First of all, thanks! I absolutely LOVED the NYFA and I learned so much there. All of the teachers were phenomenal and interesting and my peers were also really great and diverse. 10/10 recommend. I knew a couple people in the acting program and I know they also enjoyed their experience. And being able to study film, or acting, in NYC is just so cool!

I learned a lot of valuable production skills and a lot of theory practices to help make better stories and when editing create a certain tone/vibe. For me, it also enabled me to work on some small sets which was so much fun and really cemented that film was what I wanted to do:)

So the program when I did it was about $4,600 in estimated fees (I check the papers I got) though part of that was estimated production costs which are really up to you. I also had to buy a monthly train pass and path/subway fees when commuting. So it was expensive. But I think it was worth it.

Why spend all that time and money for a film school when most people just get together and make a film be it a documentary, short film, animated. You learn that yourself instead of paying for a boot camp style schedule hurrying you around all day long and most of those students never get anywhere ... they just paid too much money for nothing.
@LaurenSchwartzbard4 жыл бұрын
I actually learned loads and part of making it in the industry beyond the youtube and vimeo exhibitons is networking and who you know. By going to school I've gotten to learn from filmmakers from all around the world! I wouldn't trade that for anything. Plus you get access to awesome equipment that I could not afford on my own
