I'm an 18yr RN at a teaching Hospital and I see the new Residents come every July. Advice treat your nurses with respect they will be your saving grace. 2. Don't change from being a nice respectful new resident to a mean Chief! Don't take anything personal the Attendings say to you, some of them are $#@$. Keep pushing young man!!!

Congratulations MH… let me offer this. 80 hours per week, can quickly become 100 hours per week. The medical industry, much like the police industry, has yet to figure out the psychology/physiology of sleep deprivation. What you see day in and out can cause PTSD. Take care of yourself. I would suggest starting to see a counselor right away, just for personal growth. PTSD is a real thing among doctors and nurses. They tend to ignore and dismiss… don’t do it… thanks for answering your call.
