Japanese ppl have some significant rules. Just becoz ur tourist doesnt mean u should break them. For example ppl in japan DNT TALK in train, until its absolutely necessary. Thats why those 2 ppl left seats beside u.

I live in Japan and I want to point out a couple of things about public etiquettes which a new tourist may not be aware of. Talking on the phone in trains, buses is considered rude (you will see no phone signs in there). Also please be careful of filming because some places have no camera signs and in general Japanese people like to have their privacy. Although wearing masks outside in optional locals clearly feel more comfortable if people wore them at least inside public transportations. Cheers, and have a good time in Japan!
