I don’t think this kind of filter is a good idea, you’ll have lot of nitrate in the future, you should use a protein skimmer. (I have more than 5 years of experience in reef tank)

What Materials did you use for the stand? Is that a gloss finish?

I built the stand from the king of DIY blueprints using 2x4s and I wrapped it in 1/4" plywood and painted it using a matte white paint
