I like it too, use it for two years in Carpathians, but annoying condensation issues but I guess it goes for all one layer tents. During storms, strong winds, hard rain condensation literately was not dripping but spraying on us.

As a kid I remember that Winn-Dixie would sell these assortments of donuts, my favorite was always the twisted/braided looking ones that were half chocolate and half whatever normal donut flavor is. They don't sell them here anymore but I think about them whenever I see Dixie's two-tone braid.

For us Lanshan 2 fans the door not being a T style opening has long been a point of contention 😞 . Make sure you use the correct seam sealer for silnylon other types don’t work as well … put it in the syringe and run it down the seams on the outside … it should make a nice neat finish snd is much better than daubing it on with a brush …. Senior hiker 77 had some success with just a spray on sealer if you wanted to do that … one thing you can expect is that after rain the tent will weigh considerably more than a DCF tent but then it’s also a little more resilent to fire embers (a main source of damage to DCF tents) i have three Lanshan tents and i love em all … best value for money trekking pole tent on the market hope for us weekend warriors … hope you enjoy it as much as i do ….👍👍

I've had one for about a year, and it has been doing great. I'll upgrade to something lighter at some point, but this was a great way to save some money for a newbie backpacker! I added a tiny carabiner to the stakes for the vestibules to alleviate the slipping problem.

I bought my Lanshan 2 Pro late last summer & used it on several shake-down hikes as well as on the PCT this year. Maybe I have the 4-season, because the sidewalls (with the doors) are all fabric except for small triangles near the top. I am very happy with the quality after the first 500 miles. With the high winds of southern California, the tent is better designed to have the points of the vestibule aimed at the wind. If the head or foot is aimed at the wind, the tent billows like a parachute. I replaced the tent pegs with larger ones and usually use rocks to help hold things. I've only been in a couple of rainstorms and 1 snowstorm since purchasing late last summer, but have had some experience with dew forming on the inside. If I was handy with a sewing machine, I would make a couple of "simple" add-ons that keep the roof fabric dripping onto the netting at the head/foot areas (found on KZbin). Otherwise, the roof sags & makes your bag damp. I like how tall the interior is, but that is a bit of a problem in high winds. If needed, it's easy to drop the poles & sleep like a bivouac.

I have had my lanshan 2 for 5 years and it is still going strong. I love mine. I think that it is probably 80% of a Zpacks Duplex for 20% the price. It has its obvious shortcomings if you spend a lot of time in it, but it is a seriously impressive tent. Also, re: head/foot end of the tent, it actually does not end up mattering that much. You just have to scooch over a few inches to get out of the other end of the tent if you decide to sleep facing the "wrong way". It really is not a problem. Also, re:gear storage. I have never had a problem with gear in the vestibule. These tents are Highest value for money on the market by a lot. If I could make 1 big change to the regular lanshan 2 it would be to make the tent out of silpoly rather than silnylon. Because it is a trekking pole tent, it relies on tension to stay up. Rain and condensation cause sagging. If it were silpoly, I would pay double.

That's a hell to the "no" Dixie doll!! I have the Lanshan 2 and that mesh is extremely important to this tall guy over 6'4". I can pitch the fly only, inner tent only, fly first, etc. I have used mine many times in different environments. It's Coyote brown, lots of mods and I love ❤️ it. Biggest mod was getting the vestibule line and vent line separated, then adding zpacks metal boat anchor hooks for the doors. The plastic ones are a no go. Replaced everything with dyneema, added glow pulls, msr core stakes (14) and a sil-nylon footprint. 5 to 95 degrees. Drop it into storm mode and she barely moves. Let me know if you need pics.

I have used the old Lanshan 2 ( not the pro) for a few years and really like it. It was seem sealed from the factory, is a double walled tent, and has performed great in the rain for us. Looking forward to your field test.

I think being a double wall tent the non-pro edges out the pro version for my use most of the year. Humidity tends to be high in the southeast US.

