unless you're an EXOL many people aren't aware that Kai was actually fully involved in the production of this album. His hand was on every aspect of it and he even went into his own wallet to make sure that the what he had envisioned could be fulfilled for him and his fans. With Kai:Film Kai once again has introduced something to kpop that had not been seen before. He's done this many times before like introducing ballet and contemporary dance to kpop which was a complete shift to what was being done up to that point and this is one of the many reasons kai is known as the idols idol. thank you for reacting to him and I hope you'll be able to react to him and the other members some more to get to know their personalities. They're all so kind and funny and I think you'll be very surprised by the difference between Kai on and off stage. you could even check out some of the videos released during the promotion period of this mini album. ♡

​@@Landyra Kai's actually considered one of the best male idol dancers alongside Taemin and Jimin. Other idols, choreographers and professional dancers have all praised his dancing. In fact one choreographer said he was glad Kai was an idol or else he wouldn't have a job. He started learning ballet when he was just a child and also studied other styles of dance before joining SM. In fact many of his solo stages include elements of ballet and modern dance and his inclusion of these styles is often cited as having a great influence on the kind of choreography used in K-pop now, because 1st and 2nd gen groups mainly only had hip-hop style choreography. One reactor once said that she thinks that Kai's first language is actually dance and that you don't even need to have sound on to enjoy his dancing and I really think that's true. (Sorry, big ole Kai stan here and he's love, passion and talent for dance is just one part of why I admire him)

28:47 well in interviews mostly when he is asked about that he laughs shyly because kai has totally two different sides to himself. He is kai when he is on stage and then we have shy, adorable, sweet and warm hearted jongin off stage that is in love with little kids and is such a great uncle in real life. Long story short off stage his is our nini and cute baby bear who breaks into tears just with reading some few words of fan letters. If you watch kai openning live promotion for his solo you can see he is just like this little boy all excited for his solo debute and start crying as soon as he got emotional.

I thought the same thing, that the idea for Film: Kai was pretty damn dope! It was a mini MV album sampler and yeah, it made the album much more alive for me! I have pictures in my head to go along with the songs when I hear them, and it made me SUPER hype for the album drop. More so than I already was. I said when I saw it that all Kpop artists will soon be doing the same thing...if they are smart.

I like your reactions very much, but there's something I have to point out. While we all have our preferences for the type of sound and song we like, coming to Kpop with certain expectations, and then measuring the artists achievement against those expectations really misses the mark. Particularly with EXO, the major part of their discography is highly experimental and versatile, so if you listen for what you want to hear rather than listen to hear something new, you might miss out on a lot. This applies to BTS as well, particularly their early albums. Experimentation here is the norm, so starting from one's own vantage point might limit what you see and hear. I know you know this because you point out you like some songs because it's like nothing you've heard before, and that's precisely the point. Citing personal taste while attempting to be objective does not go hand in hand.

Yeah i kinda agree. I mean before getting into kpop i personally HATED rap. Like really i hated all rap part. But actually after some time rap slowly started growing on me and right now, a year and half after, some rap parts are actually my fave part of the songs! Kpop is really experimental and most groups really try a lot of styles and genres, they don't stick to just one sound and i think that this is one of the most beautiful things about kpop. Personally I'm fond of r&b sound but kpop really opened my eyes to a lot of different types of music. While listening to kpop in general i think people should just try to be open to things we are not used of. As both an army and an exol myself i find it kinda strange that she is an army and loves all bts stuff while still not enjoying slower songs because bts have done this kind of songs too.

the genre of this song is R&B but modern R&B with some experimental. Kai likes this genre. As for strong visuals, if you followed Kai's career as a kpop idol, actor, model,product endorser/ambassador esp of Gucci, that is a given. His dancing and dance choreos are always avidly anticipated by dance afficionados. He is an artist who is also charismatic. The surprise in his solo album is his voice regardless of song preference he does have a fine, unique sound and the ones who produced/recorded wisely allowed his raw voice to come out...it has sincerity... which is so Kai.

