Wow...your pictures are actually in focus. Such a refreshing change from the junk that's usually out there from people's film cameras. Excellent work indeed Daniel.

That squeaking mirror mechanic is a relatively easy fix! I fixed my A1 with a tiny amount of silicone spray two years ago and it works like a charm since. All you need is courage, a drop of lubricant in the right spot and a guy on KZbin telling you where that particular spot is and how to reach it :D

I got one in 1979. I took tons of great pictures with it. Retired it after digital cameras came into being. I had it on display on a shelf at home (along with my AE-1 Program) and recently decided to mess around with it. The thing is built like a friggin tank. It still works (So does the AE-1P). All I needed to do was buy a battery. Amazing engineering by Canon at the time. Quality lasts!

that’s amazing! I hope you enjoy taking photos with it again! I should use my A1 more. They’re great cameras.

That “Silver Nose” 50mm was a great find. An older FD lens that’s pretty rare

I have the exact same camera (with the exact same lens). Which film did you use for the photos you shared and did you set the ASA (ISO) at the speed the film is rated at?

I absolutely love my A-1. Easy to use. Can switch from full auto to manual in a couple of seconds. Such a robust little unit as well. Subscribed to the channel

Great video. When you stop down and for instance shoot 400 film at 200 do you develop it as 400 film or as 200?
@DanielJamesBird2 жыл бұрын
I develop it as normal so that by shooting it at 200 I get that one stop of overexposure!

I agree with your point! I recent picked up my A-1 and it’s is in pristine condition. I’m guessing the owner before me had it and never used it. But alongside my Canon 90D which I primarily use for my shoots and work. I want to venture with my A-1 to create those personal and truly creative and artistic moments in life on 35mm. Digital is so advanced it’s almost like programming to get an expected look or outcome, film is such a fun experience because you can control every aspect and it’s still not guaranteed what may come out in the end! & also Subbed! 🙏🏽

I love the A1 - it still holds a special place in my heart being my first ever film camera. Thanks for the kind words!

Hey great video! The A1 is also my first own film camera. And i got it from my dad too! Awesome camera especially with the 50mm 1.4 which I use too. Mine has some missing plastic bits and I am thinking of getting a broken second one to steal parts off of. Keep the nice videos going! :) Greets from Germany 😊

I’ve had mine 43 years, think about that, when I bought it the time from world war 2 ended to when I bought is less then I owed it to today