The guy line on the ridge is supposed to come with a hook and tensioner at the bottom end that attaches to the doors. There is a setup video by 3f ul. Hope this helps.

I have the Lanshan 2 Pro and can say I have been so impressed with mine. It handled windiest night I've ever spent in a tent with ease. I was sure to set the poles low so the wind didn't get under the edge. Ive had it two and a half seasons and I will buy another one when this one wears out.

I have had the Lanshan 2 Pro for 1 year. I'm a budget kind of guy. I don't like spending high $ because I'm poor lol. I seem sealed and went heavier on the rain fly (where the trekking polls meet the rain fly) I have taking it on 7 day trips a couple over nighters and a few 2 day and a few kayaking trips. The bathtub is high enough not to let water splash in and I have had no leaks. Has enough room for me 6ft tall 190lbs and my gear. There is defiantly enough room to fit 2 people but there's going to be some snuggling involved, if you put packs outside the tub. This tent is a solid pick for people not wanting to buy a $400+ tent and light weight. I would 100% recommend unless your rich and can afford that ultra light gear. But I'm pretty happy with my pack wet weight is 16lbs for 3 day trip. Good hiking to all :)

I really like mine. Easy to set up the inside is nice and long for a backpacking tent. I always use trekking poles so it made a lot of sense to go this style. The first time or in it the wind blew like crazy, the others with me had free standing tents and ended up having more issues with the wind then I did. I would love a zpack but at this price point I can't complain. When I bought mine I got the footprint included and paid about $120 off of Amazon. It was on sale at the time.

Thanks for this. A very light tent. I have two ultralight solo tents but sometimes for basecamping I like to use a 2 person tent. Last fall I decided to trash my North Face Lunarlight, a tent I have been using for the last three decades or more and leaving it up in the bush for the whole summer. So I decided to pull out my MSR Fusion 2, it's heavy at eight pounds, it's four season, but I leave it in the bush and I only have to carry it in, and then it stays there. For ultralight I have two solo tents that weigh under 2 pounds, one of which is the Durston Mid 1p and the other is the Spark 1 ( a Mountain Equipment product that I love and often use.)

The syringe is to help with seam sealing. I don't think the seams on that tent are taped or sealed from the factory. You're expected to do it yourself before you go out. Otherwise it will leak. Seam grip is the sealant I have used to waterproof low end tents in the past.

Hey there! I have been using the Lanshan 2 Pro for about 5 months now. I bought it as a budget UL trekking pole tent to suffice for me while my X-Mid 2 Pro is being built and delivered. I'm really impressed by the tent overall. I wanted to mention to you that you do not need a footprint at all with this tent. I have never used one and I've pitched it at times that I thought might get something poking through the bathtub floor, but nothing. It is really durable and allows you to save a small bit of weight by keeping the footprint at home. Also, the syringe is for seam sealing as you guessed. :)

I have the non pro and I’ve noticed dampness inside the the tent under objects. Not sure if it’s damp coming through the floor or condensation as it’s really humid where I live (hence why I got the double wall tent). I also have the 4 seasons inner with the 3 seasons outer. Am going to try a footprint to see if that makes any difference. Happens more often in cold damp ground.

I wish Eureka still made the Spitfire. It was light, cheap and I used mine in snow and rain with no problems. My floor is still intact despite never using a footprint, (I would just put my thermarest pad on the ground under the tent with no problems).

My first United States bicycling tour was the winter of 1980 485 from Southeast Coastal Florida to San Diego California. I paid $8 for an old nylon bathtub floor pup tent in the old army navy surplus store. After that I got a 6 by 8 nylon rainfly. I figured a way to suspend the rain fly over the tent. I camped out 60 nights in that tent. There was light rain and heavy rain and snow. There was at least one serious blizzard and every night there was anything from just simply cold to very cold. That little tent kept me dry and warm all the time period

I have this same tent in brown and honestly its not a bad option. I ditched the stakes for longer ones- got a tyvek foot print- added a sm hook inside for a light -and some cam lock hooks for the tie downs, but overall it was good to go out of the bag- I did find that in heavy winds / rain it would kinda stretch out the fabric jus a lil after setting it up. Hence cam lock hooks for quick tightening of the lines. Its more or less a budget version of the zpacs. I would buy again and recommend especially for a part time back packer.

