Thanks mate! At the end of the day it’s all about who scores the most points. In Haaland’s case, I assess him as part of a 3 player group in order to accommodate him. We need to consider captaincy and future transfers for each set of players keeping in mind where the price points are (i.e. midfield or forward etc.) and who we will buy for those prices in the coming weeks. An example would be something like the following 2 choices: Haaland + Joao Pedro + Szoboszlai = 27.0m Isak + Havertz + Palmer = 27.0m If you think that your combo of Haalandless options will score more points for the first few weeks of the season, then I encourage you to go for it. If you don't shoot you can't score. 💪

Hi Steve glad to see you back, wanted to say thanks as your insight helped me to 10k last year. Thoughts from me on initial drafts - a lot here which shows I am invested in your content!: Foden - I want him in my team but I don't think I will own him GW1. I am concerned that he may be eased into the season and I don't love City in GW5/6. I think I will look to bring him in GW7 and then he's potentially a season keeper. Instead I think I'll be gambling on Nkunku and using the extra £3m elsewhere. Haaland - he's currently in my team but, similar to Foden, I'm wondering if the best play is to bring him in GW7. He is a flat track bully and has often gone missing against tough defences which he will face in GW5 ARS and GW6 new. I think that Watkins could match him in the first 6 then I expect a drop-off as Villa start their UCL campaign, and City's fixtures turn to a sea of green. Newcastle fixtures - I don't like the look of them. SOU is plum but after that it's 5 away in the next 8 and home fixtures are TOT MCI & BHA. Most other teams I wouldn't mind the home/away ratio but Newcastle under Howe have been the most Home dependant team in the league - maybe that changes this season but I don't feel comfortable hoping for it. I'll have Isak but no defenders, and Gordon is 50/50 depending on if I can replace him with an emerging Liverpool asset. Everton def - I really like their start to the season. Dyche is as proven as it gets and their run from GW5 to GW14 is the best in the league. I predict their defenders to be top of CS by December. Arsenal fixtures - they travel away to Villa, Spurs, City, Newcastle, Chelsea in the first 11 games. Looking at how Arteta sets up in the big games I expect low scoring in all of those (except maybe Spurs) so I will continue to back their defence but I am avoiding attacking assets to begin with. I think I will look to get on them in GW6 - likely with Havertz at the front of the queue (potentially for Isak as he goes MCI eve BHA che ARS from GW6-10). Rolling transfers - I think it's ambitious to predict that you can avoid making transfers in the first few weeks in order to bank 3/4 for a big set of changes. There are always problems, injuries, benchings, and emerging players. Imagine the shake-up on the first Friday night of the season if Rashford scores two against Fulham. Also, early season price changes are also tempting (for me) as a) the market is most volatile at the start, and b) team-value is returns most value the earlier you acquire it, so I think I will be aggressively moving while the rest of the managers are potentially more patient in order to bank their moves. My current draft for your critique if you're so inclined: Pickford / Saliba / Mykolenko / Branthwaite / Barco / Salah / Gordon / Eze / Nkunku / Haaland / Isak / Wood Future plans: Arsenal assets in GW6, City in GW7. On paper this could be Salah & Gordon -> Foden & Saka

