My first ever Troy-Bilt Snow blower

Hey guys, we received about 5 inches of snow and I'm going to use my Troy-Bilt snow blower for the first time. I actually have never owned a snow blower before but we needed something to clear the snow with. It is a Troy-Bilt Storm 2820 Snow Blower. I will do further updates about how the machine runs over the winter.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your new snow blower. You did good by NOT buying a 3-stage snow blower. Most who buy them regret doing so. If you use silicone spray on your shoot cables it will help them from freezing up. Your blower seemed to work really well. Don't forget to keep your gears and chains lubricated at least every other year. While doing that, take the wheels off and lube the axles so they won't rust to the axles. I also use none ethanol fuel, if available in your area it would be wise to use it. If not, use a fuel stabilizer and drain the carburetor when done for the season. Nothing worse than a corroded carburetor when it comes time to use your machine. Thanks for sharing and have a safe and blessed winter.

Thanks for the video! The Troy-Bilt looks like a solid machine. My gramps had a gravel drive on his farm. He would try to level & roll it every fall before the snow flew to help minimize gravel going through his snow blower.

I have the same one . Was given to me from my grandfather .. but its been sitting for sometime. I oiled up some parts and im going to put a new plug in with fresh gas and give her a start soon. Its almost her time but i want to do that lil mod with the rubber to shoot the snow real far

I just bought one in September a 26 inch Troybilt from Home Depot and I love it. It was $799 plus tax plus free delivery and assembly and they changed the price to $999 plus tax. Best purchase ever. Have fun!

Looks and sounds like you're on gravel! Lower the shoes to raise the scraper blade up. On gravel, the track model has a gravel setting which keeps the blade raised above the gravel which keeps the gravel stones from damaging the auger and the machine's paint.

I think you did jolly well and made a really good job of those paths/driveway. The snow-blower certainly made short work of clearing the way. Just a suggestion is to maybe not aim the snow to blow on your car, just in case you pick up a rock that could break your windows.

I've had a Troy-Built for about 15 years. I don't use it a lot because the snow usually doesn't stay long and I just drive over it because it typically melts in a few days in Ohio, but I thought it did pretty well until I saw a premium brand blowing snow. It does well enough and costs much less than the big name snow blowers, so I'm happy with it. (it still runs) I don't take as good of care of it as I should such as using fuel stabilizer and running it out of gas but it still works, it's just not quite as fast as the others are but a solid machine. Hope you get many good years with it. Watch the gravel/limestone it will shoot out the front as well as the chute. You should have a solid machine, it will save your back!

Yeah, it has worked fairly good after a couple warranty repairs but could use a bigger machine up here for sure. I set the unit up a little bit higher and that works with not catching too much gravel.

Better for your back no doubt. Also move blades up…you’ll loose most of your gravel, dull the blades and possibly ding your cars or windows! Keep cars away from the cleaning area or move in garage temporarily till you’ve done it all 👍

I bought a small 24 inch Toro 2007 runs like a tank never had a problem with it. I have to upgrade cause I have a three car garage. Does your snow blower throw far?

I just got one of these. I kind of thought it was running funny at full throttle, but yours seems to have a slight surge too at full throttle. Must just be a Troy bilt thing. Mine has the smaller engine tho, 243cc. Tip for you, get 91 non-oxygenated gasoline, it's cost a bit more but it doesn't have any ethonal in it. Ethonal is the killer of these little carbs. Gum them up in no time.

I had to bring the machine in for service as a cable broke that turns the auger and they replaced the carburetor under warranty as they said it shouldn't be surging. I also always use premium fuel and have no problems.

Pretty good for a beginner. :) Keep taking care of it it will last longer, did you know you can spray the chute to help not the snow to get stuck and kinda lubricate too, you can get specific spray for it or if you have silicone spray, WD40 or even any oil will do well you just have to apply almost every time a little bit, the other spray made for it is 1 or 2 times a year, you already have snow lol, here nothing, just a little bit of freezing rain, about 10 mins. Good luck with your new toy, man that driveway is pretty long, the food thing is when the spring comes you gone be in shape like you never been. :)

Oh Gosh!!!!!!! the snow came so quick. That's a fun toy Dennis. And how that saves on using the shovel. Did you have to refill the tank on doing what you did. How lovely your house looked with the snow on top. It looked like a swiss chalet in the mountains. I love that the pup is always with her dad when your out and about. Do take care stay warm .
