As a stay at home mom, I'm always embarrassed and annoyed with self-centered women like Sandi. Dismissing her husband's concerns about the budget, and her rudeness about the fireplace (especially since he liked it), was shortsighted and mean. We are very fortunate to have the luxury of being with our kids all day, while our husbands (or wives) earn salaries to afford new houses. It's very unfortunate that Sandi wasn't open to John's opinions/concerns, nor was she grateful. Maybe it would be different if she were paying the bills.

I can't believe she told her husband - who, by the way, is paying for this house - that it doesn't matter if he likes the fireplace since she doesn't and that he made her happy iand that's how it should always be?? What a selfish, horrible, sad, little person that wife is! She is disrespecting her husband by going against him not only in public but on national television! She makes him look like a soft, easily-manipulated man that has no authority over her. When she admits the she is "nagging" and that is her way of getting things, that tells you the kind of manipulative character she has! Also, when she places her little, minor desires as a priority above the more important budget issue, remember they are in DEBT for this house, this shows how she does not really appreciate the work her husband does in order for them to even be able to borrow money to buy the house! The fact that he has to work harder to pay a bigger debt does not even matter to her. All she knows is what she wants. She was willing to go against him from the very start when he said he doesn't want to spend as much on the house and she outright said the opposite. She doesn't care about the hard work her husband does to provide. If they were ever forced by some financial situation to move into a $100.000 smaller and more modest house, she'd be a miserable person who'd probably get into depression because her "happiness" depends on getting EVERY material thing the way she wants it. THAT is what makes her happy, not her husband and the family they have. No wife that respects and appreciates her husband tell him on national TV that she'll stop with the nagging when she gets the things SHE wants! What a dishonorable wife! She sure made a fool of herself on national TV!

I take it that she does not work, and won't contribute to paying for her little pesky "wants". I despise men who allow their wives such a behavior, but unfortunately it is everywhere nowadays! I have a guy working for me who is a solo provider for his family, with the wife holding medical degree and $500K school debt but no job as she is too LAZY. And yet, the guy is scared to tell his wife that 2 months ago he went and voted for the candidate who is not her choice! He is afraid she would put him in the doghouse for that! 1. This is a show. A lot of (if not all) the dialogue is very much scripted in order to make the show more interesting/emotional. Apparently it worked. 2. He's an adult. He knows who he married. She didn't force him to marry her. If the marriage works, regardless of if she's overbearing, and the husband is for the most part fine with it, then it is what it is.

I actually agreed about the old fireplace-although the beige trim would be the only thing I'd change about it-it looked great otherwise. But she was lucky that it could get changed out in the final house for no extra cost. I can see how if you're at home most of the day raising a kid then you don't want to look at an ugly fireplace all day in the living room you spend most of your time in, but the husband was right too-if you have to make a trade off for getting more space and design features, you should be able to just live with fireplaces you don't like. I really respect his willingness to keep within budget and the realtor did a nice job of getting them a great deal on the house.

It can be very insulting to make a low-ball offer. We were offered $35,000 less than list price on one of our homes and didn't even entertain it. We ignored it and our Realtor didn't even respond to the potential buyer's Realtor. A person came along just a week later with a full-price offer which we, of course, took. In the last home we just sold (in 48 hours!) the person who ended up purchasing it tried to low-ball their offer and we refused it. They ended up offering the full list price and we accepted. However, saying that, the house we just bought was listed at $414K. Our Realtor wrote up an offer for $400K which I thought would be insulting to the seller, but the sellers countered with $408K and we accepted. There are different strategies to use, but it definitely doesn't pay to tic off a seller.

I actually loved the stone fireplace. It commanded a statement. I understand you want a dream home, but better to live comfortable than to struggle just to get by. My 4 children and I moved to TX about 5 years ago, as I was very sick and couldn't afford to stay in California.😪😢😪 These kind of females infiltrate whole subdivisions like The Stepford Wives! We were in DFpeW for 3 years... 3 years too long. We moved to Waco 2 years ago and really like it so far! Yes, it has become somewhat of a Chip & Jo shrine. It's good that they are stepping back from the spotlight, as the home prices have increased so much: the prices probably still are good, but not comparing property taxes from now to 3 years ago!