LOVE my 3FULgear Lanshan 2! Bought it at $138 two years ago for solo use. Bought better Walmart stakes for it. Weathered every storm and stayed dry inside. No problems with condensation (I'm in a humid climate) that I've experienced.

I ordered my Lanshan 1 Pro directly from 3FUL as well. They do offer the seal seal service and I had them do it on mine. They definitely used the syringe method and not a brush on method that you see so often. They applied a thin bead directly into each or the seams and around the reinforcement patches. Also, many recommend using longer stakes for the two holding the pole guy lines. Check out Haze Outdoors. He did a 14 day hike with your tent on the Cape Wrath trail with the Lanshan 2 Pro. It's one of the most entertaining trail vlog series I've seen! Good luck with your Lanshan. I love mine!

If it's anything like the non pro version you should be aware that the hooks which link the doors to the guyline are pretty fragile, it's a small bit of plastic for the most crucial part. They snaped on me during the third storm the tent withstood. Other than this detail it's a very good tent!

You weren’t staking the vestibules right. That’s why you had it popping off. The vestibules and the the top points are staked with the same stake. There’s a clever system where you use that one guy line with one end connected to the vestibule and the other end connected to the top point where the trekking pole is inserted. You loop the guy line on the stake in the middle. Then you use the tensioner plastic pieces to get it tight.

Been using a Lanshan 2 person trekking pole tent for a few years. Got it thry Ali Express for ~$100 total...shipped out from China and took some time to clear customs. An inner screened body with a bathtub is attached to the outer rainfly. I had seam seal, but didn't need it. When I tested it with my water hose, it only leaked where the guy lines are attached at the 2 far ends. The rainwater just dripped onto the outside of the inner bathtub below the screen mesh. This pro version looks like any water coming thru that area may drip inside if it isn't sealed. Maybe that was how they shaved some weight? Oh, I swapped out the stakes...I still put large rocks on top of them. Anyway, it worked out nice for me in high winds, sierra hail, heavy storms, etc. Look forward to hearing about the field testing.

The pro has silicone coating on both sides of the nylon fly which cannot be taped. The non-pro has silicone on the outside and PU on the inside where a tape sticks. The 2xsilicone coated nylon is more rigid, by a factor of 2-3. It is also 20D on the pro and 15D on the non-pro. The fly of the pro is heavier.

I have then original Lanshan 2 tent. I looked at maybe buying the pro just to save a little more weight but didn't because the weight difference wasn't enough for me to switch to it. Wife and I also have the zpacks duplex which we love. If we hike solo we take the duplex. If we hike together we take both because together includes our dog. My wife and dog take the duplex because it's easier for our dog to get in and out of. I just use the Lanshan. Depending on where and when we are hiking, I may opt. to leave the body of the lanshan 2 at home. I do love that versatility about the lanshan 2 which the pro doesn't offer. I expect the pro to be a very good tent, especially, for the price. You can kind of look past some things when you're not paying duplex pricing for a tent that is similar in design. It's definitely a budget tent worth testing. I expect the usual single wall condensation but I don't think it will be any worse than the duplex which is manageable.

Great tent. The footprint might be worth it. Pretty lightweight and can be run through the corner loops to hold it in place. Considering you can buy 3 for 1 of the equivalent Zpacks, it’s pretty sweet. (footnote: I have the original Lanshan 2, not the pro)

I look forward to your full review. I have the Lanshan one Pro and enjoy it a lot. Hard to say from your video but I think maybe you had the vestibules set up incorrectly. On the main guideline that comes out from the top there is a little loop on the line where you put the stake through then the guyline essentially doubles back and hooks to the vestibule. Hard to describe but if you look up a few KZbin videos you will see what I’m talking about. Thanks for all your great content.

