LIsa is Thai, as others have said here. She has been a dancer since age 4, and is widely regarded as the best female dancer of the entire kpop industry. In 2010, at age 13, she auditioned in Bangkok for YG Entertainment, one of the Big 3 kpop agencies, and was the only one selected out of 4,000 applicants. She then moved to South Korea to begin a 5 year training period, upon the conclusion of which she debuted in 2016 as the "main dancer" of a new 4-member girl group called Blackpink. They became the most famous and successful girl group in the kpop world, and last year completed a world concert tour that reportedly drew $265 million in ticket sales. The group's seven-year contract with YG ended last year and was renewed only for group activities, leaving Lisa and the other 3 members free to pursue solo careers. This is Lisa's first music video produced by her own company, LLOUD. By the way, the video was shot at night in Bangkok's Chinatown.

LISA is Thai, not Japanese. She has been around since 2016. This is one of her solo songs. She created her label LLOUD and signed with RCA Records this year, but she is in the Korean girl group BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK are pretty big in the U.S. They just had a world tour selling out stadiums in America, such as MetLife Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Oracle Park, and Dodgers Stadium. They're also the most subscribed music artist globally on KZbin with 94.2 million subscribers. BLACKPINK is one of the biggest groups in the world, but are on hiatus this year so that all the members can focus on their solo careers. They are supposed to come back next year as a group. If you want more of LISA, you should check out her other solo songs 'Money' (the performance video version because she doesn't have a Music Video out for it) which has 1 billion views on KZbin, and 'LALISA'. She also did a song with Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Snake, and Ozuna called SG (sexy girl). With that being said, you should check out BLACKPINK as well. In BLACKPINK, she is always the one rapping and typically has bangs, but in their most recent songs, Shut Down and Pink Venom, she got rid of them.

This song is her first solo music under her own company "LLoud" and as CEO. She's also making her movie debut in the "White Lotus" season 3 in HBO. She has been really busy this 2024. Under YG, Lisa has two solo "Lalisa and Money." Two collaborations, "Sexy Girl ( SG) with DJ Snake and 🏎Shoong💨 with Taeyang." And one cover "My Only Wish" by Britney Spears. The “teach me Japanese” line comes from the initial response she got from the k-netizens. They assumed she was Japanese (which SK does not have a good relationship with due to a previous war) and hated on her. Then she was hated on for being Thai just like other foreign idols are and was purposely ignored at fan meets and such, despite her incredible talent and aura and even with Blackpink being one of the biggest girl groups in the world. Foreign idols aren’t treated well in the industry and definitely not on survival shows even if they’re some of the most talented candidates. K-netz are incredibly judgmental about everything from ethnicity/nationality to beauty standards and she worked double time to prove her worth. Even now she encounters the occasional racism but I hope she lets it roll off her back. All the members of Blackpink have been severely limited by YG (their company/label) and weren’t given much freedom. They even took Jennie’s song book as a trainee, probably because they were intimidated by her. YG usually doesn’t let any writer or producer touch their idols, but especially not Blackpink unless it was someone like David Guetta who helped produce their song “Lovesick Girls.” The girls were what we called “kept in the dungeon” because they couldn’t release more than one song or small EP a year and only gave us an album because we pushed for it. I’ve noticed now that YG are collaborating with outside writers now for their other groups so idk but it looks like they hated Blackpink even though they’re one of their top grossing groups 🤷🏼‍♀️ But check out their solo stuff. And check out Babymonster. The main song is “Sheesh” which was a collaboration with LP among other writers. If you’re not aware, LP has written frequently for Rihanna and sang “Lost On You” and “Bear me no witness.” They’ve got some crazy vocals. Ahyeon singing “Dangerously” by Charlie Puth went viral which led to him writing and producing “Like That” for them.