Yes, rnb is a genre that has always had a harder time with me. This type of song is very rarely an instant like for me, I often need to hear the songs a couple of times for them to grow on me, because they’re less “in your face” than the type of high energy songs that I find catchy right away ^^ I appreciate your comment though, I get so many comments from people thinking I’m actively trying to dislike it, when I actually enjoyed it quite a bit 🙈 the visuals and dancing where amazing, and the song is quite fun too~

To understand what is happening in Kai's "Mmmh" MV, you have to first understand EXO's concept. As you may know, everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in someway to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 8 years -- since predebut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them -- including their sub-sub-unit MVs and a majority of the member's solo MVs. And because Baekhyun and Kai are involved, even SuperM's storyline -- is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story. To truly understand EXO you need to know that EXO debuted in 2012. EXO's "Mama" song and MV is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept. So to really understand EXO, if you haven't already, you need to start from the very beginning and watch BOTH of their "Mama" MVs. (EXO-K and EXO-M) From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet EXO and they came to Earth with superpowers on a mission to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary.The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. So, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. Kai's EXO superpower is teleportation, so what you see throughout his "Mmmh" MV is him teleporting. And, I think, at the very end scene what you are seeing is SM connecting Kai's solo storyline to EXO's storyline. You see D.O.'s power of earth (dirt) which gives him super strength/force and Xiumin's power to control snow/ice/frost being used. (D.O. and Xiumin are members of EXO.) You also see what I think is the emergence of a pyramid, which represents Kai and his superpower -- as part of EXOs storyline all the members have a symbol that represents them. A pyramid is Kai's symbol and when you see a pyramid within EXO's storyline it represents something to do with Kai I also find it interesting that Xiumin and D.O. will both be returning from the military shortly and the end scene in "Mmmh" may be SM's way of connecting the events of this MV to D.O. and Xiumin's upcoming solo work as well. If you analyse all the scenes within Kai's MV you would find connections can be made to EXO's storyline and things to do with past EXO MVs and probably even future MVs, as well as SuperM's storyline. As I think you know, Kai is also a member of SuperM, which is the industry's very first Supergroup. SuperM was created by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Capitol Records in the U.S. They debuted last year and they are designed to bring Kpop to the U.S. market. This group features 7 of the best of the best when it comes to dance, vocals, rap and performance in Kpop. The members of SuperM are some of the absolute best from SM Entertainment's most popular groups, which includes EXO, SHINee, NCT and WayV. SuperM's concept is that they are "The Avengers of Kpop," and the members are supposed to be superhero-like characters who are coming together to form an Avengers-like group to help EXO defeat the evil Red Force. And, like the majority of SM's groups, all of their storylines and concepts intertwin and connect. For example, in SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, you see Kai being chased by or being aided by drones as he tried to scale a building, as SuperM works to stop the Red Force. So, I think the scene in "Mmmh," where you see him looking at the drones hovering around him, has something to do with connections between Kai's solo storyline and SuperM/EXO's MVs. Also, Kai means door or gateway, so as a member of EXO, Kim JongIn (Kai) was given the stage name Kai because, as the center of the group, he is supposed to be the member who connects everyone together and that is why he was given the ability to teleport. Plus, as part of EXO's storyline, it is thought that the members are traveling between dimensions and time periods throughout history in their quest to find the Tree of Life and to fix all the evil and corruption that is thought to be caused by the Red Force. So, in "Mmmh" it is thought that Kai is traveling between dimensions and across time periods in his search for the other members and the Tree of Life, etc. There is also a fan theory that the reason why we see Kai with so many different looks and styles in this MV is because it's not always Kai that we are seeing. Another part of EXO's storyline is that some of the members have evil alter ego clones that have been created by the Red Force, so some theories think that sometimes we are seeing Kai's evil X-EXO clone and other times we are seeing superhero, good EXO Kai. All of the EXO members first solo songs have something to do with the fact that they are members of EXO, and their MVs and songs show them using their powers. Baekhyun's song "UN Village" talks about his power to control light, Suho's "Let's Love" MV shows him with his power to control water, and Kai teleports all over in his "Mmmh" MV. As the first EXO member to have a solo career, the majority of Lay's solo MVs tie into EXO's storyline as well. Even in their solo work, everything EXO does is connected to their concept and storyline as members of EXO. :D Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order. So, we fans have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of everything any of the members of EXO/SuperM are involved in to try and piece it all together and figure out where each part fits within their larger storyline. And the story isn't just limited to their MVs, but it extends to everything EXO is involved in, including teaser videos, live performances, concert VCRs (videos played between sets in their concerts) and even a majority of their choreography. As you can see, EXO's and SM's Universe is extremely complicated and complex, and even the most expert of fans, has trouble following the storyline. The thing is, none of us really know exactly what is happening in the story, it's all just fan theories and educated guesses. SM has never confirmed or denied any of our theories and they have left it completely up to fans to figure out what is happening and to create the story. And oftentimes, because the story is not in order, we discover that, with the introduction of a new MV or performance, everything we thought to be true has been turned on its head and we now have to rethink everything. (We only hope that someday SM will come out with a book or movie that will explain the whole story, so we will know whether any part of our theories were correct.) You should check out Kai's dance practice video for "Mmmh," you are going to be even more blown away when you see the full choreography. There is a reason why Kai is considered one of the top two BEST dancers in the industry. ;P