I took a hard look at the Lanshan Pro and decided on the Paria Arches…. Same basic design, same basic price. The Paria tent came with a ground sheet, factory sea sealed, and they changed their stakes to one’s that look identical to the MSR groundhog (though I switched them out for the Groundhog mini stakes. 2.75 lbs total (the Paria tent was a little heavier but it’s also a double wall so I don’t have to worry about condensation.

Zippers. The bane of every camper at 2:00 am. I hate having to pee and fumbling around in the dark trying to find a black colored zipper pull. Oh the humanity! I'm a hanger so I just "cocoon" my hammock with a loose netting that hangs over the edge. When I have to pee or hear something walking through the leaves at 2:00 am I just slide right out. No zippers! I've made numerous custom tarps for special people who love to hide and I've never understood why most manufacturers cheap out or chicken out on seam sealing their products. I never expect my clients to seam seal their own tarp.

I have the one pole, one person version of this tent. Found that after I seam sealed it when pulled under tension the seam seal pulled apart and I got quite wet inside! Also found the condensation would mist onto you when it rained heavily outside, maybe that’s just with single skin tents though?

Don't peg the doors out on their own stake, the guy coming down from the vent has a small loop about 2/3 down it, peg through there, then the end has a plastic rams head: attach the loops on each side of the bottom of the door to that. The peg should be about 125cm (if the ridge is at 125) from the edge of the bathtub. If the weather is proper grim, you can peg how you have and drop the ridge height, but you lose a lot of ventilation. A fair few people replace the plastic rams head with the metal one from zpacks. I just replaced the standard cord with shock cord (did this on all the bathtub loops tbh, let's me raise and lower the height and still get good tension on the bathtub).

Seam sealing doesn’t have to be hard, get a tube of 100% silicon caulk (GE or similar), squirt some in a plastic cup and add mineral spirits until it’s a pancake syrup consistency, set up your tent in dry weather, and use a foam brush to go over all the seams and stitch points. You’ll have to reseal it every year or two, even if it’s factory sealed initially, so get accustomed to the process. Cheers.

The reason why the stake of the vestibule kept popping up in your video was that it wasn’t staked correctly. I believe you only need one stake for the vestibule on each side. There is a little loop in the middle of the vestibule’s guy line where you put the stake in and stake it down, then use the ram-horn shaped hook at the end of the guy line to hook up the loops of the vestibules. Finally, using the line locks to tighten up.

I've had the regular Lanshan 2 with the fly. Less condensation. Ive used it for 4 years now. Both 3 season and 4 season. The 4 season is actually lighter then the 3 season. It also doesn't need to be waterproofed.

@@rahelapuscas8518 The non-pro (double wall) is seam sealed, both 3 and 4 season versions, because it uses silicone coating only on the outside, and PU coating on the inside which can be taped. The pro has silicone on both sides, which results in a more rigid fabric, but cannot be taped.

Have used my Lanshan 2 pro on several long distance hikes in the UK. The pro model requires seam sealing as uses sil nilon (Lanshan 2 does not). See you have the door vestibules open by a peg, there is a ram heads toggle which they connect to, which is made of plastic and can be upgraded to metal with the zpacks ram head. Pitching wise, peg the corners 150cm apart for best pitch and I've attached shock cord to the bottom to help pull it tight when pegging. Great tent and holds up well in the wind. Also enough space to use an air chair inside with your sleeping mat. Enjoy it!

My lanshan 2 (not pro) also needed to be seam sealed. Tried it first without and it leaked. No leaks once I sealed it.

I have the same tent in green, but here in the UK it came already seam sealed with tape so I didn't get the syringe. Bought it over a year ago but haven't used it yet, I have also purchased separately the 4 season inner tent as well because of our wonderfully changeable weather.

It is not the same tent. The pro is single wall hybrid, you have the double wall.

