before this one. Either way, glad you enjoyed the video :)

3 important points... 1 do not compete if you are not ready, 2 when you compete do not wear yourself out so much when closing the spaces, 3 practice turning the curves more, in the criterio it is very important to know how to turn, I am not saying this for you, in you video I see that none of those boys knew how to turn correctly, they lost speed in those simple curves, if you master the art of turning, you beat everyone, since in the curves you can attack and with an ooco more level, you arrive alone, put I hope you have the patience and the youth, you can go far, good luck

Solid video and good work! From racing this course last year, guys have absolutely clipped pedals through these corners (so perhaps you were riding it more appropriately then you thought). Hopefully we will see you at the Natural State Crits (Springdale) later this summer.

Seems like your 'ride the front casually and see what happens' technique was the downfall for your team. Maybe better to be more aggressive and attack, or sit in and chase down moves by other teams. Looks like you rode really safe and had a great time, so that's all that really matters for your first one. Good luck with the rest of the season, you guys are going to do well I can tell!

Defintely don’t think the race was lost during my 3 casual laps at the beginning. Would overall agree though, that having a more active/aggressive plan may have been a better play overall.