Gidday! Solid rank last year, congrats mate! 💪 Foden: If he’s not going to be playing GW1 then I too will look to shift him on. I’ll be watching Nkunku in that Celtic fixture at some point today and will provide an update on him in the next video. Haaland: I think going without Haaland for 4 gameweeks to avoid 2 fixtures in gameweeks 5 and 6 needs some careful consideration. Haaland could have scored 7 goals or more by then. Chelsea’s defence is looking leaky, Ipswich is a flat track bully team, and West Ham had the 2nd to worst xGC for the last 5 gameweeks last season of the teams still in the premier league. Brentford will probably be tough to break down, but they could still put a few past them too. Newcastle: Joelinton makes a huge difference in midfield, especially for defensive cover, so we need to assess how they’re looking. The fixtures are a little tough though, so Burn is anything but nailed. Gordon is my cover for Isak. Everton: Fixtures are great from GW5, the first 4 look tough. Losing Onana definitely needs assessment for their defensive prospects. Arsenal: I wouldn’t underestimate Arsenal’s attack, all those defences can be gotten at by an efficient and exploitative team like Arsenal. I actually prefer watching Arsenal’s attack over City’s. Yes City generate big xG chances but it’s very much an anti-flair system, whereas Arsenal will try intricate and more difficult plays, making for a much better footballing spectacle, as well as allowing the players true quality and talents to shine. What I'm really saying is that both ARS & MCI can score against anyone, so the fixtures don't play as big of a part for the attackers. Rolling: Yes I’ve got a strategy video coming on this very topic. Your draft: Looks strong mate! A couple of notes. Triple Everton might struggle at the start, but if no one gets injured it’s got a good chance to pay off if you hold for the long run. As above though, losing Onana needs assessment. Barco needs to be nailed, otherwise it’ll be quite risky relying on him. I’m not saying he’s not nailed btw, but you’d need to be pretty sure he’s playing to have a setup with two 4.0m defenders. Nkunku: As above, I'll provide some thoughts soon.

im thinking going with only salah and having 8 attackers ...8 attackers could be a nice way forward especially gives u a greater squad and saving them transfers early on could be huge.
@xzvelocityzx75135 ай бұрын
A haaland salah draft does look quite strong. I feel like it is a bit less flexible though, not having watkins/isak scares me.
@Matty-gl1xq5 ай бұрын
You can have all 4. Just leaves the defence as 4.5 only and a weaker 5th midfielder but I'm on a Salah, Haaland, isak and Watkins draft currently
@GKneeIssYT5 ай бұрын
The price paid for Haaland & Salah is a bit of flexibility, but I think there’s value in the enabling positions. Watkins & Isak could do damage though.
@GKneeIssYT5 ай бұрын
@@Matty-gl1xq Yes I imagine you could have all 4 if you went very cheap at the back. And who knows, with the reduced clean sheets through additional extra time combined with less BPS for defenders this season, perhaps this is the way to go.
@johnnyboy-f6v5 ай бұрын
Fwiw... 1. The Haaland + Salah draft is not the way to go IMHO. Remove Haaland and replace with Isak to free up £6.5m. 2. Improve your midfield by removing Szobozlai. 3. Joao Pedro is a weakness. Best of luck.
@ThortheMerciless5 ай бұрын
But, looking at Liverpool yesterday, it is Salah that I might be more willing to do without. If Slot is going to go with Sboboszlai in that 'number 10 role', then he will be better value. Replace Salah with Nkunku and you can afford to upgrade the benchwarmer to Isak and still have £2m to strengthen your squad further.
@GKneeIssYT5 ай бұрын
Gidday, 1. Why don't you think it's the way to go? 2. Any reasons for going against Szoboszlai? 3. Which 5.5m player would you have instead?
@GKneeIssYT5 ай бұрын
@@ThortheMerciless Good points mate! Well, apart from maybe the Nkunku pick as I don’t currently rate him, but it’s early days and he will be VERY rusty. But yes, Salah might be a bit further away from goal, and the 6.5m midfield spot does have some other intriguing options at that price point.
@johnnyboy-f6v5 ай бұрын
@@GKneeIssYT My answers to your Qs... 1. £27.5m tied up in two players (albeit fantastic) is just too much and restricts your options. Yes, you can rotate their captaincy but what if just one of them blanks or gets injured? I've seen various drafts with both in and it just does not seem to work. Have one or the other but not both, IMHO. 2. Szobozlai... Great player. Could work but new manager, new system, average last year. Just better options for the £6.5m price point IMHO. 3. Gibbs-White, Nkunku, or for an extra £0.5m, Eze.
@GKneeIssYT5 ай бұрын
@@johnnyboy-f6v I like to get all my money on the pitch, whereas other managers like to spread the funds and have a stronger bench. This is kind of part of the strategy of going heavy. If they both blank in their respective Ipswich matches then that’s just unfortunate, but they could both come away with hattricks. And I don’t tend to worry about injuries unless a player is prone to them or is very recently coming back from something serious. We haven’t seen Szoboszlai play in the CAM role in a 4-2-3-1 system yet, so his previous data is not comparable given his role was so different under Klopp. And with that group of players around him he could absolutely flourish. There are lots of good options in the 6.5m bracket though. Gibbs-White and Nkunku are midfielders and are 0.5 & 1.0m more expensive. I could move the price point back into midfield but I’d then have to lose Foden to do so. The Foden + cheap FWD vs. Isak + cheap MID decision is quite a tough decision though!
@Matty-gl1xq5 ай бұрын
Eze is in my draft and at the start was non negotiable because of his price. However with olise gone and mateta potentially at the Olympics for the start of the season/ needing a rest I'm slightly more concerned that eze could swing from being the talisman to the best player in a low scoring team. Slot appears to play a formation that will see the RB invert and as a result the LB move to a LCB. Robertson might not offer the attacking value of old if this is the case and may even share more minutes with the more defensive minded Gomez as a result. Something to keep an eye on.
@GKneeIssYT5 ай бұрын
Olise and Mateta are key positions in the attack and could definitely affect Eze’s output, we’ll have to see how Palace recruit and what the Olympics situation is like across the coming weeks. Yes I did notice that Slot was playing with Bradley going into RM (as opposed to an inverting CDM) with Tsimikas moving to LCB, but that was with a False 9 system. It’ll be interesting to see what he does when he’s got a striker to play. His favoured formation is said to be a 4-2-3-1 which would make use of wingbacks, assuming he reverts to this when Gakpo/Jota/Nunez are available, then Robertson & TAA/Bradley could be poised to do quite well. What will be interesting to see is who gets the CAM role. Szoboszlai, Elliot and MacAllister could all put in shifts there. If Szoboszlai is played in a CDM role I think it’s a waste, and he looks too good to bench, so at the moment I’m favouring him to get the nod.
@Matty-gl1xq5 ай бұрын
@@GKneeIssYT apparently he operated a similar system at feyenoord. His RB had double figure goal contributions as an inverted wing back and the lb moved into the left side of a back 3. This is only what I've heard on other channels and not something I've seen myself.