When you can't get an X-Mid 2p you get a Lanshan 2p or 2p Pro. Both are solid choices and are great quality for being a Chinese brand.

At first glance it looks basically like a "discount gossamer gear the two" - external design seems very similar, but this is heavier but also cheaper.

I’ve used one of these for about 3 years now now a bad tent for the price. The only place mine has leaked is the side fly tie outs. A little seam seal on the attachment for the cord and she’s good to go. If I was doing a thru I might spend the money on a higher end tent but this serves my needs well

What you have (and I, too) is the "non PRO" version. It is a different tent, being double wall with other fabric materials. Its seams are taped, and in fact, you only have to seal are these two cord attachements.

I would get at least 2 snow tent pegs to solve that problem... DIY sharpened each peg tip first with a file, before hiting the trial ...

I have one that I got in late 2019. I’ve not had a chance to check it out yet. I started working from home and got a cat. I’m training her to enjoy camping and hiking so I def haven’t used it yet. In fact I got a 6 person tent for her comfort for the times we’ve gone camping this last year. She loves being in the tent and her backpack cuz while she wants to be outside(she is a rescue), she is terrified when she’s outside. But in the tent or in her pack she feels much more confident. Next trip I’m hoping to take out the lanshan, if nothing else to practice setting it up. I have a three person backpacking tent that I’ve had forever. It’s a freestanding tent and it’s awesome. I have a pop up two person tent I just tested out for car camping to see how we’d fit. So far looks good. So next step is the lanshan. Look forward to hearing more of your observations

seems pretty solid to be honest. I'm interested to see how it performs. I am always looking for another budget backpacker. Yeah the duplex is great, but it is just too easy, If there isn't at least a chance is leaks then where would be the fun in that? ha ha

Actually you did pick the right color to minimize condensation … I read a report once that showed white or light colored tents tend to have less condensation than dark colored ones… saying that though my Lanshan 2 is a very stealthy Khaki Brown and it’s not really bad for condensation…🤷‍♂️

I have the lanshan 2 ( not the pro) and just used it for the first time last weekend. I am very impressed with it. It definitely isn't the duplex, but it doesn't have the high price either.

How is ventilation in this tent? I'm wondering about condensation as I backpack mostly on the AT.

With four doors to choose from (two each vestibule), you're always able to keep at least one downwind flap up to allow for ventilation. I've only had real condensation problems on hot nights with overnight rain.

I have the normal lanshan 2, with the 3 season mesh lining, and it comes seam sealed. I always wondered why they didn't seem seal the pro. Definitely put me off getting it, I live in the UK, so it's definitely a double wall tent for me! It's worth the extra weight to me to have the versatility and more protection from condensation. I absolutely love it, took it on a 500 mile walk and it did me proud. I'm looking to upgrade to a Notch Li by tarptent, in the future as it's lighter and got a much smaller footprint 👣🏕️

to seam seal that tent it would have to be done by hand. That would almost double the price. They choose the cheaper route for the customer. I don't even call this tent a budget tent. Its quality just cheaper than most

They actually offer seam sealing for $35.00 on their website. Not a bad add on price if someone didn't feel confident in doing it themselves. I'm guessing they made that an option to keep cost to customer down. Either way, price is still great for an awesome tent. I have the lanshan 2 also. I looked at the pro but the weight savings didn't justify me switching to it. Plus, the version you and I have has the option to leave the body at home. Right time of year and right place, I've used it that way many times!

@@one2869 For sure, I've jacked up my poles to the max and used the rain fly as a sun shade and wind break on sunny hilltops, and a tarp for rainy lunchtimes. Just having, essentially, a separate bug net is great too🦟 I didn't know they seam seal it for $35, that's pretty reasonable 👍

@@_Tree_of_Life_ It is a different fly material. The pro is silicone coated on both sides which gives higher strength but cannot be tape-sealed. The non-pro has PU coating on the inside where tape sticks.
