Your snowy sweater is absolutely gorgeous. I love how it turned out and your cardigan is coming along beautifully. I have never knitted with 2 strands together and have seen so many knitters pairing with silk mohair that I have to try it. Your information on the mohair possibly shedding is good to know before I make any purchases so thank you for that. You are quite an inspiration to this 67 year old. Keep up the knitting journey and I look forward to going on that journey with you.

Congratulations on your first spin; your yarn is beautiful, and I agree that the variation in thickness is charming. The sweater you are wearing is just lovely. You have progressed so fast in your knitting confidence and outcomes.

Gorgeous knits, as always! That sweater looks beautiful on you, and your cardigan is coming along nicely. I like those two yarns held together. Yay! for your first handspun skein! It's very exciting, isn't it?! That will look great as something to wear on your head - the colour suits you well, and the rich texture is beautiful. Keep well! Hope the next few weeks are fun and exciting and positive.

Thank you Tracy! The handspun is very exciting; I can't wait to look for patterns to highlight it :) I'm looking forward to having the cardigan done in time for the start of my practice teaching.

I love your videos! My project bags are random… I love using Ziploc bags because I can see the projects inside…Certainly not glamorous, but perfect for me. Good luck with the last stretch of your degree and many thanks for taking time to share with us ❣️

Thank you for this kind comment! I hear you about wanting to be able to see what you're working on. I often keep the WIPs that won't really leave my room in open shoeboxes on one of my knitting shelves. A more aesthetic set-up may come in the future, but like you said, it works for me!

Emily, I’m very intrigued by your success in spinning!!! I tried it last year, and I have a drop spindle and Turkish spindle, but no success. Would you mind sharing with me the videos you watched? I would love to give it a second shot! Btw, the cardigan looks stunning!🤗🥰

Hi Helen! I found Walnut Farm Designs videos most simple and helpful, but I really learned most from ebooks I got from my public library. My favourite was Yarnitecture by Jillian Moreno which is a book that Andrea Mowey recommended on the spinning portion of her podcast

Wanted to let you know, I’ve bought handspun from someone before and made tuques with it and it was beautiful! The texture was entirely lost and I loved that!

I just used the Aloft in silver with a thrifted light beige mystery animal fiber yarn and I absolutely love how the fabric and color turned out! It’s like a greige or taupe and I think it looks like the color of a rabbit, a lot like yours. Mohair can be so fun when it doesn’t match perfectly!

Yay! I'm happy you're loving your fabric! Have you seen the video from Tayler Seeking Cozy about mohair pairings? Her hand dyed mohairs inspired me to opt for variegated mohair over a varigated base for my Monica Geller Tee, and I just thought it was a brilliant idea

@@highfiberknits I have seen it, it’s such a great idea! I have yet to try a hand dyed mohair but I definitely need to very soon.

I used Knitpicks Aloft combined with their city tweed for the Wednesday sweater by Petiteknit. I think that Aloft is a really nice cheaper option for a mohair. I will say that the mohair "wisps" shed even in a finished object BUT not excessively. I have worn this sweater a TON over the past 3 months and the mohair is holding up wonderfully, it just leaves some silver fluff on my black leggings XD Anyway I hope that helps. Thanks for another podcast!!! the champagne cardigan is looking amazing!!

I just got myself some yarn to make matching socks for me and partner, but I have yet to find the exact pattern! Do you swatch your sock patterns first? Would love to know! 😍
@highfiberknits2 жыл бұрын
Hi Harry! I don’t typically swatch for socks because historically I meet the gauge with the needles indicated on ball bands. I usually just use that info and feet measurements to arrange the math for myself! For foot circumference I err on the side of snug and for the length of cuff down I leave about 2.25 inches for toe decreasing. 😃

I’m knitting a pair of socks too but it’s bamboo sock yarn and it’s seems like it’s taking me FOREVER to finish that second sock! I am excited to wear them but it feels like I’m knitting it so slowly! Second sock syndrome sucks!

How many ball of yarn from drops are you using instead of the original yarn to Luminen pullover

Great question! If you have access to Ravelry, more details can be found there. I think I bought 11 balls

Thank you Mena! How much growth in the yarn did you notice in the yarn upon blocking? I just finished the body on my cardigan, and I'm hoping for a smidge more length and width.