@@Matty-gl1xq I haven’t seen any of his previous teams play so I’m running a bit blind with him, I guess we’ll see as preseason progresses. Looking into his recent interview in early July, he’s quoted as saying the following: “So sometimes it is a 4-2-3-1; sometimes it is a 4-1-4-1; sometimes we do build up with three. So there’s a lot of ‘freedom’ when we have the ball. “But when we don’t have the ball there is not so much freedom. We want to be really aggressive and there’s only one way, and that’s everybody mostly keeps his position. “I wouldn’t put myself in the situation where I say I prefer a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 or 4-1-4-1, there are a lot of players taking in a lot of different positions. “So if you would have asked me, I would have said we played 4-3-3 instead of 4-2-3-1 at Feyenoord.” “But we did build up a lot of the time with three [at the back], full-backs have different roles.” With a wry grin, he added: “I’m curious who told you we played 4-2-3-1, maybe that one should go get his [coaching] licence,” he said with a laugh. “Or analyse a bit better!” Having watched the Betis match I can definitely say that it’s a fluid system, there were players all over the pitch taking on numerous roles 💯 This could be chaos! 😍⚽

Thanks mate! Haha, yes it does scare me, but with Arsenal having to play Villa, Spurs & City all away in the first 5 fixtures I think I can dodge them to start with. My biggest fear is actually not having Palmer in GW2 given how many goals Wolves were giving away late last season.

Very nice balance. Just a question tho. Wouldn't it be better to pick Isak, as he is on penalties? What's your take on that?
@GKneeIssYT5 ай бұрын
Thanks! In this draft I think it’s a combo of Pedro + Foden vs. Isak + additional 6.5m. Chelsea’s defence is looking shoddy and Ipswich in GW2 looks pretty good for Foden. Foden gets the extra point for the goal and an extra point for a clean, so Isak needs 2 returns to keep pace if both players score. This doesn’t count bonus points though and I’m not sure if forwards will do better than midfielder’s or not yet, so perhaps Isak pulls points back through the BPS changes. I also haven’t seen either team play in preseason yet, so this draft is just based off of last year’s performances.
