Curious if the screens on your helmet help much with sawdust and chips flying in your face or if it is more so just for keeping twigs from slapping your face?

The screen helps a lot. The holes are less than a millimeter wide, that it really keeps anything blowing right at it off your face. Most of the stuff ending on your cheeks, up your nose and in your eyes, gets in from the sides. That's why I always wear safety glasses

Thanks for the info! I always wear safety glasses when I’m cutting but have to wear glasses with the foam around “safety goggles” to prevent stuff getting in during slightly windier days. But those are uncomfortable so trying to find an alternative.

I’ve heard that cottonwood hinges poorly and is brittle.

I've heard the same thing, and it definitely is brittle. I didn't have any critical shots, so I really couldn't put the hingewood to the test.
